New Disney cruise ship to set sail from Singapore from 2025

Interesting in that they say the eighth and largest ship. So will Triton 3 be sailing before the mega ship do we think? I can’t see how that would be possible.
I think it is because the others were announced first.

Is the ship, the one Disney picked up "cheaply" because no one else wanted it, or is it the third ship in the Triton series?

Disney are bringing the Wonder back to Sydney for 2024/2025, so this will be interesting in 2025.

It's the one they picked up cheaply. I believe any that Disney actually builds is required to home port from port Canaveral for a period of time.

This is the "cheap" big ship that was originally built for another company that Disney bought. I'm interested to see what Disney will do to it.

From the Straits Times:

Mr Josh D’Amaro, the chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences and Products, said: “We are incredibly excited to make Singapore the home port to our seventh-launched ship, which will sail from here year-round starting in 2025.”

The news article says "eighth" but the quote from Disney's Josh D'Amaro says "We are incredibly excited to make Singapore the home port to our seventh-launched ship, which will sail from here year-round starting in 2025." This indicates the ship in Singapore will launch after the Treasure but before the next Triton-class ship, which makes sense since the megaship is mostly complete and build on Triton 3 has probably not been started yet.

Singapore is amazing; I'd love to go back. Just need to convince DW that the crowds are ok; she's not one for them.

The nearby ports are also super fun. Hong Kong, Australia, Malaysia & the greater South Pacific/Oceania. Amazing. On a long reach going west, there's India.

Like I was told growing up, "We'd be bored to tears if we all liked the same thing."
I don't argue that at all, you are correct. Thus the reason I said, "It's way to big for Me." There are some who would say go big or go home.

All good! I would consider it if it was going to be based in a US port but I won't traveling to Singapore. Either way, I'm interested to see more detailed renderings.

PLEASE PLEASE have a three park itinerary (and yes I know Tokyo has 2 parks, but I only need to go to one still). That has been since I began sailing on DCL. I want to go back to Japan and this would be just an amazing add on.

That would be a very long cruise. None of the parks are close.

It could be one way with stops just in those places. I think it is doable. Princess has 15 night cruises with six additional stops so take out those...

I don't think you could do it in under two weeks. So far, Disney seems to cap cruises at two weeks and even those are very rare. They usually only do a few each year.

In the Asian Market I can see them making stops in Tokyo with an excursion to Tokyo DisneyLand, and a few itineraries going to Syndey and New Zealand

Will be interesting if the Asian market can sustain a ship that big year round; Disney is popular but so is gambling...
Well the ship was designed with a casino so it may end up with one under the Disney banner since it is going to be in a part of the world for 5 years where having gambling is necessary. If they want to move it elsewhere it would be due for a dry dock after those 5 years and they could re-purpose that area.
Sort of like how Disney lowers the drinking age when the ships are in Europe, Australia and New Zealand. They adapt to the local expectations and laws.

I think a lot of people here are underestimating how far away everything is. Some of the other cruise lines in the area have itineraries that go to Tokyo or to Perth or to Sydney or to Mumbai, but all of those itineraries are one-way and at least 12 nights. So far, Disney doesn't seem keen to run a lot of cruises like that. They seem to prefer the 3- to 7-night cruises with some rare cruises of longer durations and none longer than 14 nights. One-way cruises are also pretty rare and any given one-way cruise is offered once a year at most. I just can't see them turning into something like Celebrity with a bunch of 12-night+ cruises.

And I really, really doubt that this ship will have a casino. It's going to be a Disney ship throughout.

I'm pretty excited about this. I'll most likely be living in Japan by 2025 (research) and would really love to try for the inaugural.
I wonder how expensive it will get :scared:
