Katie & Mike TR - SBP/Bluezoo/Morocco - Dessert Party (8/5)

So the plan is SBP @ 2:30
Bluezoo @ 5:30
Morocco DP @ 8:30

So everything will be walking distance! Plus after the ceremony, it will be easy for my family to just go chill in our room while we take pictures since there will be time between the ceremony and dinner.

Congrats on your reservations. More importantly thank you for sharing the information about the food and beverage minimums at the Swan/Dolphin. :thumbsup2

Since everything is within walking distance, did DFTW tell you that you had to have motor transportation to get into your dessert party? :surfweb:

Would DFTW decorate a private dining room at the Swan/Dolphin? Or do you think it wouldn't be a problem to get an outside florist to do a little decoration in a private dining room? I think this may be a better solution :)

I was told we could meet the escort at International Gateway and just walk.

I don't know. I have a phone appointment with Rosie in a couple weeks. I will also speak with the coordinator at the Dolphin to see if they can do anything. However, I think the room looks nice enough as it is, and I don't know if I even want to waste money decorating it, especially since there will not be professional pictures there. I just wish I could rip up the bridesmaids bouquets and use them somehow as decoration because I am still aggravated on what a waste of money those will be

The Shoe Conundrum

You aren't really planning if you aren't obsessing over something, right? Well this week's dilemma revolves around the all important topic of shoes!

Ah shoes. Let me just say you'll see this smiley a lot when I discuss shoes

Now part of me wanted to wear some fabulous 4 inch heels. But then the practical part of me remembers that I am a spaz and despite having several nice pairs of heels, they mostly sit in the closet because I can't walk in them. On the first day of school I wore some nice heels, and boy did I pay for it later :sad2:

The wedding is outside, there is going to be a lot of walking, so flats it is!

Now some back story...Prior to Black Friday I repeatedly said to anyone who would listen; 'you are crazy if you go out. I am boarding myself up in my apartment and weathering the storm.'

Sure enough, Black Friday rolls around. DF and I wake up at around 8:30. I ask him what he wants to do. "Whatever you want to do," he says.

Me: ...Let's go downtown :yay:

So like a couple of lemmings heading towards the edge of a cliff, we get on a train and off we go!

The first stop is Macy's on State St. Right up to the 4th floor for shoes! I see them...

sandal2.jpg

Perfect. They are flat, they are sandals, and they are sparkley! I take a closer look.

sandal1.jpg

The pictures do not do them justice. They are amazing. Next comes the part I dread. I turn them over. :scared1:

I turn to DF. "Guess how much these cost." He takes a breathe "A hundred dollars."

"Keep going," I say.
"$200."
"Keep going."
"$300"
"Keep going."
"$400"
"Keep going."
":scared1: Are you serious! $500"
"Keep going."
"People are starving. $600."
I gesture upwards with my thumb
"$700"

"Yep," I finally reply. "$695. So with tax; $765."

He says nothing, grabs my arm and we leave  I will definitely be checking back for sales and crossing my fingers it ends up an outlet store before June :rotfl2:

Next stop is Michigan Avenue. DF finds a Borders where he spends some money on DVDs and then decides to park it with some coffee and read while I go in more "girl stores."

I go to Neiman Marcus. The one day of the year where there are enough people in the store so the sale associates don't harass me (harass me as in try to get me out of there since it's obvious I don't belong :headache:)

Again, straight to shoes. It's kind of a madhouse, because all the sale shoes which are 40% (I think) are now additionally 30% off of sale price. I spot these:
blueflip.jpg

How precious! And they would fix my "something blue" problem. Also, I would definitely wear them again, right!?!! So I flag someone down to get me a size 40.

He brings out a 40 and 41, because they run small. Well a size 40 is a US size 10. I am between an 8.5 and 9. So the 41 is a US size 11. But I try on the 41 first. It is ridiculous. I am spilling over the edge with my giant monkey feet. They are so narrow, and look ridiculous. You need really dainty, small feet to pull them off. For $300, forget it. They have to be perfect.

Defeated, I head over to Bloomindale's before I head back to Borders. They have nothing. And it's a zoo. However, I see these:

mouse1.jpg

How adorable. They are almost exactly like a similar pair I bought over the summer. The mouse face wasn't printed on the shoe, rather the features were embellishments, so it gave the shoe dimension. I ended up returning the shoes because I paid full price and figured I would rather spend the money on something I'd wear more often (I didn't know back then I'd be needing a lot of mouse-related stuff!!!)

Of course they didn't have the style I bought months ago. So it was back to Borders and then back home to search the Internet for the shoes I let slip away....

