WDW for Couples - Post your questions and suggestions here!!!

So glad to have found this thread! We are empty nesters, live in FL, own DVC and usually have APs. It is different going to WDW without the kids and we are having a blast.

Happy to sit on a bench (or more likely the lounge at HBD or the Rose and Crown garden) and people watch, talk and just take in the amazing atmosphere. Some of our favorite more adult things have been: Jiko wine tasting (Wednesdays at 3:00), Lunch with an Imaganeer at HBD, the restaurant tour at AKL (free), and all newer tapas-style offerings like Spice Road Table and Tutto Gusto. But like I said, we are happy to just take in the theming and atmosphere at each park and resort!

Next trip is a once-in-a-lifetime trip. Meeting my sister and her husband for an adult trip for the first time. For the past decade, we have only spent time together taking care of our aging parents, funerals etc. We are going all out, two nights at Swan and Dolphin Food and Wine (staying at the Dolphin), moving to BC and trying Chef's Counter at FF, Premium Package at F&W, Narcoossee's, Jiko Wine Tasting and lots of time at F&W. We will do some things together and some things couples only. I can not wait!

Your next trip sounds great!

I Love the idea of wine tasting at jiko - my dh doesn't drink - is this something you can do by yourself (?are you sat in a group) or is it better as a couple?

Also where is spice rd table ? Thank you x x

Spice Road Table is the new water side restaurant in Morrocco at Epcot

Ok
I'm looking for any suggestions for something exciting / different to do on our last morning-

BUT

We won't have a car and we won't have any park tickets left!

We will be staying at BWV , our cases will be all packed and we plan on leaving luggage with bell services so we can do something.

Our town car will be picking us up approx 2pm from boardwalk as our flight leaves 18.30 from Sanford.

I don't wanna waste the morning but need some suggestions -

Any ideas are really appreciated - perhaps is there any activities / tours at a disney resort - the day will be a Thursday

Thank you for your help .

MrsJobba1: Close from the Boardwalk is the Fantasia Fairways Mini-Golf that DH and I love (there is an "adult" course that it very challenging and fun, but we tried the family one and it was really fun as well). If you have a vacation package, you might have a coupon that you can use there, I think it's 50% off. Coupons or not, it's affordable.

Of course, there is always Downtown Disney with Splitsville (Bowling and Pool Tables, great ambiance!) or Disney Quest (If you have the package, you should receive coupons to get free tickets there are a lot of classic/new arcades but there is also a drawing class where you learn how to draw characters, I loved it).

You could also visit Animal Kingdom Lodge, I think they still offer a tour... there is also animals specialist that can answer your questions about the animals you'll find on the site. We loved it.
I second the suggestion of Miniture Golf at Fantasia

The Jiko Wine Tasting is a group event seated at one table. I would guess when we went there were about 25 people. Some couples, some groups and I am sure some singles. We had friendly folks to one side and a couple to the other side who just wanted to talk to each other about their knowledge of wine. You get a small cheese and fruit plate as well. You could bring your husband and drink his wine!

As someone else said, Spice Road Table is in Morocco with lovely views of the water and a tapas style menu. I know a lot think it is overpriced, but we have always been happy with our visits here.

I am so happy I stumbled across this board.. We are taking our very 1st trip to WDW ever as husband and wife in October 2015. My Fiance is Martyne who will be a day over 40 and I'm Alicia, I will be 44.

I have grown children from a previous relationship, he has none... Never having been to WDW before, we thought it would be a great way to spend our Honeymoon. Trip is from October 24th - 31st, 2015. We have our trip reserved for the Pop Century with Park tickets/park hopper for all 8 days plus deluxe dining... you only live once right?

