The Movie Up

I am absolutely gutted that this isn't out in the UK until October 14th!!!!!!

I need another holiday.

I just posted my opinion on the community board, but I'm going to post it here too. No flames, this is just my opinion.

I didn't like the movie. I sobbed through the whole first part, through some of the middle, and some of the end. I had to 'detach' myself from the movie and close my eyes and think about other things. I liked the good dog- he was my favorite, but I'm telling you, I don't know if I can watch it again. I didn't know it was going to be sad until 20 min before we left to go to the theater. From the previews, I was under the impression that it was going to be FUNNY funny... but they showed all of the funny parts. I don't want to deter anyone from seeing this- everyone should! This is just one movie I don't want to have in our library.

All of my grandparents have passed away, and have been gone for a long time. My parents are getting older, like many people's on here are- it just REALLY hit home with me. :sad1:

For those who have not seen it, please do! You'll probably like it better than me.

That is awful that you have to wait that long.

toledo, I am so sorry Up triggered you that way, there were many laugh out loud parts in the movie that I had not seen in previews. I would think you were just so affected you weren't able to enjoy it.

Thank you! Maybe I'll get myself to watch it again when it comes out on DVD and see how I like it the 2nd time.

I am sorry you didn't enjoy it..It made me cry and it made DH cry and we still loved it. He even has said to me before that the "adventure is in the journey itself ,and the pitstops along the way ,not the ultimate destination" So to us it was a fitting movie...I have lost loved ones too , and have aging parents on both sides.Maybe someday you will be able to watch it again.:flower3:

I loved Up, I laughed, I cried, I gasped, I thrilled, I thought it was amazing and awesome and wonderful - in 2D. Call me a geek, but I saw it twice today, once in 2D, once in 3D, and I have decided once and for all that I hate 3D. Has anyone seen Up in 3D where the colors and sharpness and detail were as brilliant as in 2D? I felt like the 3D was murky and dim, and I couldn't pick out all the details, like watching through sunglasses. The theatre I went to is very nice, modern, great stadium seating - and I had the same negative "dull, dim, murky" reaction to the 3D when I saw "Coraline" there, so it wasn't just this movie. Am I nuts?

If I get back to WDW while the characters are still there, I would love to see them - especially Dug! I love him! I want to give him a big hug! I don't want to spoil the movie for anyone, but he had a couple of really sweet moments that just had me going "Awwwwwww..."

Michael Giacchino is my HERO!!! I loved his score for Ratatouille, and I love this one, too - I am going to be so upset next spring if he doesn't get at least an Oscar nomination for this.

The first part of the movie moved me to the point where I was almost sobbing out loud and there were quite a few other poignant moments. You could hear a lot of awkward coughs and sniffles from the audience. The story really hit home with me and I think that made me love it more.

I also loved the silly and slapstick parts of the film. Dug was hilarious! Up truly is a work of art and one of the best films I've seen in recent years.

Yes. One of the newspaper reviewers here in the KC area told his readers
to see the film in 2D, as the 3D was distracting and did nothing to further the story.

...like watching through sunglasses.

You basically ARE.
Those polarized 3D glasses cut the light-level by over 50%.

Thanks for posting this. This is exactly what I thought. The trailers are misleading. I had no idea how sad it would be. And, my 6 year old daughter very much did get the sad parts and was very emotional during the movie. I didn't hate the movie, but I really think that there should have been more warning about the sad and scary parts. Admittedly though, I am someone who can't watch the first part of Bambi; I fastforward through it.

The FIRST part of Bambi?

But you can watch what happens after "man is in the forest?"

Adding my two cents, we just got back and we all loved it. My kids are 9 and 7 and they too thought it was great. Was it sad? Yes, some parts. Was it "violent", somewhat at some parts but not terribly.
Imo this is what makes Pixar movies stand out above the rest. The writing and the storyline is always above par. Go see it and come to your own conclusion. :thumbsup2

Loved it.

Did anyone see the Pizza Planet truck? I looked all over for it, but could not find it.
