Latest you can cancel a reservation canceling a reservation

We have a reservation at Chef Mickey's for the morning of our last day there. If we have to cancel due to a travel issue what's the latest I have to cancel without getting charged a fee? I'm really hoping we can keep our reservation but I won't know for sure until mid week of our trip.

They say midnight the night before. I have seen people cancel earlier in the day on the day of and not get charged. That doesn't mean it works everywhere. Canceling the night before is safest.
