Sky writing over disney

...........over 10 pages......and most of it off the original topic intent/question. I guess this proves that moderators have quit and we can run amuck!!!!!!

OK, I just found out that all those going to WDW and are offended by the skywriting don't have to worry anymore. I have confirmed that his message is intended for UNIVERSAL STUDIOS crowds only.:scared1: :rotfl2: Now, you won't have to be worried that he is crashing your WDW day!

WOW, glad that is resolved now and we can all move along. Keep moving folks, there's nothing to see here...

Amuck, amuck, amuck, amuck!!!

:rotfl2:

Mr Skywriter might not be breaking the law, although he is intentionally getting around it.

There is a No Fly Zone over Disney - we've discussed this. He is aware of such, and legally stays in Kissimmee, making enourmous letters, to get around this.

ETA - Why cant I get outtttta here?!?!? LOL!

Do you have any proof that he does this just to get around the Disney no fly zone? Honsetly his sky writing is no larger than sky writing I have seen when not at WDW. It may be that it's just one of the ways his church preaches to the masses, and that church may be in Kissimmee.

Just like no one is forcing you to look at the sky writing, no one is forcing you to stay in this thread. ;) I just hope that in our little "debate" you leave with the fact that his First Amendment rights are just as important as yours.

I'm sure the one thing we can agree on is there is no place we would rather be than with our DS's than WDW, sky writing or not.

That is the funniest thing I've read in a while.:worship:

I second the :lmao: ! DISboards is suppose to be friendly and fun. You NEVER talk politics or religion with friends or coworkers. That is probably true on here too.

I only have one thing to add to this thread:

Walt would not approve

I dont know if he was religious or not, but it certainly doesnt fit the theme of "forgetting the outside world". If he were alive he probably would have paid off some politicians to take care of it. :)

Zulemara wrote: yes, because at this point in my life, I associate people who would write something like that in the sky with the same ones supporting the anti gay marriage amendment in FL. I don't go around writing gays FTW in the sky so keep your religion out of my life. I don't want it and I don't want to see it referenced.

Boy, talk about mixing apples and oranges!:rotfl:

TC:cool1:

Thats not fair. It is a religious dealio with the Gay Marriage which is going to leave an open wound - and seeing Jesus Loves You *for this poster* (remember, youre all pushing your freedom of speech) is a bitter reminder of what he's dealing with.

We've entered the thread...there's no escape!!!

YES!!!, I know!! Sucked in, like a black hole!

Listen - seriously. Im not going to give giant letter skywriter the benefit of the doubt and say "Oh, he's just doing this in Kissimmee and every stinking Disney tourist just HAPPPPENS to see it" Thats absurd. You and I both know it.

And it IS larger - hence why it looks sloppy and breaks up and blows away more quickly. He knows exactly what he is doing - and they'll be no benefit of the doubt, from me - sorry.

Freedom of speech - fine. It still is completely and utterly ANNOYING to me.

And yes - I'd rather be in Disney - 205 days, and I hope gas prices are too high by then for Mr Skywriter to continue his hijinx. ;)

Too late...we've already covered that and decided that some agree and some disagree.

Next.

:lmao:

Doh, serves me right for not reading the whole juicy thread. Let me change my statement:

Jeremy does not approve. I don't "witness" anyone to the things I believe, and I just find it rather silly when people want to "recruit" others who are so easily influenced that they would jump religions based on seeing a sign.

Insofar as first amendment rights to not extend to those who may cause harm with their exhortations (such as shouting "FIRE!" in a crowded movie theater), I suggest that the sky writer in question is inciting harm to large numbers of confined witnesses, in some cases causing uncontrollable nausea and vomiting, which in and of itself causes health hazards such as slipping and falling, not to mention huge monetary losses with wardrobe replacement, etc....

One thing I find interesting is that people are arguing about "him" without knowing who "he" is. His name is Jerry Stevens:

And here's the plane he does his "business" in:

We now return you to your regularly scheduled bickering, already in progress. ;)

Oh, goody. Now I can put a face to my utter feeling of disdain.

Now, I must preface this with the fact I have no psychiatric training, however - he IMO looks crazy. Has a crazy look in his eye. Very unstable. :rolleyes1

I think that this is the point. Freedom of speech is fine. We all believe in different things too. When I see the Jesus Loves You it doesn't annoy me because I believe Jesus does love me. I have looked up at Disney and seen this in the sky and within a few seconds it started blowing away.

Now if it were a different message that I didn't agree with then it would be annoying to me. I wouldn't say they can't do it because of freedom of speech, but it would still annoy me and I wouldn't like it. I probably would come on here and say "Guess what I saw above Disney". I would say just like CathrynRose that freedom of speech is fine, but what I saw was annoying to me.
