Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

Hi everyone! I'm looking for some BC/YC advice for our upcoming stay (5/28-6/3). Currently we have a reservation through a travel agency at the BC. It's a great deal at $1906.00 (tax included) for 6 nights in a standard view BC room. I am not crazy about that view category, but it's all that's offered. So, I was just looking at the spring offer on the Disney site and see that we can get a Garden/Woods view at the YC for $2,244. That's not much more, but aren't there renovations going on at the YC? Since we have never stayed at an EPCOT resort and have no frame of reference, I am asking the experts on this thread. Would you rather have a standard view at BC or garden view at YC? We have 2 boys, ages 12 and 9 and really are excited about the proximity to EPCOT and of course SAB. Any thoughts or advice is appreciated.

Thanks so much!!

There have been a few posts in the last few days asking the exact same thing so read back a few pages for lots of input. It's really hard to give advice since each person's opinions are so different. One thing to consider is if you will want a full balcony or not. If that is important to you, almost every room st the YC has a full balcony. The BC has many rooms with small, "Juliet" type balconies. Will you spend time sitting on the balcony & relaxing, enjoying the view? Or will you be too busy fir that? Then the view isn't as important. Lots of folks here wouldn't pay for a view. But personally, we always stay in a waterview room at YC. I do spend time on my balcony almost every day, as we don't do the parks commando style & spend lots of time in the room.

There will be renovations at the YC. BC was renovated last year & there really were no problems reported from anyone about noise or construction issues. So I expect there won't be any issues at the YC either. They close off the areas they are working on so it's not like you risk being in a construction zone staying there. We were at YC in Dec & booked our bounceback for early September. I'm not worried at all about the rehab there.

We like the YC more than the BC for many reasons, so we always book there. We prefer the décor, the quietness of the lobby, the balcony & the waterviews there . But if the YC wasn't available, we'd certainly have no problem staying at the BC. I don't think you can go wrong at either one. The choice between the 2 is just a very personal preference.

Thank you focusondisney and disny_luvr, for your input. I forgot about the balcony issue at BC, so that is definitely something to consider. Honestly, it's probably going to be so hot that I will skip sitting on the balcony. We used to be commando style in the parks, but with the new FP system that we are very unfamiliar with, we plan to spend more time at the resort. Hmmm, decisions, decisions!

Thanks again!!

Hi there! I have very similar circumstances. We also booked through a travel agency (I can tell by the price that it's the same one ;)) -- our dates are 5/26 - 6/4, also in a standard view at BC. We also have 2 boys (who will be 13 and 9). We have stayed in the Epcot resorts/Boardwalk area many times, but we've never stayed at YC and we've only stayed at BC once. That time, we had a garden view there (it was facing the wooded area separating the BC from Epcot). I'm also hesitant about the standard view because I do spend time on my balcony (and I just had the most lovely view at the Grand Floridian in November), but I've decided not to sweat it. I'm going to request a full-sized balcony and hope for the best. In your situation, I wouldn't switch for over $300 more. I think the renovated room will outweigh the chance of having a nicer view.

Okay, Disney planning geek that I am, this issue has been on my mind lately. I know I'm a bit early in bringing it up, but I wanted to collect the opinions of the BC/YC experts on this one!

We will be staying at BC in June. It is my understanding that the Frozen (formerly Maelstrom) ride will open in May. I am expecting this ride to be insanely popular, to be a Tier 1 FP, and to likely open with Future World at 9 am, due to said insane popularity. My question is, if this ride becomes a 'rope drop rush', will entering from the International Gateway give us any advantage, as compared to the people at the front gate? Also, which way do you think would be better to get there from around the World Showcase? I know the route south past Canada and then around to Mexico is shorter than going north past Italy and Japan, but going south may dump us into the rope drop crowds, which might slow us down.

So, what do you guys think? What is the best route to Norway/Arendelle and the frozen ride at rope drop?

