Princess was the first line to position cruises as ideal for single travelers. They did it via the hit TV series, The Love Boat, which used shots of Princess ships and ran from 1977 to 1986. With the help of Captain Stubing, Julie, Gopher and a little high-seas magic, solo travelers (of all ages) rarely stayed that way for long.
Since the series ended, cruise lines frankly haven't done much to attract singles, preferring to advertise to couples and families in order to fill every berth on the ship. I've wondered for a long time what we could do to help make it easier for singles to enjoy the best vacation option of them all.
So today, with a little help from our friends at Princess, Carnival, Holland America and Royal Caribbean, I'm pleased to announce the new Singles Division of Vacations To Go.
Starting with the January 30, 2005, sailing of the Carnival Conquest, we will offer one escorted singles cruise per month, featuring great group discounts and many singles-only activities onboard. Our first 4 Singles Cruises are now available for booking.
We've selected popular itineraries on large, newer ships that cater to different audiences, so solo cruisers of all ages and tastes can find a good fit.
Singles who wish to avoid the single supplement imposed by every cruise line may bring a friend or use our new Match Program to be paired with a roommate. Private cabins are available for those who prefer one.
Onboard, our host or hostess will organize exclusive singles cocktail parties, mixers, games, group excursions, single-mingle dining and more. All to ensure that our single guests have a great time and enjoy their cruise to the fullest.
