January 2010. . . Anyone else going???

I want to cry as I read about the rising temps, we were in 2 sweaters at all times, no t-shirts,shorts,water rides or swimming, I tried to keep positive, but as we woke every day to another freezing day,I started to get discouraged.
so all you snowbirds heading out to the world in the rising temps, enjoy it!

I agree. We had a few REALLY cold nasty days, but luckily we also had about 4 pretty nice days...so it was better than Kansas for sure. Unfortunately the crowds were way larger than we have experienced in past January's. Lot of tour groups from South America. For the most part they were nice and polite this year....there were just SO MANY OF THEM!!! We still had a great time and our grandson did not want to come home! Enjoy your time snowbirds!

Hi all:)

We were in Disney from the 8th-15th..I agree about the weather..brrr..but our first day in the magic kingdom was the 9th and it was so magical because we were practically the only people there..it was cold and raining/sleeting but we didn't care because we walked on everything!!! no wait for dumbo, ariel, peter pan..nothing...We were in heaven. The last 3 days of our trip the temps were very nice in the low 70's high 60's..but my husband said that this is our last January trip because of the tons of Brazillian tour groups..hope no one takes offense, but they were a bit annoying and just plain rude..even the castmembers made comments.

All in all a great trip..even though my 6 year old was up puking the whole night before we went to disney and my 3 year old was puking on day 2 and I was puking on day 7...it was still magical..amazing..I guess I am just a glass is half full kind of gal;)

I hope everyone who still has yet to go a magical trip...and I hope the big ugly crane is down in front of the castle..because that was not very magical. We saw it our last day..ick.

Hey Andrea! :goodvibes

So sorry to hear that you all were sick! Being sick on vacation is NOT fun! Glad you kept up your spirits and enjoyed yourselves regardless! :thumbsup2

I am curious as to how you enjoyed the Treehouses? My neighbours were there last week too! It was their first time to WDW!!! They had one of the Accessible Treehouses as their son uses a wheelchair. I think SSR look so amazing! We are supposed to do a Grand Gathering in a year or 2 and I am looking at the TH's as one of our options! I am very interested to hear your opinion! :)

We were also in the THV from the 7th to the 13th. My son ran in the 5k. He was really glad he wasn't running in the 1/2 marathon!!

We made it out of KC in the blizzard! Only one runway was clear when we took out on the 7th at 6:30 am. But we made all our connections and arrived in WDW just when we expected.

We had 7 staying in the THV and we all loved it. The only problems seemed to be waiting at the bus stops in the freezing morning and night temps! We never timed the busses very well! If it hadn't been so cold the wait wouldn't have been bad. We were at the far north end of the treehouses (7005) but very close to the bus stop.

We must have hit the parks right. Only had one 20 minute wait the whole week. We walked on everything else! Didn't use a single fast pass except for Peter Pan and we didn't even see any tour groups.

Missing WDW already and planning for the next trip, whenever that might be!

The 9th was the ONE day we didn't go to the parks because my son-in-law ran the 1/2 marathon and we were COLD, wet and tired. It figures since it was the day that the parks weren't busy. Sorry you were sick...there must have been a lot of that going around. One little girl was puking on our bus the 2nd day and then later in the week a little girl puked on my back at the Car Stunt Show at HS. I was quite disappointed in how slow the Disney cast members were to clean it up. It happened about 15 minutes before the show started and the most we got was a little sawdust stuff sprinkled on it, after my dh complained about it...it was never cleaned up and even though I asked for a bag to put my jacket in (it caught the puke) they said they would get me one, but never did. I would say that was the biggest disappointment we had...they just didn't seem to care that a bunch of people were exposed to the puke and since the stadium was full we couldn't move anywhere else.

Glad to hear you made it out of KC that day...I worried about you since they cancelled our flight for that morning...luckily they got us on an earlier flight out on the evening of the 6th.

We must have been at totally different parks each day....we had lots of crowds. Usually I try to follow Touring Plans for park days, but it just wasn't working well for this trip...partly because of the temps and partly because we really wanted to see Fantasmic and Spectro Magic.

Leaving in 30 minutes for the airport! BNA to MCO! Staying at Pop Century from the 19th to the 25th! Have fun everyone!

shoot....the forecasted temps are dropping . I hope they're wrong.

It really does change each day! I am definitely waiting until the last minute to finalize my clothes packing !

So between my excitement, packing, getting sub plans ready, and dealing with some politics at work, I have a little throw up taste in my mouth all the time. (mostly work related)

Chicago has freezing rain predicted but only Thurs morning, so I hope by Thurs night they are all caught back up. Can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!

Leaving Friday at 1:30....weather is looking like high 70's for 1st half of week, high 60's for the rest....I'll take it!

Hello everyone...

I just returned home yesterday from an 8day/7night stay at Wilderness Lodge, it was wonderful and I can't wait to go back!!

However, while we were there my mom purchased my daughter a Minnie Mouse ballerina ornament. It was a glass ball with Minnie on top tying her ballerina shoe, and my mom had it personalized with my daughter's name plus little hearts etc. Well we drove all the way from Florida back home to Texas and the ornament was fine. Then today I heard a crash in the kitchen, my 3 year old son had pulled the box off the counter and unwrapped the paper the ornament was in, and the ornament fell out of the paper and shattered on my tile floor.... so I am willing to Paypal someone the cost of the ornament 12.95 plus the 3.00 personalization fee and tax, plus extra for shipping to Texas and your trouble. If I could purchase this ornament online I would, but I cannot find it anywhere, and from what I understand it is only available for purchase inside the park. I am very upset over this, and I don't want my mom to find out because she was so excited about the ornament.

Is anyone willing to help a devastated mom out? Thanks in advance!

We really enjoyed the treehouses. We had 5 adults and 3 kids. Hubby and I had the master, sil/bil neice had the second br and my mil and kids shared the bunk room. There was a lot of room..and it didn't feel cramped at all.

The treehouses are VERY secluded. I would NEVER stay there without a car. Also, the pool was pretty far from our villa so if it was warmer it would have been rough to get there. It didn't really have the "disney" feel because we weren't near a hotel type place. In my personal opinion, I really like the feel of AKV, BWV, BCV, VWL because they are connected to hotels and ther is really good theming and stuff to do. We also do not like Saratoga Springs at all..the reason we chose the treehouses was because it holds a lot of people but it costs less points than a grand villa. I would stay there again in a second...but honestly would have preferred a 2br plus studio at AKV...but we didnt' have enough points. Hope this helps.:)
