What is the candle light procession all about? I have 14 days left before we share in the magic of disney world.

In a nutshell, there is a HUGE choir singing Christmas songs and a celebrity narrator reads the Christmas story. :D It is really beautiful!! The choir sounds like angels!! :p

This is from the disneyworld.com site

Celebrate with a nightly retelling of the Christmas story by a celebrity narrator, delight in a glorious Candlelight Processional and enjoy a choir of hundreds accompanied by a full symphony orchestra at this yearly holiday extravaganza of sight, sound and inspiration.* Meet international gift-giving characters and participate in their unique holiday traditions. Choose The Candlelight Dinner package** and enhance your experience with a dinner of your choosing from selected Epcot® restaurants, and reserved seating for the Candlelight Processional. Just call (407) WDW-DINE†.

If you have never experienced the Candlelight Processional you definitely will not want to miss it. We had reservations 2 years ago for the Candlelight Processional Dinner Package. We choose the Japanese Steak House because the package price was less than paying for it ala carte. (Believe me, it is a bargain) We did not know what to expect from the Processional and having the special seating certainly was a plus. (No wait and close up seating) When you hear the mass choir and the narration of the Christmas Story straight from the Bible it is beautiful. While I have never felt a need to travel over Christmas, if we ever were in Disney this would definitely be a suitable replacement for attending a church service. You just cannot believe that you are hearing this in the midst of all the commercialism of Disney. There is nothing secular to this program.

When we had the opportunity to invite our extended family down for Thanksgiving weekend last year, the CP Dinner package was their Christmas Present. My sister was very skeptical, but everyone left touched by the message. She even purchased the tape and has given me instructions to purchase another one when we go next week. Unfortunately, we are leaving WDW before the CP starts. I know I will miss that part of the Holidays.

It's a wonderful experience and first on my planning list whenever I'm at Epcot at that time of the year - in fact my main reason for going that time of the year. Extra info is that it takes place in the American Theatre. As well as the Disney singers and the narrator and full orchestra, the singers are augmented by what seems to be hundreds of high school students all dressed in 'surplices' and carrying a 'candle'. To start the programme, they walk in singing and that's the 'processional' part. I believe that the surrounding high schools take turns to supply the singers.

It's wonderful - I bought the CD and just to listen to it transports me back there again.

Ann.

I've made my package PS thanks to all the helpful people on the board. I very well may have overlooked this event if it hadn't been for the disboard so I wanted to thank everyone.:wave2:

Pamsfam, what tape is available? Maybe I'll try to get it from gifts of a lifetime BEFORE we go to get us in the mood.

Thanks for everything!!

Glad to be of help. The tape is just a recording of a performance fromt he past. The CP does not change from year to year although 2 years ago after 911 (and it was still in last year's program) they added a song at the end entitled "Let there Be Peace on Earth and let it Begin with Me." I'm not sure whether Gifts ofa Lifetime would have it, but it is sold in stores or kiosks near the America's Theater.

Believe me you will not regret attending this program, when the conductor turns to the audience and leads everyone in the singing of "Silent Night" it is absolutely beautiful. Another fascinating thing to watch at many performances is the Deaf Interpreter. Both times that we attended the interpreter appeared to be moving in harmony with the music. If anyone happens to be deaf, be sure to check for when an interpreter will be performing.

Enjoy!
