LURKYLOO's Wedding Trippie: Morocco/Attic/Lower UK: Wedding Album + Gown Preservation

Carrie,

I'm so sad for you, :sad2: this is just awful. It's also one of the reasons that I've chosen to give up the MK Photoshoot. I've seen too many that I thought "needed something". Now granted, I've seen some good ones, but it seems as though the MKPS is getting more and more "Hit and Miss" (mostly miss).

I hope that you can get some resolution to this issue. It is sad that you spend that much money to do something special and magical, and that's not even close to what you get.

Sending you lots of  and pixiedust:

Carrie,

What a shame! :sad1: Hopefully they will do the right thing and fix the photos and give you a significant discount or even a refund.

:grouphug:

I just don't get why the MK and Honeymoon photoshoot's are always inconsistent. One person has amazing while another doesn't.It's so annoying!!!!

I am sorry about that Carrie! I hope they can help you.

It is beyond lame that your MK pics are awful! I can't believe that Disney couldn't send a competent photographer for your shoot. I really hope you get this resolved...somehow. Good luck!

The Best First Day of a Honeymoon EVER!

The day after the wedding, this is all we did:

Slept in. Spent the morning splashing around at Stormalong Bay. Ate lunch at Beaches & Cream. Spent the afternoon napping by the pool. Walked over to the BoardWalk for dinner at Flying Fish. Activated our APs to watch IllumiNations at Epcot.

The End.

The Long Version:

Much as I didn’t want to leave WDW property on the first real day of our vacation, we had to go out to Walgreen’s to stock up on stuff for our studio, like milk for our wedding cake and hand soap. On the way out of the Beach Club, we mailed a huge stack of etiquette-flouting wedding announcements/at-home reception invites, and of course two postcard entries to Disney’s [Two] Year of a Million Dreams Sweepstakes.

Can you believe I actually found a picture of the I-Drive Walgreen’s online?!

After we got back to the Beach Club with our hand soap, milk, swim goggles and about 16 other things that weren’t on our list, we changed and headed down to Stormalong Bay.

These are not my pictures – borrowed them from the Internets

We got our guest-access wrist bands, looked for the shadiest table to leave our stuff on, and spent 10 minutes poking ourselves in the eyeballs trying to get our new goggles to fit right...

Our first priority was to try out every area of Stormalong Bay: the whirlpool, the lazy river, the beach, the slide and both hot tubs.

I started with the baby waterslide.

sb9.jpg

That went OK, so I moved up to the big pirate ship water slide. It was OK, but the seams in the pipe bump your back when you go down it.

At lunchtime we had fabulous burgers and fries and milkshakes at Beaches & Cream, which wasn’t as crowded as everyone always warns you it will be. I was really impressed with how good the burgers were – I hadn’t trusted the reviews.

Then it was back to Stormalong Bay to lie in 2 feet of water on the sandy beach (little did I know this was not an experience to be replicated at an actual water park like Typhoon Lagoon!).

Then we fell asleep on some of these chaises by the pool for a couple of hours (they were in the shade then).

When we woke up, we shuffled back to our room and cleaned up for our first married date, a walk to dinner at Flying Fish on the BoardWalk.

We had a while before our reservation, so along the walk from Beach Club to the BoardWalk we stopped at Sea Breeze Point.

Sorry I don’t have any good pix yet – DH is supposed to stitch a bunch of them into a panorama...

We met this guy....
IMG_5050.jpg

...and spent the rest of the trip trying to find out why he was standing around flapping his wings like crazy. (The best sounding explanation came from an Animal Kingdom CM who said birds do that to dry their wings).

We killed time wandering around BoardWalk Inn...

And visiting the Disney Vacation Club model home...

We talked to one of the reps there and learned that one of our wedding guests had stopped by a few hours earlier and taken a tour! We’re crossing our fingers he gets suckered- er, I mean hooked and buys points so we can rent from him!

We walked all the way to the Swolphin and caught a Friendship boat back to the BoardWalk in time for our reservation at...

It was a fun place to eat, and the food was good, but neither of us would order what we got again.

Some sorta cioppino (if I can find the menu we took, I'll update this)

After dinner, on the spur of the moment, we decided to activate our Annual Passes and go see IllumiNations in Epcot properly, for the first time (having your picture taken in front of the show doesn’t really count as seeing it...).

Here’s us not watching IllumiNations properly
1464_3232N.jpg

This was not a very clever thing to do because we’d lose an entire day from our APs just to spend an hour in Epcot, but it sounded like fun (we were waiting as long as possible to activate the APs so we can potentially return to WDW for our anniversary next year and use them).

The show was fantastic! DH got a little choked up; I was fine until I thought of all the fabulous desserts we weren’t eating this time, and then I got choked up too...

Fabulous desserts

After the show we walked back to the Beach Club and had bell services bring up our leftover wedding cake. They had been keeping it in their fridge b/c they didn’t think it would fit in ours, but we resolved to make it fit or get fat trying! I mentioned this next bit in another, later installment of the trippie, but what the heck:

So there we were, sitting on our balcony at the Beach Club eating leftover wedding cake, when all of a sudden we see fireworks in the distance. Nobody told us we'd be able to see the Pirate & Princess fireworks over the Magic Kingdom from our room! Eating cake while watching fireworks – I don’t think it gets any better than that....

