Disney 2018

Our first trip was 9 days back in 2009 and every year since we have kept adding days. This summer we went for 22 days.
We our Disney Vacation Club, so we have points every year. We will usually use 2 years of points for each trip so we can go longer, but we go every other year. We are skipping 2016 and 2017 so we will have 3 years of points and can stay longer and at nicer bigger rooms.

It's funny how the addiction kicks in, yeah? We just started a few years ago with one week, and now we just booked ourselves a 24 day stay for Oct/Nov. Can't wait!

Going September 2018 for Food and Wine!!! Staying at the Yacht Club :dance3:
Just counting down the days and days and days....... :upsidedow :bored::rolleyes1
My countdown will look much better soon when its under the two year mark :D

We have a trip schedule for April 2017. But I know for sure we are going again in 2018. Just don't know the month yet. Sept., Oct., Nov., Dec. still trying to decide what month.

I have less than two months to go before our first F&W. I'm looking forward to it!

We have never been for Food and Wine looking forward to it as well. We were at Disney this past May and got to be there for the Flower and Garden Festival for the first time. It's nice to experience new things each time we visit.
Have a great trip :D

We were at Disney this past May
We were also there in May, although, it's now turned into a tradition, starting with Chef Mickey's for Mother's Day :-) I've never been to your favorite resort. I do plan on checking it out this coming trip. Funny thing is that I didn't even know it existed during our last trip! Disney is like an ogre (or is it an onion? lol) ... so many layers to reveal each visit.

I just love the Hotel and location, its great to be able to walk to Epcot plus the Boardwalk is right there and they have restaurants and entertainment. IMO I am happy to just always stay at the Yacht Club and I'm really looking forward to when they finish the rehab which should be starting this upcoming October I believe.

@louey Do you always reserve a hotel room or do you rent DVC points? I plan to check it out when we go in Oct, but I'm curious about the differences in the room.

We are planning to go in Jan 2018 after the rates drop. DH doesn't understand why I am planning for 9 days. o_O

Do any of you (who aren't in DVC) make reservations at 499 days out? I am coming up to that point, and I haven't figured out a reason that I need to do that.

I'm a cross t's, dot i's sort of character, sometimes ;-) soooo, yup, we're reserved through Dec 2017 ... DVC is a bonus.

Yes we always reserve a room, usually with a discount. We have stayed at All Star Sports, Contemporary, Animal Kingdom Lodge and the Yacht Club. I know I should try some of the others but I'm happy to just stay at the Yacht Club from now on :D

I usually make my reservations that far out and just keep an eye out for discounts. The only bad part is you have to pay one night at full price for the deposit. Go for it :D

I love this option and don't think the one night deposit is asking too much ... it's better than what they ask if you're making it a package, at least :-) Plus, it's refundable if you have to cancel with enough notice, so that's nice.

Isn't it only a $200 deposit when you book a package? Then total due 45 days out?

yes, that sounds right. i suppose it depends on where one is staying and whether it's more or less than $200/night. i can use dvc points to stay within walking distance of at least 3 of the 4 non water parks, but paying cash for campgrounds makes more sense, since i can rent my points out for more. campsites are definitely not $200/night, so it works out better in that case.

Planning our 2018 trip for Feb 12-16 which is Mardi Gras week for us here at home. Would much rather be at Disney than home at parades so we try to get out of town for that week. We have stayed at Pop and Coronado Springs in the past. Looks like we will be trying Port Orleans - Riverside this time because we need a room that fits 5. Otherwise, we would just stay at Pop or one of the value resorts.

There are some rooms at CBR that hold 5, and also the cabins at Fort Wilderness. I don't know how they compare pricewise, but you have time to save up, if you want.

Thanks for reminding me about CBR. I think that one may actually be cheaper. Now I get to compare the two to see which one seems better for us since we haven't been to either. I looked for cabins at the Fort Wilderness but all I see are spots to put your own camper or a tent. I do not see anything mentioned about cabins.

I may have confused Wilderness Lodge with the Fort? I am just repeating what my co-worker said, that now that their youngest of 3 is over 3, they can't stay in the Lodge itself, but only the cabins. I'll try to learn more though.

Ok, I understand now. It's definitely the Wilderness Lodge. Our youngest will be 4 when we go in 2018 so we can't do a 4 person room like we have done in the past. I think my two cheapest options are Caribbean Beach or Port Orleans - Riverside.
