what determines your 30 day window. onsite uses their check-in date. what criteria is used for offsite guests. i assume now it's the date of their
start date on their ticket. how was it done before date based tickets

Before date based tickets, offsite guests could pretty much make a FP for any day in the next 30 days. They often used that feature to "practice" making FP. But you are correct in that now the 30 days is calculated before the ticket's valid dates.

When you buy a ticket now you have to determine when you are going to be there. With that information it is easy to figure out 30 days advance time. The price of your ticket is determined by the day you intend to use it. I don't know how they figure out FP's for AP's.