I'll just say now that I did find them online, ordered two different colors, and they are supposed to be delivered Tuesday. I will take pics and post when I receive them so you can see some 'real' pictures, rather than these one's I 'borrowed' from the Internet ;)

Well the shoes arrived early! They are actually kind of big, so I am returning them for a smaller size, but here are the pics anyway.

I also got a silver pair, but think these will go better with the dress:

Taking pictures of your feet in front of a mirror is really awkward :scared:

Well, I think they are fabulous and hopefully the smaller size fits better. These are definitely the shoes :cloud9:

For now...;) :lmao:

PrincessShea-

Hi there! Loving your PJ so far!
Us too (tee hee) will be having a 2:30 ceremony at SBP, dinner (at Jiko's Wine Room) at 5:30 and Morocco DP at 8:30....

I just wanted to interject...have you checked with your WP about the walking from IG to Morocco in your dress?

I know we're all told different things, but Tanis is my coordinator and we had a long talk about DP logistics before she left for maternity leave...I was told if I wanted to wear my dress for the DP, I would have to enter "backstage" and would not be able to walk from IG in my dress as it is too far....

Unless, your'e not planning on wearing your dress...but I know you are!!! :)

So, just confirm with your coordinator.....

Can't wait to hear more!!!

Lori

Can't wait to hear more!!!

Tis better to beg forgiveness than ask permission :lmao: I was told our guests could walk from IG and that transportation is not necessary. I have no problem entering backstage, but I am 100% not paying for some $500 bus to transport 1 person. If I can use the limo to do it, sure. But frankly I'm not bringing up the dress.

Also, I showed my mom the shoes today and she said I was "a weird one" :lmao:

Oh no, you should be good then...yep, guests can walk in from IG, only brides having DP's in Morocco have to enter through backstage if they are in their dress and so yes, you can use the limo...this is basically what I'm doing as well...:thumbsup2 for us!! LOL

So, yay!!!!!:yay:

I was so worried about having to pay a bill at the end of the meal and then not having enough money etc, I wanted it all paid for on the day so I didn't have to worry about a thing.
I'm confused....if your coordinator arranges/books the dinner or lunch and/or dessert party then they are on your BEO and is due before the wedding with the rest of it. So, those meals would be pre-paid...

I think a lot of Escape brides think they have to book the meal themselves, but that may or may not necessarilty be true. I was told that that they (the coordinators) can book any meal on the wedding date and sometimes even a dessert party the night before if it's not offered on your night (April brides ie).

Any other meals, we have to book ourselves (now if only we could make our ADR's!!!!) Aargh!!!!

I don't know for sure, but how can the meal be on the BEO if there isn't a set price? For example, if an escape bride had their WC book a casual dinner at Narcoosees, who knows what people are going to order, so how can you possibly pre-pay (assuming people order off the menu).

I don't know for sure though; maybe other escape brides who've actually gone through it will know better. I'll never find out for sure though since I'm not going through Disney for my dinner anyway now.

Yeah, I guess your'e right, but I know some restaurants do have a set menu you order from, I think Narcoossee's or Citrico's does and I know Jiko does because that's what we're doing, so you actually are paying per person..

But yeah for you, it wouldn't come in to play though...I was just confused there for a second! :rotfl:

Photography

Well I have made yet another change. I have decided to go with Studio 222 for photography. http://www.thestudioishere.com/

As I surfed around and read other people's TR's, I really started to like the style of The Root's. I got in touch with them and unfortunately they were totally out of my price range and unable to go down on the price. Their brochure has a package for $4000 for 4 hours.

Luckily though, they were nice enough to recommend Studio 222. :goodvibes I am getting 4 hours coverage with a DVD of the images and 2 photographers for $1200. Much better on the wallet!

Once I was referred I kind of became obsessed with their website. I really like the style and I think I made a good decision. I am excited; they seem like really nice people, and I am interested to see how things turn out...I just worry that our photos will never look like their portfolio ones, because we aren't...how does one say this...as photogenic and as blessed in the looks department as their other clients :lmao:

Bluezoo has a signed contract from me and the deposit. Once the date gets closer we will finalize menus and stuff, but that is one less thing to stress about.

I've also contacted Patricia LeJeune and am waiting to hear back from her about hair and makeup. I want my sister's hair done too, but I don't know if Patricia has a team of people. If she doesn't, I think that might be too much for one person to do in a couple hours and I'll have to go with someone else.

Christmas break starts at the end of this week, so I am hoping I can get some stuff done over it! I may try to tackle the invitations. I am also trying to lose weight, but with the holidays and stress of school; well...:sad2:

Patricia does have at least one assistant, because she came along for my trial run and it's her assistant who is doing my mom, my MOH and Eoghan's mom...

