Current photo of Castle while being refurbished

We'll be there next week for our son's first visit. We are still going to take a photo in front of it...haha.

Don't mind me as I lie here kicking and screaming!!! And the tarp isn't even printed, like the ones they used on Main Street! :sad2:

Maybe that part will change? I seem to remember some tarps in WDW going up blank at first then being painted, or replaced with the painted version a bit later.

I hope you're right mom2rtk. They have until Friday to fix it for me!! LOL!

Question: When will the tarp come down? Most of the refurb schedules I've seen list the castle walkthrough as reopening March 2, but does that mean the tarp will come down at that time, as well? Sooner? Later? For those of you more familiar with the situation and the lay of the land, would the tarp have to be down before the castle walkthrough could open? :confused3

I was really hesitant to open this post this morning, knew the closer we got to leaving the more chances the castle would be covered...we leave home in 3 days and get to Disney in 4 days...really hoped we would get to see the castle before it was covered, sadly not going to be the case :sad1:

We're arriving tomorrow. It's okay, tho! How much time does one spend staring at the castle??? We'll just move on to other awesomeness! Noooooo problem. And really, I'd rather be there with the castle under a tarp than not at all. I reckon with enough drinky-drinks before heading in we'd probably not even notice it! ;)

Whoa. That tarp is ug. I'll wonder aloud: would I rather have the Castle tarped off when I get there, or would I rather see the castle with scaffolds and workers?

I remember when Splash Mt went down at WDW while we were there. No tarps. Just workers dressed line Miners were painting and repairing things. I sorta liked it. Wonder if the castle would look ok if it had workers dressed with uniforms that looked like the grand duke or royalty or something. Just a thought.

Disappointing but not the end of the world.... I too wish they had painted it or used a nicer color.

Being my first trip, I would have liked just 5 minutes to stare at it, then perhaps 10 minutes at night time, when it is all lit up to again stare at it...alas not to be

I feel your pain minneylovesmickey. I'll be there with a first timer, so I feel bad that he won't get to see our beautiful castle. :sad1: This just means you'll have to come back!:thumbsup2

Is the castle supposed to be unveiled again at the beginning of March all going well? we are going 19-26 April so fingers crossed we will see the castle, coming all the way from New Zealand and the kids (and big kids) are really looking forward to it :)

Understandable. We're bringing my older brother for his first trip so I'm a little sad for him. But, trying really hard to stay positive and make the most of it. Still, the printed scrims would've been much appreciated......

 would love to be able to go back, I have saved for yrs, so may not be able too.

From what I have read, the walk through will be open from 3rd March, with the castle being unveiled in May, surely they won't be able to keep it covered with a tarp till May, but still have ppl do the walk through...Can they??? Someone who has been through the castle may be able to tell you more.

Unless it is the suspected diamond overlay that will be unveiled/switched on or how ever it works, in May.

Any chance they will put a painted one over the brown hessian bag one??

With It's a Small World, there was a plain white tarp up originally and then it was changed to printed. So perhaps that will happen with the castle as well.