If you are going at "rope drop" you will not be allowed past France - World Showcase will not open until 11:00 even on EMH mornings. Only France's Bakery is open, and CM's won't let anyone past there. So you are stuck going past Canada and Mexico. Doubt that you will beat the "rope drop" crowd coming from the main entrance.

ETA: Sorry, now that I've posted this, I see several others have already answered...I'm a little behind!

Wow, thank you! How funny that we are practically in the same boat. I've decided to stay put at BC. I'm so looking forward to trying an EPCOT resort. We had dinner at Cape May on our last trip and I fell in love on the spot with the beautiful grounds. I am now going to focus my worries on room requests. Thanks again for your input. Maybe I will see you around the BC. I'll be the one in the Mickey shirt. :teeth:

I just called to ask a CM about the YC renovations because I am not seeing anything online. The CM said at this time we don't have any renovations scheduled except for Stormalong Bay. Am I missing some inside information?

One more thing in common... we both have "Mama" in our user names. :rotfl:

You'll love staying at an Epcot resort and you'll love the Beach Club. One of my favorite smells in all of WDW is the BC lobby. It's wonderful being able to walk or boat to 2 parks. Love the entertainment on the Boardwalk at night and the vibe. I love the MK area, too, but for us the Boardwalk/Epcot area just feels like "home".

I would always trust the info on this thread over the people who answer the phone at wdw. It shouldn't be that way, but I've learned that is just how it is.The only exception is if I'm calling the club level ipo.

We are excited to try our 1st stay at BC (we love BWI and YC) but want to try something different this time.

We have a waterview room booked and I asked for a 1st floor room as I love the patio rooms at YC. Does anybody have experience with waterview 1st floor rooms. I do not really care about a daybed or location on the 1st floor, just want a patio.

The YC's Concierge Club refurb completed about three weeks ago. Following the BC's construction schedule, over the past year, or so, the Club level guest rooms on 5 will be worked on next. The construction area is blocked from public access, and work only is performed during daytime hours, after 9:00 a.m., or so. They work from the top floor, down.

I stayed at the BC a few times, while the refurb work was being done, and can honestly say it was not bothersome. The worst was that during one of the visits, only one elevator location was accessible...no big inconvenience.

If the YC has the same approximate construction schedule that the BC had, all work should be finished during the fall, 2016.

If you spoke with someone at Disney Travel (Disney's room reservation number), those CMs are not always up-to-date nor knowledgeable about the individual resorts.

:welcome:

I'll add you to the list.

As Mike suggested, Page 1 of this thread (particularly Posts 13 FAQ and 14 Other Useful Info). The Beach Club View Thread he referred to is in the Resort Community subforum. For a BC Garden View, our favorite rooms has been one that looks over the BC Back Entrance (lakeside) courtyard. If you go back a few pages you will see the disputed garden/water view Erika (TigrLvsPooh) has posted. GREAT people watching.

Let us know if you have other questions along the way.

:goodvibes:

THANK YOU!!!! :)

Hi! I love this thread! I've been following along and really appreciate everyone's input about these 2 wonderful resorts! We were books garden view at the BC but a garden view at the YC opened and it will save us $529! I was prepared to make the decision by what I've read here (that's why I kept looking!) and we have moved to the YC!! Full balcony here we come!! (Still 4/29 to 5/6!!) Yay!!

What is the length of the daybed? Can an adult sleep on it well enough?

Welcome to the thread that goes the extra mile for you!

Here are a couple of posts from August

Here is the tag from the daybed for the person who asked. Hope this helps.

If you click on the links in shoreward's post you will get all of the size/dimension info you are looking for. :magnify:

Good detective work, Dee!

Flexsteel is a very large manufacturer of furniture for the contract (commercial) market.

According to the tag info, here is the model of sleeper sofa, which is manufactured for hospitality and senior living resident rooms:

Specs: http://www.flexsteel.com/flx/spec_sheet.php?sku=CB002-44

Flexsteel has always manufactured very comfortable sleeper sofas.

