Is anyone else as excited as I am about Princess Tiana. They have added her picture to the Disney Princess website, the main Disney website. I hope she will have a new costume at the BBB...wonder if they will have new hairstyles to go with the Princess Tiana look....:banana:I am extremely excited...I cant wait until December when the movie comes out!!!:cloud9:I hope my DD is excited as I am...I just want her autograph:cloud9::lovestruc:cheer2:

YES YES YES

My youngest niece- 4 years old became a princess freak last fall. Her older sister (10) never cared about the princess.

I can't wait to take her to see the movie in December. I plan to get her a bunch of Tiana stuff for Christmas.

YES! We are excited about Princess Tiana. My little one wants her dress. It is very pretty. I can't wait to meet her in the park. pirate:princess:

My daughter is so excited also. The preview plays before UP and it looks so cute. I hope they have her dress at BBB soon, my daughter really wants to chose her for her make over on MNSSHP night.

Yes!:flower:
I'm hoping she will appear at the Princess meals at the Akershus.

The dress is very pretty and the movie looks so cute. Any idea when Princess Tiana will be in the park for meet and greets? We're going in Sept, it'd be great if she was out by then. :)

I am very excited....
I felt like Ariel was for my childhood
My sister had Belle and Jasmine...well and Pocahontas and Mulan
and now this generation has Tiana and I am so excited about that, it's been a while since a new Princess was introduced and its about darn time!

We also noticed she is on the princess website and DD has been playing the frog game on the princess and the frog website since we saw UP on Thursday. SHe keeps asking me if she will be @ Disney when we go (which will probably be Aug 2010) so I hope she is :goodvibes

by the trailer its looks like it would be a good movie. the frog kinda reminds me of that frog that danced and sang on the WB when it was still the WB

I know I feel the same way about Ariel..she was my princess in the 80s

Never heard of her.

Is it a "Disney version" of Princess Diana? Or is it pronouned Tee-ah-nah?

I know thats a silly question....but Diana/Tiana......you see why I thought that.

I guess its because Im a mom of 2 boys....but I never "got" why every main female Disney character had to become a princess. To me, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Rapunzel.......they were princesses. Not Snow White, Ariel, or Pocohantas. Maybe its because Im not overly familiar with their stories? Did all of them marry a prince?

I love it that the little girls go crazy over them though. Its just my adult view I guess.

I think it's great that we will have an African American princess! We'll definitely be on the look-out for Princess Tiana gear for our niece when we are at WDW in August! She would go crazy over it!

We are way excited also! The movie comes out on 12/11 and I'm taking dd and her friends to see it on 12/12. Then we leave for WDW on 12/13!!!!! I am so hoping that Tiana is in the parks by then. And I saw a PP mention that Tiana may appear at Akershus! That would be fabulous as we plan to do ADRs there again this year. YAY!!!! If anyone hears definite confirmation on the date Tiana will begin appearing in the park and whether she will appear in Akershus or CRT, PLEASE post it on the boards!!! We have done CRT the past few years and vowed not to do it this year, but if Tiana will be there, we'll have to add it in again!

I can't wait to see this movie. :goodvibes

We are at Disney from the 27th to Dec 6th, so we most likely will not get to see her while we are there, unless they decide to promote the movie by having her at one of the parks.

As far as considering different characters as princesses, there is a line in the movie, The Little Princess, that ALL girls are princesses.princess:

Yup, Snow White married The Prince (he never actually had a real name, just "The Prince" :rotfl:) and Ariel was King Triton's daughter, so of course, she was already a princess even before she married Prince Eric. And, Pocohantas is an Indian Princess, she is the Chief's daughter.

You're gonna have to have a girl, so you can watch all these movies, about 150 times each! :lmao:

But, like someone else said, aren't all girls princesses? princess:

snow white's prince = ferdinand (at least outside of the movie)... most, if not all, disney characters are named by the animators, even if they don't appear as such in the films.

most of the disney classics are based on public domain fairy tales as it is, so they all have it pretty much mapped out, although disney has a way of disneyfying them. pocahontas for example.

and the little mermaid.. whose literal and literal ending is very different from the disney version

I think you'll see her the first week in December, the UP characters were out before the movie was released.

We'll be in WDW thanksgiving till Dec 2nd... hoping she'll be there then before the movie's release! would be a shame to end up missing her by a week or so.
