2017 Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend

Quick question. DH and I are doing the 5k with my DD7. In the event guide on page 14 it says runner start at 6am, yet on page 15 it says 5:30. Any idea the correct time for start?

Eek I thought it was 6:30am. So I guess I don't know! On the main run disney site it says 6am so I'm going with that.

My magic bands have made it to my state and should be here Monday! My shirt should be here tomorrow and I am nervously excited to see it. This is a great week! Now I just have to decide what kind of Disney mani to get... #pinterest. (And continue running of course, crazy to think we only have 1 long run left before the race.)

mine are hanging out in PA.....called the post office to see what it was doing and they're not sure, but he's hoping they'll get delivered tomorrow because PA is close to MA.....I'm not holding my breath.....

Congrats to all the princess runners for getting their waivers and assignments! Now I'll go back to lurking while I scream at my computer non-stop "show me the Tink medals!!!"
Tink Corrals will be interesting. Last year there were only 6 for the half!

I'll be looking for those Tink medals. If the new ones are there I'll make sure they say hi to you. :)

Playing along:
DH had a 58 minute 10K time and he is in Corral D for the half and I had a 1:03 10K time and I am in corral F.

I also learned at star wars a few weeks ago that for the challenge medal you don't need to hit the times. My DH spent the night before up with a stomach bug before the 10K so we did the 10K in 1:41. I was really scared for our challenge medals as the cut off time for 10K was 1:40. We still received them.
Oh man, I see that! I would go with 6 since it says 6 a few times on the website. And normally the 5Ks start 30ish minutes later than the longer races (exception being the 5K during Tink weekend). That's a pretty big issue in the program to not have the start time consistent. :rolleyes2

For challenge medals people have gotten them as long as they weren't swept, even if they were way over pace. I think this would apply to C2C too. :confused3 Assuming they don't start enforcing the 16:00/mile rule at some point.

Thank you and say hi to the HM shoes again for me! I think that the Light side had a bunch more corrals this year. So I have no idea if Tink will have only 6 corrals again or do it more like lightside with a bunch??? "Trying" to get an A Tink corral (even if it doesn't actually happen) was at least a good carrot to not give up during my proof race. I guess there's nothing I can do but wait.

Ok, so this is super random and hopefully it doesn't let my "crazy" shine too much, but does anyone else try to determine if their bib number has significance? Like past race numbers, significant dates... Etc? For instance all my bibs have had a 5 until this one. My last two races were the same four numbers....just curious :-)

I was placed in the last corral as I wasn't able to submit a time like I thought I was going to be able to. My plan is to finish in less than 2:45, though I know it's going to be busy out on the roads. Will I have time to stop and get pictures with characters along the route? Since I'm in corral P, I'm worried all the lines are going to be too long for characters. I'm not planning on getting pics with all the characters, just ones I'm interested in. Thanks!

You are very brave ordering shoes online! I have to try them on at the store and run around. I have a pair of NB fresh foam and love them. Those are the ones I'm wearing for the 1/2. I have found a love for NB shoes. I used to wear Brooks, but they changed the toe box of their shoes and even the wide width is tight on my foot. I just bought another pair of NB 720 at DSW for $60 and my DH couldn't believe such a cheap shoe would be comfortable for me. I told him just because the shoe is expensive doesn't mean it's better!!!

I have no choice. No one has what I want to try on.

Anything "bigger" than nike frees is just too much shoe for me. The fresh foams I tried were terrible for my feet. Sooooo cute though. And the merrells I now have to return ("mix master glide" or something like that) are trail shoes and are very rigid.

So I'm ordering a variety of altras and one or two other lighter merrells.

I wish I could try them on without spending a bunch but I can't.

Amazon and REI will get a loan of some money of mine this week. I hope something works. The old Nikes are old.

My magic band arrived today. I didn't need one, but I really wanted the new style.

I too have learned my lesson about estimating my finish time during registration. I had selected 2:24-2:30 when I registered. I thought I had selected around 2:15 for a finish time, but I must have clicked the wrong thing during my rush to register. Even though my POT was a 1:05 10K, I was put in corral G (finish time 2:25-2:36) where last year that got me into E.

