Official 2016 Disneyland Half Marathon Thread

I think I bring less fuel to a half-ironman. ;) The nice thing about having plenty on hand is being able to share with people on the course who don't have any and need some.

When I get tired around mile 12 I'm going to keep a lookout for @Keels for a snack!

edit: And bandaids!

For what it's worth, we ran the race in 2013 when most of the days set the record for temperature. That day looks like it had a low of 76 and reached a high of 96 in the afternoon. Even starting in the back, the temperatures weren't too bad through the morning for the race. The afternoon following our nap was still just as miserable though.

Hmm ... that was my first RunDisney race that year and my first 10k. I don't really remember it being overly hot ... although lots of clouds in the photos. Maybe super humid? I also ran A LOT less than I do now. Also, I am becoming less tolerant of a lot of things as I age. LOL

Thanks for the tracking - just signed up to get notifications for myself, husband and two friends. The two friends are in different corrals and my husband is slower than me (and we won't be running together).

RTRT.me is AWESOME - a great upgrade for spectators from the past system. The site and app will actually show runners as a little dot moving live along the course, so people can see where you are along the course. It also shows elevations and different portions of the course, if any newbie is curious about the course makeup!

@Keels - have you tried the Glukos fuel? It's pretty good and I like that it's a bit more watered down so I don't have to hit a water station to swish out the mouth when taking Gu.

~~~~~~~
Night temps are starting to cool off - yay! Went out for a run last night and it was actually doable. Keeping fingers crossed that it's more in line with 80 degrees predicted by Weather.com for the half than the 85 degrees predicted on Accuweather.
I haven't - but if it's a gel like Gu (or really anything viscose like that), I tend to avoid those. I prefer chewy things, like gummy bears. I'm such a weirdo!!! :crazy2:
They also do chewy fuel too! I like both - was surprised to see it wasn't in your stash. You'll get access to them for free at mile 7 or 8 if you run the RNR NOLA HM. (Which btw is an amazing course, just watch out for the potholes in the street during the first 5 miles).
OTherwise, here's the discount link: http://www.glukosenergy.com/products/rock-n-roll-gel-and-gummie-sample-pack.html :D
Awesome!!! Thanks - I'll check them out!
And I LOVE the NOLA course! We did the 10K last year and had an amazing time, so I'm really looking forward to a trip back next year. I can never have toooooooooo much NOLA!
Question for you on gummies. Do you have a trick for not letting them get sticky with the heat of the race or the pocket they're kept in? I really prefer the Honey Stinger gummies to the Honey Stinger and Clif gels I'm currently using, but the way the gummies get sticky and then make my fingers sticky eating them drives me nuts!
I'm the same way! I can't use any of the gel-type products. I stick with the chewy things.
I haven't tried the Honey Stinger gummies, but I use the Gu Chomps. I put them in a plastic bag inside my pouch (roo sport) and I haven't run into too many issues with them melting down too much. If they do get a little sticky I just pull out the plastic bag and pop them into my mouth from there - keeping my fingers on the outside of the plastic bag.
Is the tracking only for 10k & Half Marathons?
Thank you
Count me in on the gummy/jelly bean/must chew. Also, even though I love chocolate, I want no part of it while running.
@Keels where are you seeing that weather, because that's way better than what I see. lol
