*~*NEW October 2013 Thread*~* Our Month Has Arrived!

I say "last minute" even though it's still 10 weeks away, but for me, that IS last minute! I'm always here, planning our trips at least 6 months in advance.

I am SO EXCITED that we might be going to WDW at the end of October.
I should know for sure in a couple of days.

Our kids in Arkansas are out the first Thursday and Friday of November for a teacher's convention - just like New Jersey - you know, "Jersey Week" !!???

The first family trip we took, ours was actually a week BEFORE Jersey Week and it was HEAVENLY! Very low crowds, no lines. We loved it!

The next 2 trips, taken every other year, WERE during Jersey Week. Still lower crowds than Christmas, Spring Break, summer, etc... but a lot more than that first, awesome trip.

We just went last November (2012) and my youngest DD (13) and I got to go again this May for her Dance Team doing the Disney Performing Arts workshop. Twice in one year! Awesome. But now, we MIGHT get to go THREE TIMES IN ONCE CALENDAR YEAR!!!

As I was entering the days my kids would be out of school into my calendar, my heart skipped a beat. This year, our schools will be out October 31 and November 1 for the teacher convention. THAT IS NOT THE SAME WEEK AS JERSEY WEEK!!!!

We HAVE to go!

This is DD's (17) Senior year of high school. I didn't imagine we'd get to go again until maybe Jan of her 1st year in college.

And guess what? FREE DINING! Oh, I bet you already knew that! LOL :rotfl2:
And Allegiant Air has very inexpensive flights, non-stop from our town, that have perfect dates for us.
As my mom said - it looks like we were MEANT to go! :yay:

Trying to finalize WHERE (would LOVE a Deluxe but for a special, last minute, unexpected trip I think we will go for a Moderate).

It all rides on if hubby can get off that weekend (he works weekends) and if DD feels she can miss 3 straight days of AP Calculus! I have just enough vacation left at my job!

Wish me luck!

And yes, I have been around enough to know that it will be difficult finding resies where we want to eat starting this late, but I ACCEPT THAT CHALLENGE!!!

Wohoo! Wishing you lots of luck and pixie dust that it works out. I love last minute trips, that's how most of mine end up.

I have been in your shoes and am in them now! I can't find a Sci Fi reservation to save my life! Keep trying though, that's how I have gotten Ohana in the past. Since it is a hard restaurant to get, I sometimes think people hoard several reservations for it and cancel as it gets closer.

Yeah I hate it when people do that!!!

Good luck!! My DS16 would absolutely freak out missing 3days of school. He has to miss one day in Oct. another one in Feb. (I haven't told him yet lol). I'm sure your DD will be fine.

Last minute trips are so exciting!

We'll be at ASMo on 10/23, moving to CSR from the 24th to the 29th with Free Dining and than moving back to ASMo until we head home on the 30th!

My first PTR attempt is here.

Still wrapping up our plans and can't wait for the trip!!!!!

Crazy4WDW ... Green is the color of the day here in Las Vegas. Although we're right behind you green, green green... Have a great trip and make some memories!

I will update the list this weekend. I went back to work (teacher) this week so I have been really busy getting things ready for next week when the kids return.

:) Hello! I would like to join the list. We have a trip planned for Oct 30 - Nov 6 for myself (41), my DH (38), my Mom (62) and my aunt (64). This will be the very first (hopefully of many) trip for my mom and my DH. 2nd trip for me and like the 100th for my aunt. lol
We will be staying at the CBR with the free dining plan (woohoo!) and will attend the MNSSHP on Friday Nov.1st.
We have many dining reservations but the 2 that come to mind are at:
Crystal Palace on November 3 at 10 and the Tusker House on Thursday Oct 31 at 9:20 am.

Nice to be a part of the group!

We're coming in Oct. also. I'll be at my cousins 10/20-23 and it will be ladies choice as to which park on any given day! When spouse arrives, we'll be at CBR 10/23-28. MNSSHP on 10/27; Party for the Senses 10/26; Raglan Road on 10/24 @ 9 pm; Then home until our family reunion (Ft. Wilderness Cabins) in April : )

Just made our payment. Will be arriving Oct 12-22nd @ Allstar Movies... It always takes a day or so to take the sting out of paying all that money, I'll be good by days end haha.

I booked our trip August 1st when FD came out. I got an email confirmation but in previous years, in addition to the email, I would get a paper copy of my reservation in the mail. Are they only sending them via email now or is my hard copy lost in the mail? :confused3

As far as I know, you have to request the hard copy. I haven't gotten a hard copy in years. Maybe some CMs automatically send them, but I've never had that happen.

Just added a night to my Pop reservation - going Oct 22nd-31st :cool1:

I'm so excited!!! Booked my flights today, called up and added my extra night, added my Magical Express info, bought my MNSSHP tickets and started customizing my MagicBand. Today feels super magical :wizard:

I usually book online. A couple of times I have called to book. This is the first year I haven't received a hard copy. Hopefully they didn't send one. It's really not necessary. My main concern is something like that being stuck in someone else's mailbox by mistake. Would hate for a stranger to know what dates we will be out of town.

I was able to select my Fastpass + last night!!

For the most part the system is pretty good. My one gripe with it is that even though it had the dates and times of my dining reservations it always spat out options with one of the return times hitting at the same time (as in within minutes of my ADRs) It did this each day and many times I almost picked that option because the other two fastpasses would be perfect timing. A hint though... I figured out that if none of the 4 options are looking good to you hit the back button and then come back to the options page. It refreshes the options and gives you new ones.

Still no magic bands though. Anybody else able to do their fastpasses?
