In the real world, our anniversary dinner at The Inn at Little Washington last Nov: there was a comma involved.
Fabulous. Service was friendly, helpful and not at all pretentious. We are wine drinkers so had lovely conversations with the sommelier about wines and pairings. The wine is what kicked the price up plus the cheese course with Sauternes. I highly recommend it; we stayed at a B&B in town so no driving worries. How was it? We live close-ish but V&A has ruined us, apparently. We ate at Volt in Frederick for my 30th birthday, and while it was a lovely evening, it was not quite up to the standards of V&A (but was close in price).
Oh be still my beating heart. Scurrying over to google and check out the wine list, LOLFabulous. Service was friendly, helpful and not at all pretentious. Per person? That can't be right.Wowsa. $750!
This thread is eye-opening for me!
Hundreds/thousands of dollars for a single meal???
The most I've EVER spent on food is for our "fancy" steakhouse - about $175 for 2 people. And I swore I would never spend that much on food again.
Everyone is saying that V&A is worth it, but when a single meal is the equivalent of 1/10 of the savings for the next family vacation - there's no way I'm spending that much money on food.

You can do it for a reasonable amount if you watch your wine choices. We're in the DC area - The Inn is on our aspirational list!
