June 2017 car rental

Looking for June 27-July 7 and so far, even with codes, I am finding over $500-600. OUCH! Going to have to put some time into finding some better discounts this weekend to at least get something reserved. Really hoping for MUCH better!

I do the Drive Happy deal whenever it's listed as a choice. In November there were a lot of minivans and SUV's in the compact row, early flight. In January there were only four bigger vehicles at the end of the compact row, night flight. We got to choose between a pickup truck, a weird van thing and two midsize SUV's. We took one of the SUV's.
What is the "Drive happy deal?"

Alamo sometimes offers a Drive Happy deal. If you book it you get to pick from anything in the compact aisle. I've seen bigger vehicles there for a compact price. When they offer it, it's usually at the top of the car choices to choose from (above economy) on the website.

Bumping this thread....although I don't think prices are going to come down like they usually do closer to go time :(

Prices for mine have just went up up up! They have more than doubled what we booked at originally. I'm glad I booked early as if they don't drop under what we have, I'll be happy. I would like to see it lower, but if not, our rate isn't horrible.

Before I put in any coupon codes in Alamo I get 2 prices, pay now and pay later. When I add the coupon, I get one choice of "GO". Am I paying now? I think my credit card is in my profile. I am afraid to hit submit, I do not wish to pay now, but it does not say. Anyone know? I am using the coupon code found in this thread AD3868JST, what exactly is this coupon for? I can't find it anywhere.

To answer my own question, I have not been charged for making the above reservation, I still am confused on the only one option when I put in that coupon code instead of the pay now/pay later. But, I have now rebooked it twice and my rate has gone down over $100 in the last couple days.

I book early with Autoslash, and they email me to rebook when the price drops. I just realized that we never got any drops, so we are paying almost twice as much this year as usual! We are renting Jun 30-July 11, preferably full-size but not too picky. Anyone know of a deal we might be overlooking? I've been burned a couple times with companies Sixt and EZ, so we try to stick with the more dependable names.

Rates seem to be coming down, hopefully they go lower.

Just rebooked my late-June 10-day reservation and saved $80. This was on the Costco site.
Old reservation was Alamo, full-size $409. New reservation is with Budget, full-size $330.

Hope this helps someone!

I was able to save $63 by rechecking rates today with Alamo. I am renting for 6 days, standard SUV.

my price is still higher than what I had before and my budget booking is still better but prices are coming to I can stand point

The best rate I'm finding is with Budget June 2-11th for an intermediate (I believe) for $266 with the following codes from BJ's--
Take up to $25 Off Your Rental
Any car class, excluding the specialty vehicles
Any Time Period
BCD Number: V923000
Coupon Code: MUWZ077

Rebooked twice today through Costco...June 10-17 has gone down from 216 to 199 to 176...will keep playing the game...how low can you go?!

Do you have to be a Costco member to use their car rentals?

I was able to decrease my rental to $178 yesterday for june 24-29 thru dollar using city special. I think it was a full size.

My rates have been going up the last few days. We are less than 2 weeks till trip. Minivan was not even an option the last 2 days and today it shows as almost $200 higher than it did just a few days ago.

We just decided three weeks ago to fly for our upcoming June trip and I was dreading what kind of car rental prices I'd get for a 12 day rental (need a minivan for a family of 6). The rates I was originally getting were close to $700 so I was happy to get a rate of $531 through Costco but today I was able to rebook at a rate of $379! It pays to keep checking!
