Disney’s MARVELous Super Hero - New You - New Year Celebration – January 2017!!

Endurance... makes me think about how I knew I wouldn't be able to do the 12 mile walk last weekend, so I am making it a goal which means steadily increasing the amount of walking I do until I get there. So, pushing myself just beyond what is comfortable and also sticking to the plan. And sometimes endurance is about continuing to plod thru the heavy crappy stuff, so not necessarily going further or longer, just keeping going period.

I am totally mesmerized by my new phone screen saver... in addition to not being cracked it doesn't have any scratches so the screen is so crisp and clean. Feels like a totally new phone, although I am still considering upgrading to a 7+. Started a couple more hats for the women's march this weekend, for some of the gals I'll be walking with. Last time I saw a count it was 60,000 hats for the WDC march and that was over a week ago... they are currently pushing for 1 million: can't wait to see pictures. They've been kind of controversial here for the Seattle march, so I'm curious to see how many there will be. Actually there have been many things that have turned controversial, with the latest being the call to have it be a silent march.

Not a lot on the agenda for today, hopefully it will be a calm peaceful one of r all.

Hey friends! Just want to pop on and say I haven't forgotten you all! I was home yesterday, thanks to 7 inches of snow, but buckled down and got a bunch of stuff done around the house, including repainting part of the kitchen.... so DIS time was at a minimum. And today I thought I'd have time to do some replies and answer the QOTD while I am proctoring standardized testing here at school, but the DIS has been acting wonky on the Chromebooks we use and it kept going unresponsive, so I've given up on any big posts for now.

Gotta ask..... anyone here familiar with MUD HUSTLER? He's an Instagram phenomenon, part of the WW family/world. He posts the most amazing looking treat made with Quest protein powder and Kodiak protein pancake mix, among other things. I'm not one much for things that appear to be "franken-foods" but gave a try to his Big A** Waffles with some prodding from DD and may I say they were terrific!! Can't wait to try them again. Also made his "bird balls"..... basically just a lowfat chicken/turkey meatball.... rather plain, but he uses them for subs, sandwiches, pizza toppings, everything. They are HUGE meatballs and very filling for just 2 SmartPoints each. I made a batch to try and we all loved them [DD, DH, and I] (I made a light "cream" sauce to top them) so we made a triple batch last night. We made part as "original" bird balls, some as cajun spiced bird balls, some as italian seasoned bird balls, and then the last portion I made them "veggie loaded" bird balls with chopped mushrooms and spinach. The only other thing we added to ALL of them was finely chopped onion. We all like onion and felt like the balls could use some moisture.

I had two for lunch today.... one of my veggie loaded and one original and topped them both with salsa. Lots of protein, pretty filling since they are really big, and yummy! I just wish I had used more salsa on top. I know that protein is an area where I struggle, so it is nice to find a delicious LIGHT meal with lots of protein! Check him out on Instagram if you are interested. I know he has a big presence on WW Connect as well, so check him out there if you are a WW. I'll share the recipe if anyone is interested.

Anyhow, I told DD to pick out a few of his treat recipes and we would buy the ingredients this weekend. If they come out good I'm hoping to freeze some for her to take back to school. Halo Top is a great treat, but SUPER expensive to have more than once or twice a week.

Well.... it looks like the DIS held on for now, but I won't press my luck. I'll say good-bye for now and try to catch up when I get home tonight (I have a WW meeting tonight but no 24/7 shift) or after school tomorrow..............P

Woohoos from yesterday

9 year old slept in so the fact that I didn't get to bed till almost 3 AM didn't matter as much
I got oranges and strawberries cut for my fruit infused water and it is delightful
Got the truck cleaned out with 11 year old and DH's help plus got DH to dig the part of the center seat belt that had gotten pushed under back where it belongs.
Managed to do 18.5 laps in 11 minutes.

QOTD
Endurance to me means putting up with things and not giving up which some days can be difficult especially when my body says absolutely not to my wanting to do more resulting in days where I end up doing nothing because the pain of just moving to the toilet is almost too much. I have found I have more endurance if I consistantly do a little bit each day.

I'm familiar with him from the WW Ap community board, but just added him to IG. I'm also not fan of fake/altered food, but I do already have the Kodiak pancake mix and have been thinking I'd like waffles better than pancakes... the bird balls sound good, and it's going to take me a while to get to veggie eating, so I might give them a try. Thanks!

I got up and walked across the room to silence it and then promptly returned to bed. I didn't even really sleep in that extra hour, just dozed. So for those of you who get up early to workout (or just get up early in general) what are your tricks and tips? How do I make my brain realize that I need to get up in order to get exercise in?

