Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

I don't know if it was a test but there were Epcot buses at the YC the first week of October. It was funny because I remarked to a friend that I wished I had known about the buses on my last trip, when I had a heel spur. I just assumed they had always been there and we just missed them every other time we went.

We were at the BC the third week in October and didn't see the Epcot buses, but I have heard about other people seeing them.

Katesdad..... We live quite far away and I own my own business, meaning I rarely get time off and work 6-7 days a week. We can be upset over whatever we want for our vacation and expectations. If I was going to a four seasons or a Hilton or anything 4* plus that charges $300++ a night, I expect the amenities listed unless there is notice given or an emergency. I expect this at ANY hotel. I can't believe you had to turn off the computer because of my post, but this is a bucket list resort for us and may be the only time we stay there for a long time. Unlike many here, we don't only vaca at Disney. We go to many different places. If I booked and a notice about a refurb went out in plenty of time, then I could make a decision. But I booked in October and leave in 2 days. No notice was given. I don't care about the slide much, as we aren't slide people, but if I had kids looking forward to it and had a weeks notice on it closing I would be upset. Please don't worry so much about my vaca that you have to shut down your computers! Seems extreme!

Thanks! I have a whole fleet of minions at my disposal. Wait. Wrong theme park...

But this pool thing has me so worked up that I am going to go to Florida next week to check it out myself!!! I'll be hanging out at the Beach Club during Teena's shift next Sunday and see if I can get additional info on the pool, travel mugs and maybe do a timed walk over to the Boardwalk...

:banana::banana::banana:

I'll be hobbling around the Beach Club on Sunday after running the 1/2 marathon on Saturday. I learned my lesson with the full marathon a few years ago! :crutches:

YC is been on my bucket list for many years but I hear so many complaints about it being overrated and not worth the money. I'm a DVC member but I would still love to stay here for a night or two but now I'm hesitant since I've heard lots of negative feedback. It really seems very expensive IMO so don't know if I would do better just spending my money elsewhere. Has it just become run down or has it just fallen from grace for another reason? It just doesn't seem to get the love that BC does.

Need to make a quick decision and would love some advice. Currently have a 3 night stay in late April booked at BC for an excellent price, but it's standard view and no way of upgrading the view. For $290 more, I could switch to the YC and it would be garden view with balcony, but it's during what I think is a time of room renovations, correct? And the walk to Epcot would be a little further. And I'd be out another $300. I guess I'm wondering how awful the standard view rooms are at BC and if I should switch... Thanks in advance!

:welcome:

I would take the BC SV room. Be back with reasons in a second.

ETA:

Are you able to cancel/change your reservation if a better deal comes up? If you booked what I think you did, you are still subject to the Disney cancellation deadlines. You can always cancel your reservation if a better deal comes out later.

Yes, renovations will be taking place at the Yacht Club in late April.

Check out the samples of standard view rooms in the Beach Club View Thread. The first page has an index by view type/

I don't think the standard views are terrible, but for me, a good view is nice but not essential. We are not in the room much during the day, so the only time I am out on the balcony is when it is dark, early in the morning or late at night.

The lack of a guarantee of a full balcony is the biggest downside for me when we stay at the Beach Club. I have never stayed at the Yacht Club.

For us, no view is worth extra money. While we enjoy a nice view, we look at it for 5 minutes and then never again. This is not a cruise, where we spend a lot of time in our room. It's a theme park and we're always on the go. We choose BC/YC for the location, room size/having a daybed, and the pool.

This being said, on our last trip to WDW we stayed at YC, and we had a fabulous time! Yes, it's a little further walking to Epcot, but just a few minutes (3-5, depending on your walking speed and where in the BC you are walking from). However, it is at the boat dock, and we found ourselves constantly hopping the boats to/from DHS. On more than one occasion we just had to hop over to Starring Rolls for a cupcake, and it was relatively easy to do. So what you lose by being further from Epcot, you gain by being closer to DHS. You are just as close to the pool, either way, since it is in the middle of the two resorts.

Also, the bus stop at YC is first, which makes it easier to get a seat in the morning when traveling to the parks, and is a nice perk on the way back from the parks when you are dropped off before BC people.

