Not quite. Kessel Run is the virtual half and the Half Marathon of Star Wars Rival Run weekend. While many runners, myself included add the challenge component to Kessel Run, you do not have to run the challenge to earn Kessel. You just have to finish the virtual half and Star Wars Half Marathon. And keep in mind that while runDisney awards race medals to swept runners, if you are registered for a challenge and do not finish all the races in that challenge, you do not receive the challenge medal.Dd is doing the Kessel run challenge, which I believe is the virtual half and the challenge?
Thanks. I don’t think she realises the Kessel Run is only the two halves. I’ll have to tell her. She loves her medals though. I bet she does the challenge. Not quite. You're welcome. I can see how confusing it gets especially with this being the only virtual half marathon that runDisney offers and the various meanings of the word challenge in runDisney. As it turns out, the Star Wars challenge races wound up helping me enjoy running much more than I previously did and served as an eventual gateway to the marathon/Dopey.Thanks. Yes but it’s not advertised or recommended. Can bibs be picked up on the day of the race?
Is it a really bad idea? It would be better for me to fly in the Friday rather than the Thursday. Not sure how late the expo is open. I’ll check that now. I could fly out as early as 2pm on the Friday. Land in Orlando five if on time. ME to the hotel. Than to expo. Pretty tight, I’m sure.Yes but it’s not advertised or recommended.
Disney could do away with pre race pick up at anytime. I would not count on/specifically fly into use it. Expo hours should be on the website already. You are better off flying in and using an Uber to go directly to the expo.Is it a really bad idea? It would be better for me to fly in the Friday rather than the Thursday. Remember Gold & Silver passes will be blocked until Saturday too!

I agree. Not looking to abuse the system. The way flight times look, I’m sticking with Thursday.Bib pick up the morning of the race is unadvertised and intended to be for emergency use only. The more people use it for non-emergency, convenience reasons, the more likely it is that they do away with it in the future. Uber-ing directly from the airport to the Expo as @rteetz suggested is probably the best and safest option.
I understand the policy, but what do they define as emergency? In my case, I'm coming from the west coast and cannot leave until Thursday the 16th. That makes the 5K very, very difficult if not impossible with bib pickup only at the Expo. All that said, I understand why bib pickup is only available at the Expo. It just means for me that I have to skip the 5K since I cannot make the timing work.Bib pick up the morning of the race is unadvertised and intended to be for emergency use only. All that said, I understand that opening it up likely creates bigger problems for them. Sure I want them to accommodate my very tight travel arrival window, but if they advertise bib pickup at the race, then what's to stop someone from essentially showing up early the morning of the race, picking up the bib, and leaving right after the race. And in fairness to runDisney, I have run a race where no race day bib pickup is even allowed although that race does offer mail if you register early enough.
As much as I would take advantage of Disney resort bib pickup if offered, I understand why they don't offer it. They make a lot of money at the Expo and want to give me a reason to possibly spend more money at the Expo.
Makes sense. Because honestly, even if I knew I could pick up the 5K bib at the 5K race and get everything else at the Expo after the 5K, it would still be an extra source of something to deal with and worry about on race morning. They don’t define what constitutes an emergency. Probably because the emergency bib pickup is not guaranteed to be available. People have even contacted rD directly and been told there’s no guarantee it’ll be there. I think it’s rD’s way of allowing for the vagaries and uncertainty in the amount of travel required for runners to get to the events while not opening the door for hundreds, if not thousands, of people who find it inconvenient or just don’t want to deal with the Expo constraints to skip it entirely. It would be a logistical nightmare to have bib pickup officially available the morning of the race.
