News Round Up 2016

While I'll agree with you to a point, if they build something truly impressive - the reputation will get around. I mean Universal got a lot of mileage out of Harry Potter, but if they'd built it on the cheap and shoddy, word would've rapidly got around. It's as successful as it is still today because it is well done.

Another example is Carsland. Do you think there were a ton of people (specifically adults) lining up going "I can't wait for a CARS themed area! YAY!" Carslands massive susccess is due to how good it is, not the IP. (And yes, it is still a better IP than Avatar.)

If Pandora ends up being "the best thing Disney ever did" it will no doubt bring in the people.

I absolutely agree with this. I saw the first cars movie years ago and thought it was OK. I've never seen the others and haven't really cared to. However, I was completely blown away by Carsland. Maybe not worth a trip by itself but certainly influences the decision to go.

Could these be for Star Wars or Toy Story Land at DHS, since Caribbean Beach is slow close to it?
Those are pretty high balloons. I don't believe anything would be that visible from Star Wars or toy story. These either have to do with DVC or maybe a parking structure at DHS? It's all speculation right now.

I think they look kinda daft like that. If they went all in on that style though (I.E. much more rock work, and all throughout TL) that could be pretty cool.

I think they're doing it so they don't have to go all-in. It's a cheap way to make a big visual impact.

Just wanted to share that Tokyo got a new Halloween parade this year. It's well, interesting, not something I would go and see.

thanks for sharing - it's pretty fun but makes the Boo to You parade look like Halloween Horror Nights in comparison (maybe if it was at night it would seem more Halloweenish? I got more of a musical instrument vibe from it ... side note, the guy pretending to play the guitar on the Stitch float was really bad at faking it)

Interesting to see the characters that get prominent spots compared to Stateside ... Max leading the first float, some female squirrel equal billing to Minnie, etc.

I agree- very interesting to see which characters they included. I was most surprised to see that the Three Little Pigs have their own float. The "female squirrel" is Clarice of Chip and Dale adventures. She is very popular in Paris, but I didn't know that extended to Tokyo as well. I was surprised to see her on the float with Minnie vs the float with Chip and Dale. I thought the Candy Mummy dancers were fun and the floats are very imaginative. Thanks for sharing! I hope to visit the Tokyo park at some point!

I think Tokyo tends to go for a sort of cute vibe. Although myself I don't really find this parade too hallowennie (pretty sure that's not a word), I think its would be better if it had a few villans. Their seasonal parades tend to consist of Mickey and friends only, with a couple of film characters.

I'm surprised they have a Halloween-ish parade at all. The modern observance of Halloween where people dress up, worship pumpkins, and beg for candy, is a very American holiday. My international family is fascinated by it all.

Well Japan didn't have Halloween, then companys, including Disney, basically imported it from the US and apparently it is quite popular, although maybe the scare aspect got lost.
