October 2017 Discount and code watch

I've been a Disney Visa Card holder for years and have received two or three emails regarding room discounts/free dinning promo but that's it.

We are planning a trip to WL with dates of 10/29/17-11/05/17. Hoping for a room only discount!!:-)

I know there are a lot of Disney Savers out there so I just wanted to put my strategy for saving some extra dough out there. This only works if you are able to pay for your Disney Vacation, not really good for those that need to charge it. I setup a Target Red Card debit account which gives me 5% off my purchases. Using this I save $25 per $500 worth of Disney Gift Cards I purchase (this trip will be $5000 worth of cards equaling a savings of $250). I signed up for eBates which gave me a $10 sign up bonus plus gives me 1% cash back on all of my Target purchases (only $4.75 per $500 worth of gift cards, an additional $47.50 back on my $5000 trip). I then put all of those gift cards into the Disney Vacation Account and with their current offer, which expires in December, I will receive $20 worth of Disney Gift Cards for every $1000 I use from that account for my vacation (on $5000 this will be $100 worth of gift cards to use while I am at the parks). In total I will only be saving about $400 but that covers my memory maker, and our MNSSHP tickets, so to me it is worth it. Anyone else have any good tips for saving some extra money on a Disney Vacation?

I will be checking the Disney Visa website regularly hoping for an announcement....an October discount would be nice :flower3:

Anyone else notice it said for travel dates from August 21 and December 23rd (with those blackout dates) and booking will start tomorrow. Is that confirmation that the discounts will be released tomorrow???

Yes. But here's the catch it does NOT list what time they'll be available. Last year they became avail. at 4am online. Year or two ago it became avail. at midnight.

i don't think they ever release when it'll go online. I've heard everything from midnight to 7am when the phone lines open. Last time I booked, I woke up early to check and it was released but I couldn't get anything I wanted. When I called in later, the reservation specialist was able to find me something no problem. I think it's easier to work with a cast member, but then you risk having other people take the reservation you want if they go online. I have a feeling it's going to be a long night tomorrow...

Today is Sunday so the long night has already started. Again no one knows what time Disney will open things up online so many are prepared to stay up all night and into the early hours to score FD.

Well I guess I won't be one of them, since my October dates are nowhere near what the eligible dates are for this free dining offer. Good luck everyone!

I'll hang out and continue to wait for the room only offers.

Those normally get released at the same time. At least they did last year. I thought it odd there was no mention of it in the linked article I posted but I did score RO discount 2016.

Keeping fingers crossed...Would prefer AP RO, but I'd take a general one at this point!

"EDIT: I now always use a TA, especially if we are hoping a discount comes along...I just don't have the time to sit on hold waiting for a Disney Rep to try to change a reservation. She has always been very skilled at getting us what we want. She is GOLD!!!"

So your hoping your TA will score the RO discount? Last year was unbelievable not only fellow DISers were upset but TA's chimed in with their own disappointments.

I hope everyone gets what they're looking for. I fervently believe RO discounts and FD will end seeing how it was first announced to lure people into the parks during slower periods in the first place.

Well, we currently have the resv we wanted, and will consider a special offer as pixie dust. If it doesn't happen, we'll keep what we have...If a nice discount happens, we'll upgrade. Either way, it will be a great trip.

We are in the same boat! Good luck!!

Hi all, joining thread. Doing a split stay at GF/WL 10/25-11/2. Knew FD was never going to happen, so looking for RO. Nothing came up today with new offers so getting a little curious if we'll see anything!

Yeah, I am looking to add a few nights from 10/12-10/14, so I will keep waiting also. I have a reservation I can live with, but a discount would allow me to upgrade!

Booked 10/28-11/1. Going on a trip with my family, my cousin and her little ones. It's both my cousin's and her little ones' first trip. Staying at Poly. REALLY hoping for a RO discount. We're AP holders. FD would have been nice for her, but now we're hoping for some sort of discount. My only thought is that they'll extend through October soon. They had it last year, right?