When I wanted to get up earlier to start paddling last year .... I also did it gradually like @Flossbolna suggests ... it took me about 2 weeks to get to the point where I could get up and feel human and ready to go. Of course there are always days that are harder than others to actually get up ... but once I persevered through with splashing water on my face, having a cold drink of water, brushing teeth, getting dressed I was mostly ready to go.

Off Topic but .... thinking of you today @4Mickeys - Will and Grace officially announced a return for a 10 episode run later this year!!!!!!! WOOHOO Thursday!!!

Also :bday: I think -- that time change thing can be confusing! LOL

QOTD: Tell us what endurance means for you... what is your current level like, how does this affect your daily life, how does it affect exercising, how have you improved it if you have already done so, if not how do you think you can improve yours?
A big question I know.

Gosh, my endurance level is soooo low.... I mean I can get up the stairs to where I live (4 stories up) with a minimal amount of huffing (on the rare occasion that I am not taking the elevator-- usually when I am trying to avoid someone at the main door LOL), but that does not qualify as endurance for me. Now that I am going to full body workout fitness classes, I can see how far I have to go. I use lower than recommended weights and still can't move for days after a class. I'm always the last one to finish reps or sets or whatever on the rowers. Etc. Etc. It's not a nice feeling, but for the most part I've adopted an "I don't really care what my pace is" mentality. I think I will know I have improved once I am able to complete class and not be so sore that I can actually pick up the cat or hug my husband the next day without groaning in pain Hahaha! (Y'all I am not even exaggerating -- and I am not a gym rat and refuse to "go hard" and "dig deeper" and all that gym stuff-- nope, that is not me. This is just how out of shape I am!!!)

What I can do to improve is go more often and just power through. It's a mental game of keeping myself going. That is another type of endurance I am looking to cultivate! The mental endurance to go workout and eat right is just as important! I usually stink at that part, but this month I have been pretty good. I am proud of that aspect. I just hope to maintain that mental endurance to keep pushing me through the next months!

That sounds awesome! I am going to have to look that up and try it. Thanks for sharing!

I hear ya, @Oneanne -- I think I'm more of a waffle than pancake person. I've been thinking that too ever since I got on the kodiak cake kick.

Got my 11 minutes in but no idea on the number of laps since I did them in the church foyer area while 11 year old was finishing up with JBQ practice. I over did it today deciding to move the couch, chair, and video cabinet turned end table in order to clean under and behind them. I know remember why that cleaning is only done once if I am lucky twice a year. 9 year old is getting stuff out of one of her craft boxes but never wants to do it besides I have a globe puzzle in sections right now that needs to be finished. I am telling myself 4 hours to keep her out of trouble till we are on the road to go pick up DH from work and then it's home and everyone to bed. He gets to deal with her for that tonight or is it tomorrow since it will be after midnight. Such is the wacky world of the night shift. Right now DH is working just regular shifts so it is 4:30 PM till 1 AM the next day with his meal break so it is at least 2 AM by the time we get a load of water stop by the store if we have to pick up any last minute or need to be replaced items and get home and get at least the girls and myself to bed.

Hey all! I thought I had hit "quote" on the past few QOTD that I missed, but they aren't appearing here. NBD...... I didn't have anything terribly worthwhile to say in response anyhow!:rolleyes1

But I do want to do a belated HAPPY BIRTHDAY wish to our hostess this month @4Mickeys!!! :bday:

Also.... a belated WOOHOO Wednesday..... I hit a new personal RECORD HIGH meeting attendance last night and MATCHED my personal record high for Tuesday's meeting!! I am beyond excited to see this program that I really LOVE and truly believe in get a much-needed revitalization! Not sure if it is Oprah's involvement, the (newer) SmartPoints plan, or a better advertising blitz, but I am delighted!

Gotta dash to work! TTYL............P

Or maybe it is also word of mouth that those are meetings with a wonderful WW-Leader! If I would live in your area, I would love to go to your meetings!

@4Mickeys The time difference totally confused me and I am so sorry if I missed your birthday!! Wishing you a very happy one still! I hope you had an amazing day with your kids! I love the idea of doing something special with your family for the day!

Last night I did make it to the rec. The eye doctor had a cancellation so we were able to get in earlier. I got my 10,000 steps in. The first in a few days to a week. I did n't go fast on the treadmill as I am afraid my ankle will get bad again but I went 2.5 for 45 minutes. I have been watching Fuller House on Netflix as I workout and last night it was a good episode but it was the last. I have now started to watch "How to get Away with Murder". I only got about 20 minutes into the first episode and I am hooked. Should be fun working out for awhile. I think I will be completely lost in the show to realize how long I have been going. I did this last night. I hit my 10,000 steps and then did the cool down. Every so many minutes the treadmill slows down. It takes about 5 minutes. I almost fell when it stopped because I was not expecting it. If I had the time last night I would have stayed on the treadmill until the episode was over.

