Vero Beach-half day things to do

Hi, heading to VB in August for 4 nights prior to heading up to Bay Lake-we've never stayed there, (did stop in years ago while in the area). We like to do half day type of things, then spend afternoon relaxing. I'm thinking Sebastian Inlet, going into Vero shopping, we like walking around "beach towns" (3 adults), animal related activities-any suggestions?

Visit both Mclarty and Mel Fisher treasure museums. The movie at Mel’s is really good, and shows the history of the Treasure Coast.
It’s a fun time, and educational. Both together would be no more than a 1/2 day.

Pelican Island Wildlife Refuge is just up the road. Very nice to walk around. You can also rent bikes at the resort and follow The Jungle Trail up and down the Indian River. We also enjoyed the McKee Botanical Garden which is more in the city of VB.