Both are INCREDIBLY SWEET!!!

Patricia will be doing my hair and makeup at 4:30am for my MK and EPCOT photo shoot...and I don't think she was available later to do my other peeps...

Yea, Patricia does have a team. Her head stylist is Kristy and is awesome. She did my trial run. She did exactly what I told her to do. I am going for a different look because I decided that wasn't the look I wanted, but I have complete confidence in them both. The airbrush make up is awesome. I got it put on at 9:30 and it lasted through our e-pics at 3:30 and then we went to the park. I was so exhausted that I went crashed without washing my face and it was still on the next day. :rotfl:

Phone Appointment with Rosie

Well, I had my phone appointment with Rosie. Let me just say INFORMATION OVERLOAD :rotfl:

I have so many decisions to make apparently! I am waiting for her to send me pictures of the things we talked about.

I decided to have a hand tied French bouquet. I will probably have a variety of bright pink roses with accents of purple/bluish hydrangeas or delphiniums. She wanted to know what color I wanted the bouquet tied with...I was like "I could not care less." LOL. I didn't even know that would be something people obsess about.

I guess you can also reduce the bridesmaid bouquet from 18 to 12 roses to change the price from $125 to $75. I think I might do that because who really cares. It'll make my bouquet look bigger too :lmao:

She is also going to send me some information about SBP decor. I told her I don't really know what my options are, since I am just going off what I see online. I told her though that I definitely want the chairs covered. She told me this is the website to look at for color choices http://linenshowroom.com/index.cfm?action=catalog Thought it would be helpful to post that, because I don't believe I've ever seen the link on these boards, and it's pretty helpful and thorough :thumbsup2

Here is some annoying information about the chairs. I am only going to have the ceremony chairs covered because apparently there is a whole separate setup for cake-cutting chairs. I said "can't we just use the ceremony chairs for the cake-cutting?" The answer is apparently no. 1. There is no one to move the chairs because my coordinator is the only person who will be there from Disney 2. They don't want guests moving them. LOL. I am pretty sure we are all capable of moving a plastic yard chair. Whatever. So I am only going to pay to have the ceremony chairs covered.

Then we talked about favors and decor for the dinner. I really would rather not pay to decorate Bluezoo because there aren't going to be professional pictures, and who really cares honestly? But apparently, Disney can indeed help decorate restaurants in the Dolphin/Swan (in case anyone is thinking about D/S for the dinner).

I originally thought about getting mickey hats as favors and place cards, but I think I might scratch it, because I know my family and no one will wear the hats, so it will be a waste of money. I am probably going to the chocolate place cards instead. Again, waiting for pics from Rosie.

I forgot to ask her about the unity candle :headache: I've read conflicting reports about whether or not you can have one at SBP. I want something to kill time during the ceremony. I've read through Ron's ceremony, and as a teacher I have a pretty good idea of how long things will turn out to be when I see them on paper. The ceremony is honestly going to be like 10 minutes :scared1: So I wanted the candle to add a little bulk to the ceremony. I know the sand ceremony is an option, but I dunno. I'd have to find some really nice containers. I would prefer the candle.

So to end, I thought I would post my song selections*

Groom's entrance: Someday my prince will come, Snow White
Bridal Party entrance: Colors of the Wind, Pocahontas
Bride's entrance: Bridal Chorus "Here comes the bride"
Unity candle: Beauty and the Beast, Beauty and the Beast
Recessional: Once Upon a Dream, Sleeping Beauty
Cake Celebration: Disney medley

*subject to change ;)

Invitations

Hello Disers. Hope everyone had a happy holiday! Can't believe it's going to be 2009 in a couple days!

The latest update I have are the invitations. They took a long time to do, even though it probably won't look like it.

Let's say you win a golden ticket from moi! Here is what people will see in their mailboxes. The pink stamps look much better in real life. I used special embossing power and cured them with heat, so they are raised. Doesn't photograph though.
inviteenvelop.jpg

Upon opening...
envelope.jpg

Oooo, look what's inside! I almost hate putting these online because they look a lot better in real life. All the white pages are delicately glittery and look really sparkly in real life.
invite.jpg

Here is a better look at the right side. I want to show the accent panel behind the invite. It is such a pretty glittery blue in real life.
invitecloser.jpg

A closeup of the crystal mickey at the bottom. The swirls are embossed as well, but again, hard to see in the photo.
crystalcloseup.jpg

The swirl mickey is just a cut out from a punch. Everyone here seems to like Michaels, but I had much better success at Archiver's finding supplies :thumbsup2

And finally the RSVP card and envelope

That's all for now folks. Have a great New Year's.