Thanks for the tips, everyone! I got up earlier this morning. I wasn't up and going as early as I need to be to get a solid workout in but progress is progress and I'll take it. I'm going to check in today as well. I lost 2 lbs this week which puts me at 125% to goal. Pretty miraculous considering how I ended last week but I'm not gonna complain about it :). Happy belated birthday @4Mickeys ! I hope everyone has a fantabulous Friday!!

Just wanted to wish @4Mickeys the happiest of belated birthdays!!!!

I'm still here, hanging in by a thread. My cold is significantly worse with fever and super attractive chest cough. I still don't think it is the dreaded flu but I am beginning to wonder. DH has also succumbed so we are basically alternating between couches and bed, watching TV, and moaning and groaning over who has to go find more tissues, make another pot of tea, or walk the dog. I don't think I have ever wished that we had a yard so much as I have the last day or two.

I will try to remember to weigh in tomorrow. At which point I need to be cured. I just can't take this anymore.

Well.... I "liked" this quote, but that just feels wrong! I'm so sorry to hear that you aren't better and now you've got a houseful of sick! That's so sad! Tie a string to the dog's collar and let him out the door just far enough to do his business.... but you stay inside! Vitamin C, honey/vinegar for your throat, maybe some echinacea or zinc, lots of rest, tons of tea, and I'm sending recovery prayers to you!............P

Hey friends - finally have some time to check in and say hello! Hope you're all being "Super" Super Heroes this month :)

Weighed in today and have gained a pound. I recognize this is from fueling and not running - so I have some work ahead of me for the next couple of days. But the rain should clear up tomorrow so I think I'll go out for six miles tomorrow.

Hello Friends,

Thank you all for your wonderful Birthday wishes :D

Sorry I was MIA with a QOTD for Friday! The day started well prezzies from the kids, them realising there were no eggs in the house to make me pancakes ... oops, so we just got ready to head for the boat thinking we would find something breakfast at the wharf .... nope but by this time it was 10.45 so we had ... ice-cream! lol now I read a study a little while ago that said ice-cream for breakfast gives you a brain boost so its all good hahaha. Then onto the boat for 2 hours cruising just off the coast of Mooloolaba - unfortunately all the dolphins were hiding, we did see lots of jellyfish and 2 turtles. But it was a spectatcular day the water was so blue and there was barely an swell in the ocean so it was magical standing on the bow of the boat in prime position. The captain wished me Happy Birthday over the loud speaker thaks to sneaky DS12. We could see the smoke from a nearby bushfire and the helicopters taking off to dump water on it. Had cake at my parents because my Mum is too chicken to come on boats. DS16 got called in for an evening shift - so twins and I had chinese out at a restaurant at the plaza. When heading home things started to take a little turn and this is why I ended up MIA - we could see smoke haze in the sky high up and the sun was an amazing orange looking itself like it was on fire through the haze. Then as we rounded the road to where we head to our suburb there was a thick smoke haze all around - we got home got out of the car and the smell was everywhere and you could feel the smoke in your throat really bad - so we headed straight inside closed up the house and put the fans on - DS12 has had asthma when he was younger so I was a little concerned and we didn't have any ventolin - it is really hot weather wise here right now so it was hot with house closed up! Then DD12 started feeling unwell from the heat I expect so we packed up to head back to the shops to wander around and wait for DS16 stopping at my parents on the way to grab one of Mum's spare ventolins and check on them. It was not as strong at their place. Luckily when we made it home a second time the wind had shifted and the smoke haze had gone and the smell was only minor! Phew but I fell asleep on the couch watching a movie!!! So sorry about that... hope you all have had a wonderful Friday :D

I'm ready for a super Saturday. Since the theme was heroes for the month, I realized two of three costumes for Princess HM Race Weekend next month were missing the capes! Yes - I sewed capes tonight / the running costumes are all done!

Today was a great day for food and exercise. I think seeing the scale go up a bit knocked some motivation back into me. I was under calories today and look forward to getting out and enjoying the sunshine tomorrow!

Completed 15 house laps in 11 minutes today. Tomorrow we are hoping to get to Quality Assurance which both my girls have to take to show at fair this year and oldest has sewing in the afternoon. I see that my 9 year old is up so time to make her think it's her idea to go to bed. We had major tears from her this evening. Her character in her computer game died and that is never a good thing in her eyes.
