Anyone make this trip? I was wondering the best option, and how long it might take.

I haven't. But, I vaguely recall that the market is due to shut down and be moved in the somewhat near future.

You may want to double check whether it will be open to the public and where it will be located at the time of your trip.

My friend just came back from Japan and tourists aren't allowed to view the auctions for now. You can still go to the area to shop but only on the outside of the market, not on the inside. When they move to the newer building, there will be a 2nd floor with glass that you can view the auction.