From an Altra loyalist, former NB loyalist, I have tried many Merrells and have really tried to like them but haven't found anything comfortable. I did have a pair of proterras I wore as knock around as long as I wasn't on my feet more than an hour. I do have a friend that is a barefoot runner and she wore the minimalist merrells on a long walk (road and trail walking) for 500 miles. Good luck on finding something that is good for you.

I'm in N... not amazing but anticipated based off of my cancelled half bib and two terrible PoT races. So i'll probably be roughly around that for tinkerbell too. I can live, but need to speed up for Dopey
I'm in N too! Was hoping for a little higher but I know my PoT race was pretty bad so I'll take it. I'm running solo- so I'll be the one looking confused but excited!

I always like to get repeating numbers. The husband got 41414 for his 5k and I'm jealous! I am 41413 - 13 is my number so I'll take it. The GSC bib is lucky because it is in corral H. And I am relieved.

One time (October 2016 marathon) I used my bib # to try and come up with a time prediction (link):

Non-Scientific Guess
Bib # = 212
Abe Lincoln's Birthday = 2/12
The day John Wilkes Booth planned to attempt his first assassination attempt on Lincoln by kidnapping him at a local play = 3/17/65
Final non-scientific guess = 3:18:05

:D

Edit to add:

I knew I had more on this one (hooray training journal!)

-Daughter B-day - 2/11 (so almost)
-212 minutes was a 3:32 marathon (so not quite goal time)
-Snapple Fact #212 (per @roxymama ): Galapagos turtles can take up to three weeks to digest a meal.
-212 second negative split
-212 pacman ghosts you will chomp
-Wife said 21.2 minutes off PR, but that may be ambitious at 3:07.
-Maybe you'll be 2.12 minutes faster than your goal?
-My favorite 212 meaning comes from some random guy at Yahoo:
"it is also a new york city area code, a brand of perfume, and a model number of a john Deere tractor. are you a sweet smelling farmer from new york?"
-The Boston Marathon winner this year had a time of 2:12 and change. Coincidence? I think not. Connecting the dots... your race numbers implies that you will get to Boston!

So I'm right there with you @TeeterTots. The mystery of the bib # and what it really means!

Mine too!! My hubby was home over lunch and called to tell me "you have a magical package waiting!" party:

First trip to the Physical Therapist today was almost the worst-case scenario! I have a bulging disc in my neck, etc... she said "no running" I think my face might have gone :earseek:we clarified that because I've been running since spring, it's only the 5k, and I promise to do the run-walk intervals... I can do this, but absolutely no longer distances. :cheer2: Oh that was a moment. (she also cleared me for the coasters!!!)

mine are hanging out in PA

Mine are still in Illinois, they may never make it to Alabama. Thanks, USPS.

1/29, Davenport FL. "Picked Up by Shipping Partner, USPS Awaiting Item "

2/1, Glendale Heights, IL. "Departed Shipping Partner Facility, USPS Awaiting Item "

2/3, Las Vegas. "Arrived Shipping Partner Facility, USPS Awaiting Item"

And each time it has said something like "Your item arrived at a shipping partner facility at ..... This does not indicate receipt by the USPS or the actual mailing date."

So it's moving all around the country, but nothing indicates receipt or the mailing date. Um, OK.

Thanks for that!

After trying the NB and the Merrells for a week total I put on my Nike 4 Frees and they were like heaven, LOL. I wish the current Frees fit my feet.

I'm so sorry. That can be really frustrating.

Hey Fellow Runners,

I'm in Corral M for the Glass Slipper Challenge -- what time would you reccomend I arrive if I don't necessarily care about being near the front of the pack at my corral? This is my first race at Disney World, but I've done two at Disneyland. The two that I did at DL, the times were staggered by roughly 5 minutes with each corral, so when I was in I for the Inifinity Gauntlet Challenge in November, I came in around 6:15am with about 5 minutes to spare before we were up. Since I'm anticipating very little sleep during this trip, I'd like to take advantage of whatever opportunities I can to "sleep in" :p
