Has anyone received confirmation of free dining cancellation?

Got my email too.
Once I know the ball is rolling on that refund, I'm going to see what we can get back on the Travel insurance as we won't be using it.

Sorry to say that your travel insurance will not cover any claim if you have lost any other monies because:
A) All insurers have added a COVID clause which excludes any claims in relation to the virus
B) If you are choosing not to go irrelevant of the reason, that's your choosing

Better off trying to claim directly from the suppliers.

Got my email through last night with the 35% discount. Does anyone know if we move our holiday to 2021, will Disney apply the discount? I am thinking probably not but wondered if anyone had explored this option with Disney?
Also watch out for this discount. I looked at my invoice and my price had only reduced by £400....staying at Beach Club and with the price of accommodation quite substantial, I calculated a much higher discount amount based on 35% reduction in accommodation cost. My advice would be to call Disney BEFORE you accept, if you are still planning on going.

We have just got the email as we were due to head out to WDW in August and honestly this feels like a bit of a kick in the teeth from Disney. This was due to be our Honeymoon trip having spent two years planning it. As soon as restrictions were put in place we were 99.9% sure we wouldn't be able to go this year due to my partner being a teacher who would need to be back to work as soon as we arrived back the UK. This was also confirmed when our flights were cancelled on Wednesday this week.

We had brushed it off as we made a backup plan to go in the April holidays next year and had even rang Disney Travel Co this past week to explore the option but were told to hold off and wait for more information which lead to us being hopeful that Disney had something in the bag for its UK patrons. Since receiving the email we have have just checked the price of going next April... it closed to doubled in price before you even add flights on which rules out the Honeymoon we had planned staying at PORS.

Gutted is an understatement.
It may be worth requesting a quote from a US TA for April. They have far more flexibility to add discounts, FD etc as they are released and more relaxed cancelling policies. So you could book, hold the resort you want and keep an eye on UK offers, if any. This forum is owned by Dreams Unlimited or I use Small World Vacations. The quotes are free so you have nothing to lose. Then you can book a flight separately and if you book a car or an airport hotel etc it becomes a package and you get that protection if you feel that you need it. Check out BA, KLM and Delta. Good luck.

The link is about actually claiming back the cost of your travel insurance policy - we took out cover for the trip that Disney is now giving us a refund on. May be worth looking into, I have no idea if we’ll get the cover back but I’m going to try!

Ah I see, sorry! Yeah not sure if they will....they may allow you to change the dates on the travel policy for a different holiday however. Trying to think back to when I worked in travel insurance but this was 20 odd years ago!

How have you found using a US based TA? What about fx charges when it comes to payment?

We communicate by e mail and she is prompt and efficient. I use a Revolut or Monzo card to make payments. They don’t charge commission and the exchange rates are good. In the US you pay one night’s room charge as a deposit or $200 for a package deposit. As long as you cancel within WDWs timeframe, you get a full refund. TA charges nothing and will look for and apply discounts for you, as they are released, free of charge. With the RO reservation you pay for your trip on check out day ( or maybe check in) . Package I think is 30 days before. You have to make this honeymoon happen! 😉

No you won't be able to have the 35% discount if you move/modify your trip. You only get this applied if you take the trio exactly as it currently is booked - exact dates and resort.

Can I ask, how did you check your invoice? I didn't receive a new one through even after I selected that we'd still be going so want to make sure the full 35% discount has been applied? X

Find your original invoice (will have been emailed to you when you booked). It will be 35% off the hotel aspect. So disregarding the tickets and any dining plan upgrades (although one would assume they’ll just refund the entire cost of that as well.)

Thanks - yes I've already worked out what I should get removed price wise but the poster above had said she checked hers again and only £400 had been taken off whereas I haven't been told what my price is (even though I already know, just haven't had an official email with the new price).

Thanks for the info. Definitely something I will look at......didn't know I was going on honeymoon 😄

Received our email too. Chosen that we'll still be attending in October - the travel restrictions are our only problem. Masks, no fireworks etc doesn't bother us but at the end of the day, we need access to the US first and foremost
I feel the same, the only thing that would stop me now is the travel restrictions. I'm making some Disney themed masks for my trip, just in case. I am a bit miffed about the fireworks, but, I have seen them more than enough times and I am not too bothered about character meet n greets or parades. Just so long as they have cupcakes and resort hopping.
My only real concern is mobile ordering, I'm hoping I can use a gift card or my currency card, using my debit or credit card will incur charges every time I use it.

Oops. I mixed you up. 😂 But I will take credit for the idea if it makes your partner happy.😉

We're using a revolut card where you can just put on £'s and it transfers to whatever currency you want.
We also have a lot of masks ready haha but knowing my luck, they won't be required when we go (which I certainly won't complain about 😉).
It's the resort hopping that's disappointing as they're not allowing you into hotels that aren't your resort stay unless you have a dining reservation booked as I LOVE resort hopping and doing a cupcake crawl (and the monorail bar crawl) which I don't know if it will be possible to do now

You can use any number of specialist overseas credit cards that do not charge a foreign exchange fee. I‘ve had a Halifax Clarity card for many years. It has always been either the choice or in top 3 of Martin Lewis recommendations
I'm with the Halifax, so I shall look into that.

Can you link me to where it says we can't resort hop because that will be the deal breaker for me.

I cannot find the link but I've been search for over 10 minutes and still come up short so apologies about that.
The only thing I have is the response to an email I sent about this which I've attached below - I'd asked if my mother-in-law who is off-site can gain access to my resort to help me in my dress as we're getting married over there and apparently there's no guarantee that can happen but I can ask at the front desk 😳.

I’m wondering if the person who got less than she was expecting was looking at the total package price, rather than just the hotel part.

I’ve figured out I’ll get a shade under £2,000 back. If it’s less than that I shall be asking questions. In a decidedly pointed tone.