I have started planning for the dining and looking extensively at the Fastpasses+ program. There is a lot of work.. but hoping some of it will be spontaneous and easy going.pixiedust:

My boyfriend and I are going to Disney in December 2014. I was looking at some of the nicer restaurants in the parks and some outside. Does anyone have a suggestion of a romantic dinner we could do? I looked into Victoria and Albert's but that isn't our style. We aren't big food people. We will be celebrating our 5 year anniversary! Thanks!

California Grill is great. Delicious food and a chance to watch Wishes from the restaurant, if you are lucky enough for a window seat, or the observation deck, if you are not. I'm not sure it fits a romantic bill but it does fit as a great place to eat.

Also check out Artist Point at WL. That may be more romantic. At least more quaint.

This is a great thread! Although we have been to DLR many times, my wife and I are going to Disney World for the first time in December for our honeymoon. We have no kids and I was happy to see so many couples enjoy Disney without kids. We are that type of couple that will stand in line for pics and autographs...are we not ashamed of it. Loud and proud ;)

We put our walking shoes on and we attack the crowds. Dodge the random strollers! Weave around the family of six who likes to walk side-by-side!

My wife and I are looking at going through a third party honeymoon agent to line up the hotel and tickets. Do you guys think that this is recommended? or should we do this directly through a Disney resort hotel?

No need to use an agent. If you want some help, It is so easy to call directly WDW and book everything you need to book with a CM...

Or just book it by yourself online with the help of My Disney Experience. It's easy, fun and you won't have to pay anyone to do it.

+ in case of problems, you do not need to communicate with anybody else to get your problems fixed.

It all depends on the kind of romance you want...

Be our guest for dinner is hard to beat. We were seated in the ballroom, with dimmed lights, the food was good... We really enjoyed it.

To be honest, I did not try many "signature" restaurants. Coral Reef was great for the fishtank but the food was just ok. Hollywood Brown Derby had fantastic food but zero ambiance and we waited 40 minutes to get seated (even though we came early for our reservation).

We get dinner to go from the Contempo Cafe at the Contemporary Hotel and head down to the beach area. We eat and watch the electric water parade. We have been doing this for years and have always been the only ones on the beach. Very romantic.

Disney Port Orleans - Riverside is a little more expensive than Port Orleans - French Quarter.
Do any of you recommend one over the other? Any significant differences?

I have not stayed at POR yet (saw a lot of pictures) but stayed at POFQ...

POFQ is simply gorgeous. If you like the Mardi Gras theme it's a plus (it's very festive). The pool is gorgeous.

If you like short walks to everything, it's perfect for you. I heard POR is bigger and more spread out.

The rooms are pretty.

Great thread! I'll join in.

I'm 28, and the Boyfriend is 30. We're both actors in the Musical Theatre industry. I have been in love and obsessed with Disney since I was 5 and saw 'Beauty and the Beast' in theatres, which developed my love of all the Princesses. To this day, BATB is still my favourite movie and story.

We've been together for three years now, and we've been to WDW together once, 2 1/2 years ago on an impromptu trip after my Father passed away. The Happiest Place on Earth was the perfect place to escape to. And while I've always loved WDW, my boyfriend fell in love with it too, as that was his first time there!

Because we're actors - we don't make a great deal of money... but we've been saving since we got back from our first trip, and we're FINALLY returning in Jan. 2015!!! :cheer2: We'll be staying at the All-Star Music again because that's what we can afford. But we both dream that one day we'll stay at GF or AKL... and maybe even have dinner at V&A.

We are always looking for suggestions on romantic things to do that are "budget friendly". One of our favourite things last time was strolling along the Boardwalk after Illuminations. If anyone has any other kind of like minded suggestions, I'd love to hear :goodvibes

SCRATCH that...... he's my fiancé now. Engaged at WDW!!! I am so excited :goodvibes

We might try to get a Save the Date photo in in front of the castle. And maybe buy the bride and groom ears!

OMG!! Congratulations. Go all out and get the bride groom ears and get lots of photos. Photo pass photographers have tons of adorable ideas for couples! Congratulations again, enjoy every minute.
