Worst advice you got

That you have to do rope drop or you won't get to do everything you want without long lines. Wrong. We ride everything we want, multiple times, including headliners, in our trips. And we go when we wake up, no alarm, just let everyone sleep and wake up naturally. Everyone is well rested, we don't have meltdowns and we leave parks when little ones have had enough. After trying rope drop we decided it's just not for us!

"Take DME to/from the airport! It's so convenient!" Nope. There is nothing convenient about sitting on a bus for an hour waiting for it to load, not getting your luggage until 7 hours after check-in, or getting picked up 3 hours before your flight home so that you can sit on the bus some more to wait for it to load at various resorts. After renting a car on our last trip and seeing how convenient THAT is, I feel like a fool for buying into the DME myth for so long.
Totally agree with this. Except, we don't rent a car. We hire a stretch limo, to avoid having to bring car seats.

We'll probably worst advice was my own. Thinking I wouldn't need a jacket in June because it's going to be hot the whole time. WRONG!

Restaurants and shops get so cold sometimes. There were times I was down right shivering! Even the evenings outdoors sometimes called for a light cover up. I don't care how hot it is I always have a jacket tied around my waist.

We had someone tell us before our first trip with DDP to use all of our snack credits for a bottle of water each day.
The advice to only visit parks with EMH happening that day didn't work for our family. Heavy crowds all day and we were too wiped out to even stay for evening EMH!
I agree with the other posters saying that it all depends on your situation and family! It's interesting to read some people's best or worst advice, but for others it's the exact opposite.

Now, someone did tell us that the best rides in Epcot were Space Mountain and Splash..

For our honeymoon/disneymoon our TA told us.. "Don't worry about dining reservations. You will be able to walk up to any restaurant and get a table because it is just two of you and it is your honeymoon.". We ate a lot of QS meals that week. Haven't used a TA for a trip to WDW since.

Another was... "Go to the Food & Wine Festival on the weekends because all of the kiosks/booths are open then. They aren't all open during the weekdays because of the lighter crowds.". How misinformed we used to be.. :)

You have to go to Magic Kingdom on your first day because it's the park that feels the most like Disney.
This might be ok advice if 90% of the other vacationers didn't do the same thing and wind up in line with you.

We didn't do MK on our first day, simply because it wasn't a recommended park that day. I'm glad we ended up with DHS first, because I think if we'd done all the others before it, it would have been a big let down!

But, the "first day" on everybody's trip to WDW is not the same day as yours.
That's true, but the percentage of people who arrive on Sat or Sun and then go to MK on Sun or Mon make those two days ones that I avoid - I usually do AK on a Sunday or Epcot on a Monday. Of course, if you happen to arrive on a Tues, then visiting MK on your first day - Wednesday - is a great idea!

But, most people go for a week, so Monday is always busier at MK of the weekdays because it's more often the first day of a trip than any other day of the week not including SAt and Sun.

Save your wishes fp+ till the last night (yeah that was me that gave myself that advice!!)

It poured on our last night, and I mean poured - to the point I was actually cold, in August, in Florida and we decided to abandon the parks...

It was our last night of vacation too... and I never got to see Wishes in the new FP+ area

This year, it's booked for our third night... so if it does rain, I can rebook :)

Its so funny how widely that varies. I've come off soaked to the bone, and I've come off with just a few sprinkles. The front seat is the worst though, and there is no way to prepare for it or combat against it.

My daughter and I were in the front on one trip and ducked down, leaving my poor husband and son to take a huge wave RIGHT IN THE FACE. One of our best Disney memories ever because they totally didn't expect it. LOL.

A friend was asking me for advise a few days ago and said that someone told her to skip EPCOT. I was shocked!

I think the worst advise I have heard recently is to wait to take kids until they are older. I have heard so many times that DS (2.5, almost 3) will not remember this trip so what is the point? The magic is so real for little kids and I can't imagine waiting to take him. We will have the pictures and memories to share with him. Plus, we will go again.

A matter of opinion for sure, but the advise to stay off-site to save money. With the extra cost of gas, parking, and lost time, we will never do it again.

So true! Many folks don't know this. One trip last two weeks of August (we were off site, went for 15 nights) we made a couple trips to Target & bought hoodies! We needed them in the evenings, as well as in many attractions and restaurants.

I never get advice from anyone. When my extended family hears I'm going back, they just roll their eyes now!

I have heard I must do this or that extra tour, or get up and out early in the morning. It's my vacation; I also want to come back a bit rested. If we don't make it out until noon, so be it! In all my trips, I've made it to a park opening only on one morning (and I don't think it was really planned)!
