With the violence taking place in Africa, I would think twice about doing it, I just saw on Dateline a few nights ago about this group who was on a safari and on their last day they were attacked by rebels from a neighboring country and a number of them were killed, and this was supposed to be a safe area on a government reserve.
With so many places in the world that are safer, I'd think of something else. Just checked the State Departments website. if you want to do a safari, go to Animal Kingdom,

WARNING (ISSUED MAY 30, 2001): The Department of State warns U.S. citizens to defer travel to the Central African Republic due to the uncertain security situation following an attempted coup in the capital city of Bangui. On May 28, military forces loyal to former President Kolingba launched an attack on a number of government and military installations. Fighting is limited to Bangui and its suburbs; other regions of the Central African Republic remain calm. Bangui's international airport is under government control but is closed to regularly scheduled commercial air service.

COUNTRY DESCRIPTION: The Republic of Congo is a developing nation in central Africa. Civil conflict in 1997, late 1998 and early 1999 damaged parts of the capital and large areas in the southwest area of the country. Peace accords, which concluded in late 1999, have largely brought an end to the conflict, and no new hostilities have occurred. Restoration is now underway in Brazzaville and other cities; however, facilities for tourists remain limited.
