09/12/10 - DVCers Take Over the Wonder (S.S. Member Cruise 2010) - Thread #2

Do more or less people dress up for pirate night on the DVC member cruise? I would think more because most DVC members LOVE anything Disney.

MORE DRESS UP ON MEMBER CRUISE. I ALWAYS DRESS UP EVEN ON REGULAR DISNEY CRUISE. I DONT THINK ITS ONLY BECAUSE WE ARE MORE DISNEY FANATICAL:rotfl2: I ALSO THINK ITS BECAUSE WE KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT MORE THAN MOST ON REGULAR DCL. BUT STILL ON MEMBER CRUISE MORE DONT DRESS UP THAN DO.

IM driving Laura crazy now that i have found DISRADIO:cool1: DISNEY MUSIC 24/7:cool1: Can anyone tell me how to get the itunes sound on computor to our Ipod BOSE STATION so i can listen outside on deck?

Where is the world has Terrie been????????

Hi! :wave2: I am here. It's been a crazy weekend and now week and I am still scrambling to get caught up and ready to go! Oh I am SO ready to go!!!!

We had a near pirate: costume fiasco when I received the wrong skirt and then couldn't get the bodice to secure properly without danger of exploding at any given moment :scared1: New skirt was made and shipped out priority mail and I got stronger ties for the bodice. Catastrophe averted...whew!

I still need to pack. I have our pirate: costumes packed :yay: but that's it. You see where my priorities are :lmao: Tonight I will try to get the FE gifts packed and maybe even some clothes :rolleyes1

Terrie :)

Hello everyone. Busy day at work getting things finished up so I can get out of there on Thursday and not leave too much for my employees to have to mop up.

Anyway I logged onto the site last evening and it does not show Palo Brunch in Shawn and I's itiniary. I know I have reservations with a group of you but I wanted to check and see if this is normal.

Thanks,

Milford

For those with Palo reservations.

If it turns out he leaves from Baltimore to Orlando, maybe you'll be on the same flight. :goodvibes

He'll be the run mumbling "my wife is going to kill me; I hope she packed my clothes" :lmao: and "why does drama always happen before our vacation" :rotfl2: and there might be a tear in his eye. :sad1:

I'll be on the lookout for a mumbling man with a tear in his eye...we'll get him to Orlando.:):thumbsup2

we've been using JetBlue lately. The price has been good because we book so early but we also like the extra leg room seats not to mention the assigned seating. It's not a big deal but I like the window and DH likes the isle. With Southwest I always get the middle seat. :confused3

That's too funny....I like the middle seat...I would have traded the window for the middle seat.

Only a few more days till we sail!!!! Cannot wait!!!! :yay: This is my husband & I's first DVC Cruise. We just joined the DVC a year ago. We are really excited. I know I haven't posted anything since the first time I posted back in June or July. I am so sorry for not being more active on here than planned. Been really busy with school work (I am working on getting my Bachelor's degree..a senior..Only a year left before I graduate. Just returned to college after a 15 year break a year ago to finish getting my degree. My husband is working on 2 master's degrees right now.) We are both trying to get our assignments done for next week so that way we do not have to bring our school work with us on the cruise.

I have a few dumb questions...We do not have anything for the Pirate Party. Going to try to get something from one of the party supply stores before we leave. Any other suggestions?

Also, do we need to bring beach towels from home for when we go to the beach at Castaway Cay? Or does Disney provide towels for everyone?

Any help concerning this would be greatly appreciated. My husband & I are definitely planning on attending the Dis Board get together on the day of embarkation @ 3pm on the Promonade right?

Looking forward to getting to meet all of you!!! :cheer2: See ya soon.

Tara & Allan

I just want to know what time all of you are waking up to get these GREAT PHOTOS????

5 AM??????????

Thanks to all for posting them - they're a great distraction to a lousy day!!!!

Tim

My pictures were most definitely NOT taken at 5 AM. Ok, maybe 5 AM on the West Coast! LOL I hope your day has gotten better!

We're thinking of going to Beaches 'n Cream for dinner on Sat and staying to watch the fireworks off the bridge. I have an annual pass but my friend Gail isn't buying one until we get off the cruise. Every day in Sept. counts since we have been here the last 3 Septembers. Actually, my birthday is Sept. 17th and for the last three years my kids have sent me flowers for my b-day to whatever resort I was staying at. Talk about having trouble packing for the return trip. Last year's was a beautiful slice on cake all made out of flowers. No that was the year before. Last year was a Donald cup/bowl with flowers in it. Beautiful and actually was easier to pack. I use it for ice cream. The first year it was a Mickey holding a cake plate, boy was that tough.

How cool is that to get flowers delivered to your room while on vacation?!

