I was watching the fireworks on TV last night on the local CBS channel which was broadcasting from Boston, wishing I was at WDW watching fireworks at Illuminations, and suddenly they started playing "We Go On"- the final movement of Illuminations. It made me so happy!!

I thought I recognized that music!!! We just came back from WDW last week and I figured I just had fireworks on the brain when I hear the music. Glad to know I'm not nuts!

I was watching CBS too. It was great to hear that song as the finale.<a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008_ZSzfw003YYUS' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/8/8_14_7.gif' border=0></a>

We also loved hearing the music. We're missing WDW but just can't deal with summer weather in Florida. Thanks, Boston!

Oh darn, I should've watched the fireworks instead of an awful Red Sox game.

...that ABC/Disney would allow that.

I remember when ABC did their massive all-day long coverage for the millenium, in 1999/2000, with Peter Jennings on the air for 24 hours straight, they used the IllumiNations score as their theme music. You'd hear it in and out of commercials, and it was used for a video montage at the end of the coverage. I thought: "That's smart. Good synergy. And it's great music, to boot!"

I wonder if CBS had to pay for that?

Much of the music Disney uses in their fireworks displays is already in the public domain and they certainly have no claim on the copyright for the music. I recall getting a good chuckle after reading someone else asking this exact same question in regards to someone else using classical music that Disney uses -- as far as I know, they have no claim on Debussy, Bach or Beethoven either.

As for "We Go On" -- is it Disney music or just music used by Disney?

I presume it's Disney music, composed expressly for the Millennium celebration. Same with the rest of the IllumiNations score.

Somewhere at home on the CD there are liner notes, I believe, about that. Anybody know???

Can I tell you how freaked out me and my husband were sitting on the bridge in Boston watching the fireworks when that song started?!?!? We were in the middle of a NYC/Northeast vacation and planned a night in Boston to be part of the wonderful July 4th celebration. We giggled when we both recognized the song from Illuminations at the same time!!

We are truly Disney freaks!
