OLD THREAD: 2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ, Part 2- May, June and July DON'T POST HERE!

So far, this is what I have been able to find out:

It sounds like the closing will happen towards the end of the month, not next week. Not sure of the exact date, but I think the last week in August, when guest attendance starts to slow down.

The inital plan is to offer packaged sandwiches to go near or in the arcade, hotdogs, drinks and other treats near Beaches and Cream and a Pool Bar with drinks sold at Poolside Gifts. I think there will be wait service at the pool.

Hope this info helps and I will post additional info as I get it.

thank you for the update -- and great big thanks to the original poster who sparked the research!!

I have my fingers crossed, but it sounds like after this info that our trip 8/15 to 8/22 will be 'safe' from the HH rehab ...

I am pretty sure that the BC is full, or almost full for the week we are there, so HH being down would be a hardship to say the least

While I have never had the 'unofficial thread cocktail, the Sunken Treasure' - I will always dream of the no-longer on-the-menu 'Blue Nile' at the AKL pool bar - now, that was a great week ......

Here's an off-the-wall question ...

my 17 dd has told me over and over tonight that she wants to be 'festive' this Disney vacation - I pointed out that her senior trip in March is also to WDW and won't we be ruining it for her (that's another story, hhmmphh, the amount of money is ridic and they stay in All Stars)

I immediately thought of Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique ...

much to my disappointment, the princess hairdo haven seems to be limited to those 12 and under!!!!!! (I actually asked her if she would be willing to have a princess hairdo before I did the research (with her older sister, who she would have to talk into it) for more than a day or more, and her eyes lit up) WDW is missing out on a HUGE money-stream (we can't be the only HS that sends 100 seniors girls on spring break)..., but I guess that's another discussion ...

Can anyone suggest a similar experience??!!!

WDW needs to understand that the need to be a princess does not stop at the age of 12!! If one desires to have an updo and a tiara - why shouldn't they be able to indulge the desire in WDW?

Good gosh, who wants to watch youtube how-to videos with me and set up shop next to Erica's pick-up window for recycled-mugs of grey goose slushies outside of SAB??

Race you to the BC ...

we're flying in off the beaten-path ... Tampa (it's so much easier!!, ssshhhhh!!, and about the same time to WDW if you rent a car), a little before 9:30 am and take the last flight out of the same on the 22nd!!

We had very tight vacation dates --- the reason we start on the 15th is because that was the start date of the 'new' discount code - we basically had less than a 2 week window to travel between the end of college research projects, Kenny Chesney concert tickets, the start of 2-a-days for HS sports, back-to-school work schedules for retail clothing employees, and college jr year move-in date!!

So, I'm sure we'll be running across each other in the CL ...

if the swedish fish container is empty - it's my dh and girls -- while I have left the 5th floor with an armful of diet cokes to be consumed before I can get my hands on the grey goose slushies I have learned about here ...
Too funny! We fly into MCO at 9:30am and will ME it to BC. And we have a late flight out on the 22nd at 7:30pm.
We picked Wed to Wed this time based on flight prices, but we typically go end of August because DH is a teacher.
I'm a swedish fish fan too. Tell them to save some for me! LOL. This is our first CL stay so I'm going in clueless, but we will use it a lot I'm sure. Can't wait! 13 more days.... Yay!

Here is a picture of Lily meeting the cranes who visit Teena's yard and of her first visit to Ohana.

Haven't heard her reviews of the wings or the noodles yet!!!

Lily Goes Live! A Princess' First Visit to Her Kingdom

.

Lily loves the cranes. The cranes, however, are scared silly of Lily. They keep looking at me with the expression "what is that?"

Lily loved Ohana's and in particular the noodles. She probably gained 5 pounds from all she ate! Jeanne said this was the best she has ever been in a restaurant.

She is now trying to squeeze into her bathing suit (noodles added on the pounds) for her first visit to Typhoon Lagoon! The car trunk is full. Who knew it would take four adults to carry everything her royal highness needs for a day of fun in the sun and water.

Thanks for the additional info. I'm going to add your comments to the posts in the Live thread

Have a great time at TL today!

24 hours until I touch down in Orlando and get into the ME bus:cool1::cool1::cool1:

love last minute trips...since the excitement doesn't have time to build it just seems to explode :rotfl2: plus being so busy getting ready for the trip I don't have time to overthink and overplan ;)

Kerry - can't wait to hear all about DL! Safe travels.

As for Family of the Day - we were once the "Family of the Week" at YC. We got balloons and were upgraded to CL!

To all the Y&B fans........

If you are headed down to the "World" anytime in the next few weeks and renting a car, you might want to check to see if your rate has gone down.

We're headed down on 8/17 to spend a couple of nights at the YC then going on the Disney Dream and returning to the YC on 8/24 for three nights. Just out of curiosity, I checked the rates at Budget for our trip and the rate for the entire 9 day rental has dropped almost $200 since I made the original reservation in June. That's more than enough to cover a few GG slushies!

I also checked the air fare on our flight on 8/17 (Jetblue) and that fare went down almost $90 per person, which I now have as credits with Jetblue. I'm on a roll today......

Now, if only the rate at the YC would go down too!

Edited to add: My wish came true!! I was able to apply the AP discount to our 8/17 reservation and saved another $40. Our 8/24 reservation is a Bounceback so the AP discount would not have saved anything. Oh well..... $40 covers another couple of GG slushies!

Our Alamo res went down too :cheer2: We will be in Ft. Lauderdale for a week before driving up to WDW. So returning car after AKL check in.

We booked on a BB too, and it's cheaper then AP for AKL, because AP rate was only for weeknights, the weekend rate was rack rate, while BB discounted all nights  AP discount a disappointment for us and was happy we had the BB.

I would like to be able to post some pictures to the thread when we are at Yacht Club. What's the best thingy(!) to use?

I use Photobucket. The app is really easy to use if you are taking pics with your phone. Or if you are using a digital camera you can upload them to the photobucket website. :)

We're back from Typhoon Lagoon. She loved it so much she refused to stop and nap so walking out she passed out cold while Brian was carrying her out. Jeanne just got her out of the shower and de-sanded her and she's screaming bloody murder ... so tired she can't walk straight!!

She met quite a number of boys ... Pop-Pop had his hands full with all the flirting going around. One 18 month old boy walked up to her and gave her a kiss. The princess just smiled.

I've been wondering that too. I've never posted any pictures but am thinking I would like to on our trip. :confused3

I have not posted pictures from my phone, only my computer, but like Erika, I use Photobucket too.

Here are the instructions I have in the FAQ post on Page 1 for posting photos. I have posted the link below.

If you want to try practicing posting pictures before you go, you can do it here or there is a place on the DIS (the tech board or a testing board) to do that.

How do I...

Post a Photo on the DIS?
