Nature Photography

Can anyone tell us of excursions on Eastern cruise that would be beautiful and leisurely for a nature (floral, etc.) photography buff.

(Almost Sr. citizens but we prefer to be "prime timers") Also enjoy sketching and viewing all types of architecture. We probably won't do a beach or snorkleing activity.

In my opinion Castaway Cay has the most beautiful scenery around with all the swaying palm trees and beautifully colored umbrellas.....

The ship itself has all sorts of great architecural features...you will find lots to sketch. Make sure you take the guided tour of the ship which explains all the architecure and artwork onboard. It will be listed in the Navigator and is usually on the first or second day. Not the self-guided tour but the guided tour.

We also took the tour of the ship, it was great, they pointed out so many details that I would never have noticed. there was even a gentleman there with his laptop typing all the information that was given to us by our guide.

The tour of St. John was also very beautiful. The scenery was much prettier than St. Martin. IMHO.

Can't wait to meet you on our cruise. 2 weeks to go!!!!

The Butterfly Farm excursion at St. Maartin has some great opportunities for nature photography. The only problem is they don't spend a whole lot of time there. If you go, just skip the lecture ( it's mainly for children) and start exploring the compound. It's not very big, but is full of flowers, iguanas and of course, butterflies.

Another vote for the Butterfly Farm in St. Maarten. We loved this and were able to get some great photos. It was a very leisurely tour of the island, farm and Marigot. I highly recommend it! Here is a link to some photos from that excursion: http://community.webshots.com/album/51603710ShVXFo