Dee, you need to try out YC next time! Give it a chance and you will enjoy it! I highly recommend requesting a room on the second floor near the lobby stairs.

Now the renovations are a point worthy of consideration. The BC renovation is all done, and at YC you may get an older room. That may also make it worthwhile to stay with your standard view at BC (if the cost savings isn't enough for you).

Okay, Disney planning geek that I am, this issue has been on my mind lately. I know I'm a bit early in bringing it up, but I wanted to collect the opinions of the BC/YC experts on this one!

We will be staying at BC in June. It is my understanding that the Frozen (formerly Maelstrom) ride will open in May. I am expecting this ride to be insanely popular, to be a Tier 1 FP, and to likely open with Future World at 9 am, due to said insane popularity. My question is, if this ride becomes a 'rope drop rush', will entering from the International Gateway give us any advantage, as compared to the people at the front gate? Also, which way do you think would be better to get there from around the World Showcase? I know the route south past Canada and then around to Mexico is shorter than going north past Italy and Japan, but going south may dump us into the rope drop crowds, which might slow us down.

So, what do you guys think? What is the best route to Norway/Arendelle and the frozen ride at rope drop?

They say you catch more flies with honey than you do vinegar. We participate on this board to help each other. Please resist the urge to take out any frustrations on the fine folks that post here to help people. That effort is misplaced and is undeserving of the people that take the time to try and answer questions in a helpful and positive manner.

Any additional pictures of the yacht club club lounge in recent days? Also, did they only add 1 hotel room to the footprint (as opposed to 2 for the beach club lounge)? I ask because from the pictures, it still appears fairly small vs. BC.

Hi! I can tell you for certain they only added 1 room to the lounge. The CM checking us in told us they "took a guest room" & converted it. The area that was a previous guest room is now the serving area. The area that was previously the serving area now has a TV & 3 upholstered chairs. The actual "eating" area has not increased. In the eating area, there are 2 larger tables that have bench seating on 1 side & chairs on the other (same as before rehab). There are about 5 tables with 2 chairs each & 4 or 5 tables with 4 chairs (didn't do an exact count). The couch, side chairs & coffee table are gone. There might be 1 or 2 more actual tables, but definitely not a big increase in seating. I can't compare to BC since I was in that lounge before their rehab.

We have stayed at the YC twice in the last 15 months and both rooms were spotless and in good shape. It should be completely refurbished by this time next year so maybe you would like to wait and try it then. :)

I would not spend an extra $300 to get a YC garden view room over a BC standard view. Unless you want a guaranteed full balcony then I would stay at the BC. The standard view rooms are not that bad. ;)

It will be shorter to walk past Canada to get to Norway then to walk past France. I'm not sure if there will be an advantage for those at the International Gateway. The main entrance might be a little shorter.

Hi everyone! I'm looking for some BC/YC advice for our upcoming stay (5/28-6/3). Currently we have a reservation through a travel agency at the BC. It's a great deal at $1906.00 (tax included) for 6 nights in a standard view BC room. I am not crazy about that view category, but it's all that's offered. So, I was just looking at the spring offer on the Disney site and see that we can get a Garden/Woods view at the YC for $2,244. That's not much more, but aren't there renovations going on at the YC? Since we have never stayed at an EPCOT resort and have no frame of reference, I am asking the experts on this thread. Would you rather have a standard view at BC or garden view at YC? We have 2 boys, ages 12 and 9 and really are excited about the proximity to EPCOT and of course SAB. Any thoughts or advice is appreciated.

Thanks so much!!

I personally would save the few hundred bucks and stay put at the BC. I don't usually pay extra for a view because I'm not in the room enough. We spend a lot of time at the resort but not in our room. Last year we stayed at the BC and were booked in SV but got upgraded to a garden view. The view was lovely but I may have stood/sat on the balcony for a total of 15 mins the whole trip. Also, the BC rooms were just refurbed and they are gorgeous! The YC is undergoing a refurb but there is no guarantee you'll get a refurbed room. Either way, you can't go wrong. The whole YC/BC resort area is fabulous! Have a great trip!
