Will Dinosaur Make Me Sick?

I've never been on Dinosaur in AK and was wondering if it would make me nauseous. I can't do spinning rides (Tea Cups, etc) or Soarin, but I've never been on Dinosaur. Is it more like Nemo or The Little Mermaid where you just get carted along and see things?

Also, is it scary for 5 year olds? I know it depends on the child, but overall...

Thanks for any help!

I remember it as being rough and scary. Once was enough for me. I'm sure people take some 5-year-olds but I would not have taken my kids on it at that age.

It doesn't spin but it does shake you around a bit. I would compare it more to Test Track.

I can't imagine it would make you sick, however it does bump around. Personally I do think it can be scary for kids. Scares me! ;) my five year old is not scared by it in the least bit though so I wouldn't rule it out.

I'm a 24 year old man and it still scares me. It's very intense. But my all time favorite ride.

I cannot do spinning rides either, but I love Dinosaur. I just rode it tonight. :)
My daughter was four the first time she rode it. I'm always ducking out of the way of the dinosaurs and screaming, but the kids around me always seem fine. :hyper:

I would say it is the roughest ride at Disney World. And probably the darkest at times. Scare factor for a 5 year old would normally be pretty high also.

I get motion sick on coasters and spinners and a tiny bit on Soarin' "I don't bother with Star Tours anymore though it is fun. The "mild" side of Mission Space was bad for me as well. I like Dinosaur but do feel a bit queezy afterward. The sick feeling goes away fairly fast. I ride it once every trip...maybe twice if we visit a second day at the Animal Kingdom.

it is a rough ride - you're basically in a jeep type vehicle that is 'off roading' it over boulders and things to get away from dinosaurs.

the ride is dark and fairly scary. Scared my 7 year old DD so much the first time she rode it she refused to ride it again until she was 14 (she is still not a fan).

Not so much. Don't recall seeing many folks getting off looking like they were going to puke. Scary, certainly can be. I've seen many a young child exit the ride crying. It isn't particularly "spooky" but is VERY loud and has a few things that make you jump. Noise/darkness is the biggest issue and if I were going to take a 5 year old on I'd do so after they've had a chance to experience most everything else at the parks so they don't immediately distrust the rides.

Dinosaur is very rough and very, very loud. It is one of few rides at WDW that I felt I needed a restraint/belt. Riders get thrown back and forth a lot.

I agree with a PP that it's the roughest ride at the World. Also, it could end a five year old's day. Not kidding.

Oh WOW! Thanks for the answers. Forget about my issue, my kids would probably hate it! Maybe when they are older! Any other good FP to use at AK? We have safari and Lion King. My kids are 5. Thanks again!

I rode it at age 27 and it scared me! I get motion sick, and it definitely didn't make me sick, but I thought it was really scary!

Maybe Everest? It is the most "intense" roller coaster at Disney, other than perhaps Rock n Roller coaster, but is a great ride. If concerned about whether your kids would be scared, then I'd say Primeval Whirl would be the best bet. Another option is Kali River Rapids, but you will almost certainly get wet on Kali, and perhaps soaked (though a 5 year old would probably love the ride).

My 11 year kid girl loves dinosaur. My 8 year old was scared. I wouldn't ever bring a 5 year old on that ride. Dinosaurs jump out at you. Expedition Everest is also another one to stay away from. If you want your kids to ride a coaster, then I suggest 7 Dwarfs (mini roller coaster with that slows down to show 7 dwarfs in their mine)....if they do good on that, then maybe big thunder mountain railroad (that is the tamest real coaster).

My kids are too short for Everest and Primeval Whirl. Kali will be closed :(

We really struggled to use fp+ at AK. My daughter is 3. We arrived at rope drop and did the safari immediately. Then we did it again with our FP. We used FP for the Festival of the Lion King and the Finding Nemo show. We didn't get great seats for lion king, even with FP, but we got great seats for Nemo. You really don't need FP for either show. It was too cold for Kali.

We've decided that we won't go back to AK until she is tall enough for Everest.

I get motion sick. I stay away from Soarin and Tea Cups, rides like that. I thought I could handle Dinosaur a couple of weeks ago since I had ridden it before (12 years ago). I had to keep my eyes closed the whole time. You should see my ride photo. Everyone but me is looking at the dinosaur that had popped out at us. I'm looking facing straight ahead.

Like the previous posters have said, Dinosaur is a rough, scary ride. And it makes me a bit queasy.
