I'll be on the December 13 - 20th Eastern Cruise. Is there anything special happening on the cruise during the weeks prior to Christmas? I know that the ship is decorated. Do you bring Christmas decorations, even though it's the week before Christmas?

Has anyone sailed just before Christmas?

Sandie

We have sailed the second week of December each year. Yes the ship is beautifully decorated, bring a lot of film, The CM's are very kind and will take a picture for you with your own camera when you are posing for the ships photographers pictures. Each year they have had a tree lighting ceramony, there are many christmas trees on board but they make a big deal of the one the HUGE one in the lobby (it is two flights tall!) One night they have christmas caroling from around the world with the crew singing songs from their various contries. They have a big gingerbread house that is constructed during the week (it smells wonderfull!) and a class on making your own gingerbread house (we have never done this but I have seen people walking around with them) I think they had Mrs. Claus reading christmas stories by the tree one night. Oh Mickey, Minnie and Goofey dressed in their christmas duds one night for photos. It is a great time to get things in the gift shop as they go on clearance for the new year. (ie: 2002 photo albums and frames were marked down to half price) I am sure there is more but that is all I can think of right now.

We're sailing on the Dec 6th cruise. Will the ship be decorated then, as well?

Sandie....Ann didn't mention it..but she and her family, as well
as my family and I will be on the same cruise.

We have never cruised Christmas either and are looking forward to seeing the decorations. We haven't talked about decorating
our cabin...but after seeing your post and reading Ann's....I might just do it. I might take a little tree and have some Christmas on
the ship..although DD "understands" about Christmas...she still
wants to "partake" in all the goodies...if you get my drift!!!! And then I might get Shirley to fix something up for us. We usually
celebrate a birthday on one of our cruises....but this will be extra
special.

Do you have any kids going on the cruise?? Our dd is 10, almost 11 by then(thinks she's 21 though) and Ann has a son about the same age I think.

Keep in touch
Phyllis

Yes they will be they go up right after thanksgiving!

Hi Phyllis,
I wouldn't bother bringing a tree, there are SO many up around the ship you will get great photo ops!. One of my favorites is on deck five right outside of the theature next to a semicircle bench. You can sit on the bench and the tree it behind you in the picture. Last year it was a silver one with blue ornaments, went great with my formal gown (wan't that nice of them to color coordinate with me? ;) )

How about New Years Eve? We are sailing on the 31st - I would assume the decorations would still be up? Hope so.

I would think they still are up until after new years. I know at our house they come down the day after new years so I would assume that the ship keeps them up until then too.

Hi Phyllis!

Yes.. Ann and I have boys the same age. My son is 10, and will be 11 by Christmas. Mike will be 10 1/2 I believe.

I'm bringing a small tree and some decorations for the cruise. We're going to Pop Century after the cruise, for Christmas, so we'll have the tree for that too. Right now, Dana (my son) still believes.. but I'm not sure if he will by then. However... since he does now.. he's right into getting it all set up. :-)