Oh – also today we busted out these babies:

Free-Dessert Magnets
IMG_5947.jpg

How ironic that I refused to wear a veil for my wedding but then spent the next 12 days wearing one everywhere we went! But it was worth it – you wouldn’t believe how many “Congratulations!” we got... or how many free desserts. Toward the end of the trip we felt like celebrities who get recognized when they’re trying to go incognito. We had to be "on" all the time to smile and wave at everyone who said Hi to us, which meant no newlywed spats! But you can bet we were bummed when we stopped wearing them and nobody said anything anymore....

DH made them out of regular Mickey ears, the bride headband and two hats we got on eBay for 10 bucks. We wanted to have hats with brims for shade, and I’m not crazy about headbands. You wouldn’t believe how many people A) asked where we got them, and then B) suggested we sell the idea to Disney when we described how we made them! Watch for them on eBay in the near future....

I'm so sorry to hear about your MK photo shoot - I really hope that they can fix things up for you.

Sounds like you had a great first day as a married couple - I love your earhats!

Staying tuned for more . . . :surfweb: popcorn::

Love the hats Carrie! Your DH did a great job!:thumbsup2 I was thinking about doing something like that for DF because that top hat they have for the grooms just look so uncomfortable.

Sorry to hear about the MK shoot. I hope they can straighten in out for you! I'm glad you had a good start to the honeymoon! I love Beaches and Cream...yum! You should sell those hats on E-bay, they are so cute!

I would definitely buy those hats! they look great!

Sound like a dream day! Very relaxing! Great idea for the hats!

Continue to keep you mind off the MK issue, which I hope is resolved soon and keep us updated on you TR!:rotfl:

Awesome first day Carrie!!

I would buy the groom hat. My DH is refusing to wear the top hat with Mickey ears, but he loves baseball caps and would definitely wear that. I, on the other hand do love my headband bridal ears! Despite our cats look at me like I'm an alien when I have them on.

Are you putting them up on ebay?

I love it, your DH did those? Don't sell the idea to Disney, keep it for yourselves and you guys and Caryn could start some "crafty" wedding stuff business. Get an ebay store.

You'd get a ton of business from uncrafty brides or VR's like myself, who want something original.

How did you like the Flying Fish?

Thanks, ladies! I will definitely keep you posted on the outcome - and hopefully I will soon have a link to fixed pictures for you! :)

I'm kinda starting to obsess about this, though, so to get my mind off it, I'll write about...

Sounds like the best first ever to me too!

My DH and your DH have something in common...they both converted Bride and Groom baseball caps to Disney-fied wedding ears! We did that when we got married back in 2002 also. Lots and lots of people stopped us to ask where we got them, etc. We even got attention from CM's about them! Our ears got us freebies too...as well as our own "private" section for viewing Fantasmic! Well, it was two rows...lol...a CM stopped us to chat when we were in MGM and congratulated us on our newlywed status. We talked for about 15 minutes when he asked if we were going to see Fantasmic. Indeed we were and he told us to ask for someone when we got there. He had a gal escort us to the show and helped us find whoever this mysterious CM was. Once we found him, he seated us in one of two rows that were roped off to other guests. He refused to let anyone else sit there as it was our "personal viewing section!" (for the record, as the show was getting closer to starting and the stadium filled, we let folks sit in the row behind us...lol) He made a big production out of the fact that we were one our honeymoon and made sure we were comfortable, etc. It was awesome...

Your wedding looked amazing!! The two of you have such personality and it shines in your pictures! :)

Your hats are awesome! How did he make them? I have seen directions for putting the groom's ears on a hat, since they are just stapled on the top hat, but how did he transfer the bride ears?

OMG! Tell me how to make that groom hat! I have a feeling that the Mickey groom top hat I bought is going to last all of two seconds when we get there. :rotfl:

Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease! Pretty please!! :worship: :lmao:

What gorgeous pictures

:goodvibes Thanks!!

More to come!

Yes, it sounds like they hardly fit any guy, and they certainly don't block the sun...

Sorry to hear about the MK shoot. I hope they can straighten in out for you! I'm glad you had a good start to the honeymoon! I love Beaches and Cream...yum! You should sell those hats on E-bay, they are so cute!

We're totally gonna sell 'em - except now his mom wants us to wear them to the at-home reception in April... d'oh! Maybe after the reception?

Can I put in my Order now for a Grooms Hat???

I would definitely buy those hats! they look great!

:rotfl: I told DH about this and he is seriously trying to figure out if it would be possible to make these for other people! The only problem is that the cost of the materials may make the hats end up costing more than people would want to pay - especially the bride hat.

Sound like a dream day! Very relaxing! Great idea for the hats! Continue to keep you mind off the MK issue, which I hope is resolved soon and keep us updated on you TR!:rotfl:

Yes ma'am! ;)

We just might! Flying Fish was good but not as spectacular as we'd been led to believe. I think maybe I should have had the steak everyone always raves about, but - silly me - I got fish!

My DH and your DH have something in common...they both converted Bride and Groom baseball caps to Disney-fied wedding ears! We did that when we got married back in 2002 also. Great minds think alike! That's a great wedding-ear freebie story!

Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease!

:rotfl: For the groom ears, you actually don't even need the top hat - just buy a cheap-o set of classic black mouse ears. We made slits in the sides of the hat and pushed the metal tabs through, then covered the metal bars with black felt that was affixed using Barge, an industrial-strength adhesive they use to put soles on shoes.

The bride ears were trickier and more spendy, cuz you gotta buy that headband. He removed the ears, trim and veil, and then affixed the ears the same way he did the groom ears. It's harder because of the sequins. Then he used Barge to affix the veil and trim at the top. :thumbsup2

Oh crap... there goes my cottage industry... :rotfl2:
