Does WDW restaurants have calories on their menu? If not, could you ask for them from the waiter?

Not helpful but I bag the diet during Disney. I go low carb six months to Disney then totally bag it. I come back hurtin.

But to answer your question you can ask them and they will provide what is currently available.

Disney does not publish nutritional information. I doubt any server would know the calorie counts of every item on the menus.

If you have a medical condition requiring close monitoring of carbs and calories, you will need to track that and estimate for yourself. There are books and apps for that. Calorie King is one used by many diabetics.

There's no way that I would want to know how many calories are in all of my favorite Disney foods. :scared:
It would totally ruin it! Eating at Disney is part of the fun for me. Plus, there's so much walking, and running depending on if you are late for your fastpass :teeth:, that it is hard to gain weight.

Calories don't count at Disney!

Seriously though, you do so much walking that as long as you don't go crazy, you can still treat yourself and probably not gain any weight.

While I agree that one walks a lot at Disney, it's not what I would call exercise walking. I walk a ton at Disney in a day's time, but it's generally leisurely strolls around the park, and with all the standing in line mixed in, I always manage to put on weight at Disney.

This is the one time of the year where I try to leave my calorie counting and eating healthy back home with reality. There are so many things we really enjoy in Disney and we have our favorite TS meals we go to each trip, so we try to just forget about what's in everything and enjoy it. Luckily we do so much walking, and I have never gained weight after a trip to WDW.. but of course that doesn't mean it can't happen. I don't ever recall seeing calories printed on the menus anywhere though.

Calories don't count at Disney. The food is made of pixie dust

So that explains why places like Chef Mickey & BOG (breakfast) are so popular, it's the pixie dust. :rotfl2: (It's sure not the quality and/or prices)

Correct....pixie dust and lard.

I gained 8 lbs on our last visit to Disney.

I hear you, I'm very active and exercise; but on my last trip I also gained 7 pounds. Some of it is from the heavy doses of sodium in the food but it still took me a few weeks to lose the entire 7 pounds.

Once again, same here. Most of the walking like you said is not exercise walking, or at least brisk exercise. The exception to this would be if someone is one of those RD people who make the aggressively fast walking version of the running of the bulls to 7DMT or the same scenario at HS and TsM. :rotfl:

While I am in the "forget the calories, its Disney so they don't count" camp, I am sympathetic to those who watch calories for reasons that are important to them ... sometimes it is a real health issue. I just spent about five minutes "trolling" through the hits on a google search of "calorie counts Disney restaurants". While I didn't find any specific information there was information that may make it easier to make informed choices while you are there. You may also try asking your server if the information is available ... Disney is generally quite accommodating.

You can also just use what you know about food, maybe an app that helps with similiar foods to gauge approx. calorie counts.... I am LOL'ing over the pixie dust and lard comments.....:rotfl2: and so-o-o glad that others are starting to post a refuting of the 'you'll walk so much you can eat what you want' silliness.... for most of us that's just not true. You'd really have to be walking hard and fast for many miles (think speedwalking) to burn off the average disney cupcake! (that's fine with me,as I don't worry when on vacation either- but I know the score lol)...and Babycakes donuts are going to get me every single time..... pixie dust!:rotfl:

You can add me to the group that loses weight at Disney. I actually take three different sizes of clothes and start with the largest first. After 3-4 days, I start wearing the middle sizes, and the last 3-4 days of the trip I'm in the smallest size. It's not that the sizes are wrong on the clothes either. If I accidentally grab one of the smallest at the beginning of the trip, I can't get it on because it's too tight. Of course, it probably depends on how active you are in your daily life. I spend 12+ hours sitting at a desk at work every day - so even the leisurely strolls are more exercise than I'm used to.

To the topic at hand though - just curious . . .I thought they had written information regarding allergies. Would calorie counts be included in that information (if it exists)?

I've never gained. And do DP. Usually one buffett and QS per day. I average 25,000 steps per day. I do cutthe alcohol as honestly I cannot afford a drink or two at each meal. So it's water or diet

Disney will tell you what brand of foods they use, they'll tell you how things are prepared, they'll offer allergen information. But trying to get calorie and other nutritional information out of them (like sodium) is near impossible. Obviously the pre-packaged things they sell at the shops have nutritional info printed on them. My best advice is to become educated in calorie counts for comparable items at other places and use logic to make reasonable choices, but inflate your calorie estimate.

Every restaurant maintains a binder which contains the ingredient lists for its menu items. And these can be accessed by guests who have allergies or have a medical reason for avoiding certain foods. I have never heard of calories being an allergen. No, calories are not included in the ingredient lists.
