Walts- 9th April (Easter Monday)
We had phoned the week before to reserve a table at 1.00. We found ourselves stood outside at just after 12.00 feeling tired, hot, hungry and thirsty so decided to ask if they could bring our time forward. They checked their bookings but could not find one for us. (So advice there is that if you have reserved by phone check when you arrive).
However they were able to offer us a table at 12.30 when they opened. This suited us fine.
We returned after about 10 minutes and waited a short time in the lovely area downstairs. (Just long enough to look round and take a photo).
We were then told we could go up and were the first people in. We were seated in a small area- not really a room but more of a corridor with a trellis separating the tables from the walkway. It was quite a nice area, quiet and good for people watching as you could see other families coming up the stairs. There were only 3 tables- 2 beside the windows and one slightly in. We were seated at the one slightly in. I suppose we could have asked for a window one but it didnt really matter and we could still see out of the window a bit.
DD was given the childrens menu which had puzzles on the back to colour in (based on the theme of healthy eating!!!)
There were 3 options:
Menu Dingo- Green Salad, Burger (in bun) with potatoes and vegetables, followed by crème caramel.
Menu Bambi-Hard boiled egg shaped like a mushroom with tomatoe on top with lettuce, Cheese ravioli with tomato and cream sauce followed by fruit salad
Menu Belle et le Clochard- Raw vegetables and tomatoes with cheese dip, Chicken with spaghetti and vegetables followed by apple puree.
Cost was 12E including drink of orange, milk or water.
DD opted for Menu Dingo. I didnt get the impression you could mix and match as has been suggested on another thread but we didnt think of asking.
The three courses all came together served on a Mickey shaped plate with 2 small bowls for starter and dessert. DD enjoyed it but the salad did have quite a lot of dressing on. I think she would have preferred the veg and dips and the fruit salad for dessert. Its a shame you cant mix and match really but the way its served is fun.
The adults menu is still the same as on DLP Food guide but the desserts have changed. DH and I werent sure if we wanted 2 or 3 courses so were going to decide after wed eaten our main course but we were asked to decide at the beginning which option we were going for.
We both ordered Chicken Caesar Salad delicious and just the right amount.
DH then had steak, with Béarnaise sauce, potatoes and vegetables.
I had Chicken supreme with potatoes and vegetables.
Both were delicious and again just the right amount.
By now I was struggling and probably shouldnt have ordered a dessert but as we had said we were going to have one I thought I might as well order something.
Cant remember the name of it but it was 3 large craqueline circles (like brandy snaps) filled with a white chocolate cream with strawberries.
DH had the Gourmet Chocolate dessert - some kind of chocolate and orange mousse with chocolate ice cream. Both were delicious.
We had ordered soft drinks and a jug of tap water. Part way through the meal the waiter brought a bottle of water for us. We said we hadnt ordered it but he said it was from him as we were having to wait for our main course. To be honest I hadnt noticed the wait- it was just nice sitting down and taking in the atmosphere.

The couple next to us (I think Spanish or Italian) only ordered a starter and coffee. The waiter needed to go to check with someone but they were allowed it and that was during the main meal time. Useful info if you dont want a big meal but want to try the restaurant- its always worth asking.
All in all we really enjoyed the meal. It was the first time we had eaten here and would definitely do it again but we might ask about mixing the childrens menus.