Sorry to hear about the near catastrophe and glad it's going to be resolved!!!

The only dumb questions are the ones that are never asked!
If you don't find any pirate attire at home, don't worry they always have pirate attire for sale on the ship. (Of course it will cost you a little more than at home, but that's expected with anything Disney!)

I would suggest bringing your own beach towels. For two reasons: 1. They make great cushion around fragile stuff in your luggage. 2. The towels DCL provides on CC and on the ship aren't exactly "beach towel" size.

Can't wait to meet ya at the DIS meet!

I see some discussion about leaving from Baltimore. We are flying from Baltimore with southwest. We leave at 4:00. Anyone on that flight. Would have rather left earlier but need to teach that day and get my teams ready for their games. Arrive at 6:15 hope to be at resort by 7:30 dinner in epcot at 8:15, then Extra magic hours wooohooo.

Well, been working on packing and it looks like we are going to have to check two bags after all. :rolleyes1 Nuts. We were trying to get by with 4 carryons (for 4 of us) and only one checked bag. But, alas, I am packing too much. It is just really annoying that the airlines charge for checked bags now. Oh, well, nothing we can do about it.

I feel your pain about luggage. I don't know what I was thinking, I told DH we just needed 1 big suitcase and then each a carry on. Well, today I sit here and we have 2 large suitcases and 2 carryons. Crud I really am trying to pack light but you can only cut back so much:thumbsup2
Can't wait to meet everyone. We are so excited:goodvibes

It's me again.LOL

I really need to be working on my homework, but instead I am writing down my packing list..LOL I am so glad I looked at the suggestions for things to bring for the cruise, especially when it comes to the alarm clock, shoe organizer, etc. Thank you for putting that list on here for us!!!!!

We live in Stafford, VA which is halfway between Richmond & DC. Southwest used to offer a direct flight from Dulles to Orlando, but are no longer doing it. That's the flight we took last year in December when we visited DW. I remember reading in the paper or on their website that they will be offering a direct flight from Reagan National to Orlando, but it doesn't start till next month. We prefer to fly Southwest because of the 2 free checked bags that you get when you fly with them.

Anyway, we are flying Jet Blue out of Richmond on Saturday, September 11 on their daily direct flight that lives around 5pm. Anyone from this board going to be on that flight? We are going to catch Magical Express over to Bay Lake Towers for our one night stay there. Was able to upgrade to a 1 bedroom room there the other day instead of a studio. Our flight gets in around 7pm. I think we are going to do quick service dining for that night.

Ok, I have another question. We are using Disney transportation from the DW Resort to the Cruise ship. Does anyone know about what time they will be picking us up from the resort Sunday morning? Trying to figure out our breakfast plans for that morning. Also, since we will be flying, I know we cannot take bottled water through security, but we can bring bottled water through the security at the terminal right? If that is the case, than would it be cheaper for us to buy it at the DW Resort & bring it with us or just wait & buy it on the cruise ship? Also, does anyone know if distilled water is available for purchase on the cruise? I have to bring my bi-papp machine, which the one I have to use, has a humidifier that uses distilled water.

Thanks again for all of your help with all of my questions. I will probably have a lot more. We have taken a cruise before (not Disney), but it has been 13 years since our last cruise. Things have definitely changed, especially since 9/11

Can't wait to meet all of you!!!!

See ya all in a few days!!!

I called a few days ago and they explained to me that I would receive a message the day before stating when the DCL bus would pick us up. Since you are showing up to the resort in the evening you may want to ask at check-in.

I can't answer the question about the water because it's my first cruise. :cloud9:

Debbie - if we get those little suitcases I will try to find you because I would rather give them to you than leave them behind.

And I'm sorry if I have offended anyone by saying we don't take stuff with us. We have always taken everything we have received except those little suitcases. We are very appreciative of everything we have received and use many of the items we have received in the past. The throws we received, the duffel bags, the license plate covers, water bottles. . . . So again, I'm sorry and don't mean to sound ungrateful. :sad1:

Chris,

I am not offended either. I understand where you are coming from. As a newbie, I would love to get the suitcase as I don't have one. We are going to have a blast and I can't wait to meet you and laugh.

I am happy to say the bags are packed and I finished getting my FE gifts ready. For the adults I apologize as I let the kid in me come out when selecting items for the gifts. I hope everyone likes them. 3 cheers for being packed and ready to hit the road on Sunday. :cheer2:

Where in IL are you? Will you be flying from Ohare or Midway? We leave on Saturday morning from Midway on Southwest at 9:30 am.

I don't think there are any worries about letting the kid in you come out. I think every adult on here is still a kid. Otherwise we wouldn't all share the same love of all things Disney! :thumbsup2
