Monsters, Haunted Houses, Scare Zones and more. HHN 30 fun trip.

Great pictures though. Way too graphic for me....but then again...as an empath I have a very hard time with scenes like that. Some members of my family...they would LOVE that!!!

Thank you pumpkin. Glad you are enjoying the pictures.

What is so nice about HHN is that families that vacation during HHN can enjoy park time during the day and the family members that want to attend HHN can go during the evening. I overheard a number of people doing this.

After puppet theatre we took a quick bathroom break by MIB. I wanted to look at the ScareCrow Stalk scene and learn more about the actual map etc.

Last year even though HHN had been canceled they still had the Tribute Store open. Two houses opened for everyone to see Tooth Fairy and Bride of Frankenstein and the ScareCrow Stalk.

The map for the Scarecrow Stalk last year was free if I remember correctly and the vignettes were only in stores at Universal.

There was Trick or Treating for children last year at designated stores in IOA that had the sign in the window.

This year you had to purchase a candy bar for $10.00 and the map was located inside the candy bar. You also received a small trick or treat bag. The ScareCrow vignettes were located in both Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure and CityWalk. After you had your map stamped at each location you received a couple pieces of candy in your bag.

This was a nice option to do as a family or by yourself if you were interested.

After our quick break we were onto The Haunting of Hill House.

David told us that the person in the window would change every few hours during the night. I didn’t pick up on the person in the window when I went through the house the first time.

The exterior was visually stunning. The amount of detail in its construction was beautifully done.

More to come

Wow! Incredible time and effort put into these HHN houses. The creators are very talented people!

In addition to the 2 houses I saw last year, I went to the tribute store and did the Scarecrow Stalk. There is so much to do/see at UO during the Halloween timeframe.

The houses are so well done.

The Tribute Store last year was nice and I enjoyed doing the ScareCrow Stalk last year too. I was glad I did it. They have really incorporated a lot more Halloween things to do. The addition of the Halloween Boutique at IOA was a nice addition this year.

The Haunting of Hill House was impressive.

David asked us if we wanted to get a picture outside the Beetlejuice House.

It was time for out lunch break so we headed to Monsters Cafe. I took a couple pics on the way in Gorewood Forest.

Having lunch at Monsters Cafe was a nice addition this year to the tour. You chose your lunch from a list of options before the tour started. Then once we arrived at the cafe we gave them our name and they gave us our tray of food and we went to the cashier and paid.

I really like the inside theming of Monsters Cafe.

It was so fun walking around and looking at all the photos again.

I ordered the barbecue sandwich and fries. I’am glad I asked for extra barbecue sauce. It was a big sandwich and could easily feed 2. The meat did not have much flavor to it.

I will be honest I have never liked the food at Monsters Cafe. Maybe I’am just ordering the wrong things.

During lunch David walked around to make sure everyone was having a nice time. He asked everyone if there were any questions he could answer. He is a wonderful Tour guide.

The Cafe was closed to regular park guests during the day when the Unmasking the Horror Tours were going on.

For the significant increase in price of the Tour this year Universal should include some snacks and beverages at La Bamba or at Monsters Cafe.

I’am not complaining at all just thinking of ways that would improve the overall experience.

Over time the lunch time during the UMH Tour evolved from you being given a time to run and get lunch. Which was hard to do. To them having hot dogs and pretzels for you to purchase to Monsters Cafe this years.

So it is moving in the right direction for sure.

The attention to detail was awesome. Even the door knobs were cool.

Don’t think so, the food is scariest thing there :duck: Sadly, the decor is great, could be such a winner. We did enjoy a decent buffet for a scareactor dinner a few years ago, leading me to believe they could do far better.:confused3

It’s located when you enter the house to the left. It is very easy to miss in the dark. I did not see it when I went through the House the first time at night.

Really enjoying the tour pictures. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you. I’am so glad your enjoying the pictures.

Such an excellent job in all of them!

Thank you Mac.

Your welcome. Thank you for following along.

Robbie, with your permission, would love to include a link to this thread in the ‘official HHN” thread. Think it would help many decide if they wanted to book a light’s on tour in the future, as well as be a great read. :scratchin

That would be great. I hope others get inspired to love HHN as much as we all do.

Janet thank you for your hard work on the HHN thread. It has helped so many plan their HHN trips and continues to be a source of information for everyone wanting to attend.

Also a very big thank you to the Queen of HHN Mac . She has been so helpful to many many folks over the years. She has shared her love of HHN with others and helped with all the needed information to make sure that everyone has a great time at HHN.

Walking through The Texas Chainsaw Massacre House was gore galore.....LOL...I’am always fascinated by the arrangement of the rooms and all the smallest details that go into creating them. You all probably remember the distinctive smell when you went through the house at night. The details of each house are very easily missed during the night.
Doing the daylight UMH Tour allows you to see all the details in each house.

For me it really makes each house come alive.

To me Haunted Houses should be constructed to evoke the senses. Seeing, hearing, smell, touch and taste.

A few of the past HHN houses like Krampus and The Exorcist really hit it out of the park when the olfactory component was added. The Exorcist was really strong. Those of you who went through it remember.

In 2017 ScareCrow the Reaping was awesome as it caught everyone off guard when you entered the area of the house where you could hear the birds in the dark in the cornfield and then you felt what the birds do naturally (was actually sprinkles of water, but the effect was priceless)...LOL

Also in 2017 was one of my very favorite houses of all time was The Fallen.

It was like entering some place I would think Hell would be like. It was visually frightening. It was fire and brimstone, evil fallen angels it smelled hot like what I would imagine brimstone would smell like.

There were technical aspects in that house that pushed it over the top for me. There was a fallen angel that flew at you, one that flew over you and one that looked like it was going to fall on as you exited the house. That was in addition to all the other things happening in the house.

In 2018 Universal had a Q&A for AP holders at the Pantages Theatre to meet and ask questions to some of the HHN house creators. I asked the creators who came up with the idea for The Fallen House and what was the inspiration for the house. . The creator of the house said it was from a dream he had. Sadly I can’t remember his name, but what a dream.

I hope Universal brings back the Q&A again.

Universal has really began to evolve HHN from just Haunted Houses, RIP Tours, Unmasking The Horror Tours and a few food and drink choices in just the few short years I have been attending.

Now there is the ScareCrow Stalk with Trick or Treat. The food and drink options really exploded this year. They added the beautiful Halloween Boutique in the Lost Continent at IOA, and they have really grown the design and the products sold in the Tribute Store and in their other stores.

The houses that are created by Universal are movie quality houses. It is a Halloween event like no other.

Can’t tell I like HHN can you......LOL

Back to the Unmasking the Horror Tour
