1) Performed a free Vow Renewal at THE FORT Sunday for a Vet.
2) A security guard did not interfere when he saw my collar.
3) He paused his golf cart for a moment, then drove away.
4) The family had their four sons and three grandkids standing.
5) When asking for "Any Objections",
. . . The kids and grandkids ALL yelled out
. . . The husband and wife turned around abruptly.
. . . The kids and grandkids did a football-style huddle.
6) The eldest son stood up from the huddle.
. . . He said we could continue.
. . . He said they were probably were passed pregnancy ages.
. . . They said inheritances were stable, so a renewal was OK.
9) It was tough for me to remember where I left.

This was a 2nd time a joke was pulled on me during a ceremony at FW.
But, this was a little more original by mentioning inheritances.

Good story, Rusty.

It's a good thing the renewal couple weren't any younger than they were. :teeth: Or else things could have gotten sideways right there in front of you. :drive:

1. We had the ceremony and the dinner to which I was invited.
2. We discussed the inheritance objection.
3. Sure, it was a planned joke.
4. But, I suggested myself as the Estate Executor.
5. After a "proper" fee, I would be fair for distribution.

NOTE:
Of course my definition of "fair" is up to up MY personal definition..
They asked the definition of "fair".
I said it depended upon my "expenses".
There was no discussion as to my "needs" or expenses.
Alas, the wife would not list the monetary extent of the estate.
DARN!
I missed my chance at a (my) secure retirement.
Maybe next time.

Antone else need a Vow Renewal ?

This is under THE FORT forum, and not the Weddings Forum.
I am NOT trying to advertise for business.
I am just making comments regarding activities at THE FORT.
One does not try to get free ceremonies by these postings.

THAT'S how he would have handled it. Mrs. Scupper would have been getting some new $lipper$ for Christmas! :cool1:

1. Actually, new power tools are more appropriate.
2. All (ALL) house repairs or modernizations are done by her.
3. I truly have given her power tools for gifts.
4. After seven moves due to job changes, SHE did the house changes.
. . . Once, she puled down a wall while I was a work (surprise, when I came home!).
. . . She installed a tin ceiling by herself.
. . . Several times she had the house painted.
. . . She hired daughter's friends to dig out the basement foundation for water leak sealing.
. . . During 36-yrs of marriage, several times she found time for sex.

Last year, we had our 35th anniversary party at our local Irish Pub.
It was a real blowout.
We still have leftover bottles of $100/bottle of champagne (wholesale price).

Anyone having a party at FW and need some FREE really great/expensive bubbly?

Rusty, now, really, dude .... that's Too Much Information (TMI). :scared:

However, there are a number of us (me, @garneska, and @Teamubr) who will be there in mid-January 2022 at FW after @garneska and her chef/extrordinaire husband @hgarnes run the Marathon weekend and then hang around for her January birthday.

Thumper says it would be a shame ....

.... if those bottles of champagne were still lonely and unappreciated by January 2022. I know a group who would welcome them (and they're probably going to be thirsty).

Knowing that you've probably written off the book value of that capital reserve (no doubt good advice received from your tax accountant), it would be a shame if that completely depleted fungible asset was not properly and respectfully disposed of. Until they are empty, I/we won't rest. We should give them the proper send-off that they deserve. I consider it a matter of honor.
