But a real person wrote those lines. It does. It seems as though it's the "fictional character" vs "real person" factor.

This is the question I was really getting at. I mean, let's look at racial slurs and stereotypes. If a star tweeted something racial, there would definitely be a backlash. And yet then we have movies like A Million Ways to Die in the West.
in light of today’s news. I know this’ll be a hotbed for debates and then when someone gets hurt they’ll cry here like every Roseanne thread or hall of presidents thread we’ve had in the past but I don’t want this so I’m just asking this and I want it to be short: how much will the coaster be affected?
I think it’s more that it is something that you read. When something is in print in in tweet in this instance it has no tone. When you hear someone saying something it often feels completely different than just reading what they said.My question: why is this sort of "humor" okay in movies, or as stand up comedy, but as soon as it's said outside of that context, it's no longer okay? So many comedy movies and stand up comedians with degrading, offensive comments and no one bats an eye. They applaud it, laugh and eat it up. But as soon as the same thing is tweeted or posted on Facebook... Well OMG what a horrible human being. The hypocrisy and double standards...

Also seeing *all* of them together with like not context just the words it is really starting and upsetting and just wrong
If this was 10 years ago and you followed the account for the “humor” or knowing, at least, jokes are part of it, and one of them come out at a time, might not be same impact

I completely respect the viewpoint on the content and totally get it but even with the issues the MPAA can have they do give descriptive detail (more than they used to).
For Guardians of the Galaxy it was rated PG-13 with the following description for why: Rated PG-13 for intense sequences of sci-fi violence and action, and for some language
For Guardians of the Galaxy 2 (edited: added the number) it was rated PG-13 with the following description for why: Rated PG-13 for sequences of sci-fi action and violence, language, and brief suggestive content
As for the question of why add in suggestive humor..IDK.
But without a doubt Marvel is not nor do I believe has ever intended to be 'classic Disney'. Marvel def. is an adult feel for me with Deadpool being the most adult content. And honestly, I think that's ok.
I acknowledged that I let my guard down re: reading the MPAA rating for GotG 2. I *do* think there is a clear difference in content between the Disney Marvel movies and the Fox or other production companies movies. I don’t just assume that because it’s Marvel, it’s family friendly. But I do think it’s reasonable for one to have the expectation that if “Movie” is relatively tame, especially for suggestive content, then Movie’s sequel would be also. But obviously, that isn’t always the case.
I hate Twitter!!!
I imagine that Disney was very aware of what he was like. However they have a certain image to protect and when more detail about him became public then they had to distance themselves. Such behavior just isn't going to fly in today's environment. No impact on the ride at all.
But since folks seem to be discussing Gunn ...
I'm a huge film geek and was shocked (yet ecstatic) when Disney choose Gunn for GoTG. Disney knew who they were getting! He's been known for controversial film making for years. He cut his teeth with Troma! ... known for Toxic Avenger, Class of Nukem' High, Surf Nazis Must Die etc ... This is the guy who wrote Terror Firmer, Lollipop Chainsaw, Slither, Beezel, Belko Experiment etc ... We're talking about someone who came from a film-making background that was VERY un-Disney
I love him as a filmmaker (don't agree with many of his statements), but his background is well known in Hollywood. Gunn's style and humor is not for everyone which is why I was shocked year's ago when Disney choose him.
Without bringing politics or the tweets into the discussion at all, in my opinion Disney had to know the type of person and history they were bringing into the Marvel Film group
He only wrote it, didn’t direct it. Maybe you can’t have a philosophical discussion if you don’t care to do proper research for facts. Which again is what I wanted to prevent with this thread. I hope the mods lock it especially seeing my question was answered

It's reasonable to excuse stuff from a teenager years later. That wasn't the case here. One of my team's star pitchers got into hot water (and almost suspended) for tweets he made AS A TEENAGER.
This digging up the past witch hunt stuff has got to stop. EVERYONE makes stupid, comments that would offend someone at some time in their life, on purpose, inadvertently, as a joke, or just from naivety.
I don't understand a society so quick to punish people for past mistakes.
That being said -- will Gunn's firing affect the ride at Epcot?
MOST people don't care or even know who a director is for any given movie, so it won' affect the box office of Guardians 3, not would it even come close to "tarnishing" an attraction based on that IP.
People are going to go to SWGE despite the Last Jedi being "underwhelming" in a lot of ways.

Fellow Brewer fan?One of my team's star pitchers got into hot water (and almost suspended) for tweets he made AS A TEENAGER.
Those who have twitter. Not sure if you’ve seen but several stars of the guardians films have tweeted things in response to the James Gunn news.
