*LIVE* from the Polynesian GV CL ~ Aug 24-Sept 1 ~

Steve the awesome bartender at the pool bar! I recognized him from other people's pictures and I told him that he was "a minor celebrity, creating a minor stir in the Internet!" (Seinfeld quote!!! lol)

@Tikiman Steve said to say Hi to you!!! :D

Thank you for this report! We are staying GV CL for the first time in October so this report is so refreshing...especially after all the negative reviews I have been reading. I can't wait to go now after reading your report!

I agree! Our family is staying TPV CL in December and I was really becoming a little concerned about all of the negative reviews. Thank you for your lovely updates each day and are having a wonderful time.

25 umbrellas! That's awesome! There were no where near 25 umbrellas when we were there in early July. I'm so glad they added more. Maybe people complained.

I am so glad that lady returned your bracelet. That was so kind of her. You are right, there still are good people in the world.

Thrilled about the umbrellas! !!!!! I'm glad you enjoyed the water park, I have really learned to love our time in the water parks the last several years, we love them both, but Typhoon had the slight edge for us. I hope your night and tomorrow are magical, thanks for the updates!

We just had breakfast in the lounge. All of the CMs have been very friendly. A CM named Ivette has been especially attentive and I watched as she very carefully arranged the fruit platter when she was replenishing it, moving grapes around and stepping back to see how it all looked. :D

Another CM from the concierge desks downstairs came up and noticed that we looked like we were waiting for something so she asked if we needed anything so I told her that I was waiting to ask for a carafe of water to take back to our room. She went into the back and told another CM that "a guest would like a carafe if water" and the CM responded very cheerfully "absolutely! I'll get that right now". I thanked the desk CM and then the lounge CM brought it right out.

I'm sharing this because sometimes we read a lot of negative things or experiences. These are my own experiences and observations. :sunny:

We are VERY happy with our room location. A week before we left I called IPO (usually I just email them, but I wanted to call them this time) and discussed specifically what we'd like in a room: third floor because we wanted a balcony, and asked for end closer to the elevator because of Samoa being there and could be a bit of a buffer. Also wanted a room close to elevator because I use a scooter or rolling walker and it's easier being close.

This room fit all of those perfectly! I couldn't have chosen a better room for us.

Glad you got a great room and are loving the location! :wizard:

Yes, that's it! :D

:goodvibes

It took me a few minutes, but I wasn't going to stop looking at the pic until I found it .

I posted this on my Disney in August Facebook group this morning, but I wanted to share this here too!

Just a quick post from WDW! Last night my husband and I attended the "Illuminations Sparkling Dessert Party". After the fireworks were over we were looking at the pictures that we took of the fireworks when a woman came up to me and said "Are you missing a bracelet by any chance?" So I checked my left wrist and saw that my Magic Band was still there. Then I looked at my right wrist and saw that my Chamilia bracelet full of beads and charms worth hundreds of dollars and are priceless and irreplaceable was missing!! I felt shocked and looked at her and she then held out my bracelet!!! She said that she didn't want to turn it into a CM so she was asking people in the hopes of finding the owner. I hugged her so tight and thanked her over and over. It had been raining so we were wearing ponchos and I never would've noticed that it was missing until much later on and I would've had a heart attack and been extremely upset. So there are still really really really good people out there at WDW! I took a pic of my bracelet.

So glad your bracelet was found by someone honest! :wizard:

Glad you are having such positive experiences! We love the Poly and are trying CL for the first time next summer. The negative reviews never made me question our decision as we've always wanted to try it, but your great reviews are making me even more excited than I already am :).

Amy chance you could ask what they do for gluten free guest staying club level. Are they able to provide a warm appetizer choice each night that we at we will be in the lounge that would be Gf? I'm just curious. I have celiac and have a stay planned there in May.

Thanks and happy anniversary!

I spoke with the CL lounge CMs tonight and they said that they can accommodate all kinds of special diets, including gluten free! They said that you should have it noted on your reservation before you arrive, and then speak directly with the CMs in the lounge when you get here. Hope this helps. :)

Just finding your live report and it's amazing. Thanks so much for sharing your experiences. We are checking into poly for the first time in a week and your report is completely getting me ready. Happy anniversary!

Yes, I agree with everyone that this live report is awesome! Great pictures and just the right amount of info :).

I have the GF RPC on my radar for next trip, but it's SO hard to break away from Poly. Just love it there!

Is it busy at the resort right now (like pools, restaurants) or has it does down since some schools are back in session?

From what I was reading from people who were here before this week, it was still pretty crowded. It has definitely died down since then. My DH and I were saying that crowd-wise, it feels more like the early May or early November trips that we've been on. :)
