In addition to the disney parks, we also went to Magic Mountain, Knottsberry and Universal. Here's what we thought.

Magic Mountain

This is a great coaster park. We love roller coasters of all kinds and this is definitely the place to ride them. Goliath is really huge and fast, Viper is great with all the loops. Riddlers Revenge (stand up) and Batman (inverted) were also really good. We did not get to ride Superman because the wait was almost 2 hrs. This park is not for everyone, but if you like thrill rides then definitely go. We found a $10 off coupon per person in the travel book at Denny's on Harbor. All other coupons we found were only $2 off.

Universal

Another one of our favorites we loved the Waterworld show, Backdraft, Back to the Future, ET, T2, and Jurassic. The other shows are really good too. The studio tour is pretty good, but much of it is just looking at the outside of soundstages and they tell you what was filmed there. We had a fun day there and walked through city walk on our way out. DH is a nascar fan and had a great time doing the NASCAR silicon racing. Very realistic he says. There are $4 off coupons all over the place.

Knottsberry.

I cannot recommend this park. The only good ride was Ghostrider and the rest of the park just looked old. There were a lot of kiddie rides, but really nothing there for us and we paid more to enter here than Magic Mountain. It was $35 with a $5 off coupon. It wasn't till later that I found a $10 off in one of the travel books.

Downtown Disney and Restaurants

DD was a fun place to shop although the world of Disney store is bigger in FL. The layout is nice and we spent a few evenings walking around. Here are some of the restaurants we ate at: ESPN-good burgers and pasta. Rainforest Cafe - always one of our favorites everything is good here. Goofy's Kitchen - loved the buffet here. Mrs Knotts Chicken Dinner - good chicken, reasonable prices, nothing spectacular. Everywhere else was themepark counterservice and it was fine also.

Well I guess that's about it. I hope everyone else has as much fun on their trip as we did.

Hi Shelly,

What day did you go to Magic Mtn? How was the crowd?

Did you see 'X' coaster that's new for 2001?

Thanks.

We went on Sunday March 25th. It was only open on weekends in March. The park was medium crowded, meaning there were a lot of people around, but waits were not too long except on Superman and Riddler's Revenge in the afternoon. We did all the headliners in the AM except Superman and by the time we got there the line was way too long to wait in. I really was excited about possibly being able to ride the 2 new coasters however we saw no sign of them anywhere. There was construction in the back corner of the park near the psyclone, but there was no visible new track. I guess they must be running behind schedule.

Too bad you paid so much for entrance to Knotts. You should have stopped by Ralph's Food Store and bought tickets where we always do each summer. They only cost around $16 for a day pass. If you're not from the area, I guess that's not a possibility. For all others who live in SC, get the tickets at Ralphs. Other alternative, is enter after 4pm when they have a great discount.
bye
