Day 1: Part 2: Dinner at Be Our Guest!
I’ll admit that I was not one that immediately jumped on the BOG bandwagon when the restaurant first opened. The menu looked good, but I didn’t understand all the fuss. I didn’t even try for an ADR during our March 2014 trip. Nor did I try for a FP for lunch. It wasn’t until I had a friend post some photos and a video on FB that made me second guess my decision. So I bit the bullet and began stalking the website for a dinner reservation (lunch didn’t appeal to me) for our April trip. Surprisingly, I was able to get one for our first night within about 2 weeks, YES!
We checked in at 5:30 for our 5:50 reservation. We were given a pager and it went off pretty quickly. We were escorted inside the gate and we waited. And waited. Other people came inside the gate and were brought inside. Still we waited. So I asked, they said we would be called and to wait. So we waited. For about 30 minutes. I was thinking maybe our pager wasn’t supposed to go off? I was confused. Eventually we were seated.
We had a nice spacious table in the Ballroom. It was absolutely beautiful! Our waitress was sweet as could be and I was delighted to see they had sweet and low. I love iced tea and didn’t realize that most of Disney World didn’t have sweet and low, my sweetener of choice. I had slipped some packet in my purse, but didn’t need them here! DH started with a diet coke, DD9 had a root beer and DD5 had milk. We had some delicious rolls and butter, which I forgot to get a photo of. Sorry!
At this point we heard some loud thunder, and out walked the Beast! He was HUGE!
Before long, our entrees came out.
Allie went with the grilled fish, which she loved.

Grilled Fish of the Day - served with Whole-Grain Rice Pilaf, Seasonal Vegetables, and Fruit Cup for dessert)
Kate chose the steak, which she also devoured!

DH had the braised pork and I managed to sneak a bite. It was very tender and full of flavor. He really enjoyed it and cleaned his plate.
(
Braised Pork (Coq au Vin Style) - eight hour slow-cooked pork with mushrooms, onions, carrots, and bacon served with pureed cauliflower and seasonal vegetables)
I had the steak and asked for the baked macaroni and cheese. I’m sure glad I did, because that mac and cheese was AMAZING! I also enjoyed the steak and green beans. It was about this time that I started slapping myself for not eating here sooner.
(
Grilled Strip Steak - with garlic-herb butter and pommes frites)
After we finished, our waitress brought around the dessert cart. We were on the dining plan and she said we could all pick a dessert from the cart. I was relieved to hear this because I didn’t think the girls would want a fruit cup!
Both DDs chose the chocolate cupcake. It was very very rich. They picked at it, but didn’t finish it. I’m not sure if it was because they were full or if it was because it was really that rich…
(
Triple Chocolate Cupcake - chocolate sponge cake, chocolate mousse filling, and chocolate ganache)
DH and I both chose the Grey Stuff. I will admit that I’m not a big dessert fan. If we weren’t on the dining plan, I probably wouldn’t have ordered anything. However, I absolutely LOVED this dessert! The crust was yummy and the mousse was light.
