Funny thing! That Sigma 30 f1.4 lens I bought on PF a few months ago, well the Original owner tracked it down and asked me if I wanted to sell it! Now I'm thinking I'll dump it in favour of the new 35 f1.4 art lens... or perhaps the 18-30..... hmmmmmm

I sold the 30.... now I have money to burn! Sigma 35mm f1.4 Art lens? Sigma 18-35 f1.8? Studio lights? Or stick with strobes and get a few more triggers? decisions..... Any suggestions if you had an extra $1000 to put into gear? I'm not into the Limiteds, size doesn't bother me, speed and versatility intrigue me more....

A nothing special shot, however this is our team that put on the Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots "Santa in Gatorade Victory Lane" event at the Chicagoland Speedway today. Everyone had a good time. The weather was a little iffy, but it did allow us more time to interact with those that braved the weather. The main thing, we got a lot of toys for the kids!

I've been in a bit of a slump lately, hoping to snap out of it today! I just cant seem to be bothered to take any photos outside, its been beautiful this winter, lots of snow, even an ice storm, and I still can't quite get inspired... anyway heres a about all I've shot since Halloween :(

This picture is absolutely fantastic!! Interesting subject. I would have never thought to compose that but it turned out amazing. Love the lighting and bokeh. The sharp details make this photo. I know it sounds weird to say but her toes add so much to it.

With the bad weather hitting Chicago, I decided to look back at some of the photos I had never processed from our last Disney vacation. The reason I kinda like these, was I never had any intent of using them. Using my weather resistant Pentax K5 and 18-55 WR lens, I wanted to try to get the water coming over the bow of the boat at the water drop. Normally, I would slap on the Sigma 30 for lowlight rides. I never expected to recover much of anything by using a kit lens on a dark ride.

Mr. Terry, that snowmobile shot is awesome! I don't know how y'all function with all that snow. We fussed last week when it was in the 30's here in Louisiana.

Thanks Harry! GLX Snocross racing is my latest gig. The series was kind enough to issue me a Media Hard Card pass for the season. This gives me something to shoot during the winter and is really a lot of fun. I'm still learning all the nuances of snowmobile racing. The weather wasn't too bad and had actually warmed to above freezing. The previous week with minus 50 degree wind chills was brutal!! You just have to dress right and everything is good.

I ended up giving up on the DSLR. I've switched back to mirrorless. For my family and vacation photos it's all I need. I have been beaten up by health issues this past year and just don't feel like carrying a heavier camera any more. I'm still recovering from major back surgery and over the Christmas holidays I had an ICD device implanted in my chest. I have lots of PVC's and went through an EP study of the heart. The doctor was able to kick my heart in VTAC and I had to be defibrilated. I guess I can look at it like a big life insurance.

Anyway, that's why I haven't been around much. I've been busy with doctors. I get a few more weeks to recover and then we're heading to Disney. I need a vacation!

I'm sorry for all the rambling.