I slept in the daybed in August 2014, and it was fine, but I'm every inch of 5 feet tall. Reports from regular-sized adults, including my monkey roommate Rafiki, are that the sleeper is very comfortable.

Big thumbs up to this daybed. I am very tall at 5' 10" and found the bed very comfortable.

This daybed is Rafiki approved.

Awesome! Thanks!! I'm planning a stay at the Beach Club with my dad and my adult nephew, so I'm guessing as the shortest person I should take the daybed. I'm still 5'8 so not that short, but it sounds like the daybed should be just fine!

Happy New Year to all my wonderful Yacht and Beach Club friends.

My many countdown apps inform me that we have 222 days to go before returning to Florida. Meanwhile my bathroom scales inform me that I have 1 stone and 8lbs to loose before I can fit into any of my vacation clothes. :rotfl2:

page 349-350

Thanks for the help so far! We are traveling May 29-June 4 (ugh- I know, Memorial Day week- nephew's 5th birthday so no choice). I am wondering if this is a typically busy time at Yacht Club? Rooms are hard to come by at the moment. We do like to stay Club Level- will more rooms become available or once they are booked they typically stay booked? Also, I have a Deluxe room at the moment- which is nice though the current discount doesn't do much for the price at the moment. We were thinking of booking a Lagoon View Club Level. Thanks!

Thanks for the dates. The Yacht Club and Beach Club tend to be pretty fully booked all year round from what I understand. But guests are booking and cancelling reservations all the time, so keep checking.

:thumbsup2

If you could add us to the roll call, we will be at Yacht Club May 24-30! So excited!!!!

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1.

:cool1:

Say, don't I know you from somewhere? You look veeerrry familiar! ;)

:goodvibes:

If you could add us too to the Be Our Guest list....will be at BCV 8/13-21

Will do!

:woohoo:

We've booked a 1 Bedroom CL suite at BC for Oct 1-13. I'm wondering if I want to change this to a regular CL room. We love having the two rooms, my sons tend to sleep better when we are not all in the same room. However, what I love about CL is being able to walk down the hallway to the lounge and there is not a 1 Bdrm suite on the CL floor. Has anyone stayed in a 1 Bdrm suite at BC? Is the extra space worth the hallway walks and elevator rides? Would love your thoughts and opinions on this.

:welcome: back!

I'll add you to the list.

:woohoo:

I have not stayed in a 1 BR Suite but I have been in a club level room, on the same floor as the lounge. We really liked that because in the morning we would go right from our room to the lounge for breakfast, back to the room if we needed a quick pit stop and we would make it to the parks for EMH rope drop.

:thumbsup2

I just booked a 1 bedroom villa for Nov. 4 - 8. We were there years ago and finally making it back. Can't wait to be back.

I know construction hasn't even started, but do you think it will still be going on in November?

:welcome: back!

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.

:cool1:

Don't know the timetable for the BCV renovation. I think when it was originally planned for 2015, the work was going to happen from March to December.

:)

Wahoo...Beach Club Dreams coming true! Booked a Girls Running Trip at the Beach Club November 4-9! Beyond excited for this stay!

:welcome:

So glad to see you here!

I'll add you to the list.

We'll be back for our 2nd YC stay in Feb-Mar. We're doing kind of a crazy split stay, Poly for 1 night, YC for 3 nights, and WL for 2 nights, but I think it will work out perfectly (and minimize our bus time). We originally booked a garden view, but I was just able to get a lagoon/pool view via Orbitz for about the same price. We're also going to be visiting during the start of Flower and Garden, which I'm really excited about (especially since we can stroll over to Epcot in the evening, and eat from some of the booths!).

Thanks to all for all the helpful info in this thread!

:welcome: back!

I'll add you to the list.

:woohoo:

We are staying at the BC 1/7-10 for marathon weekend. Have not received any notice.

:welcome: back!!!

I'll add you to the list.
