Roxymama's 5k to Marathon, Time to Collect Another Castle

Moana songs being stuck in my head is a way of life at this point. Wait, Live action B&B goes on sale today???? Ooooohhhhhhhhhh
With the weather you could take the masochist approach and run when it's like in the 80's (so not quite 4am) and then just run slower?? Maybe set up a kiddie sized pool in your front lawn to jump into at the end and call it a duathlon?
But, yeah, Ugh!
It does go on sale today- doesn't it seem like it came out on DVD so quickly?! And now over my lunch break I will be buying B&B, Starbucks (because it's who I am), AND a kiddie pool. ;) Great idea!

Ok so what do I do about it?
Seems lists of goals and then plans are what I thrive on when it comes to motivation, so I guess that's what we gotta do here.

It's 6/6 and my 5k/10k challenge starts 7/15. That's over a month and I gotta get back into running. Since even though I don't have a goal to be particularly fast during these races...I'd also like to not feel like I'm gonna die because I stopped training. So @DopeyBadger Could I trouble you for a 4 day a week plan that's just to get me from here to there with sat/sun back to backs to get me "ready" for it? So I have something to stick to? I'm open to pace suggestions...but since it is summer you can probably bet on at least 2 runs per week being outside and so I don't know that I need to get any faster than what I had been training in my previous plan. Are there any questions you have for me?

Don't beat yourself up over it. Everyone has different buttons to push to get out the door. It'll take some time to get back into the groove of it, but it'll come back. Don't worry.

I think I can come up with something. I've got two other requests in the queue at the moment, so we'll see how quickly I can turn that around for you. But overall, since little changes are happening from the Tink plan it should be relatively simple.

And then I think I want to try running that 9/24 Chicago half marathon after all so trying to figure out a start date for training on that. I think my plan for that (again because summer training will be involved) is to not so much try to speed up my paces too much from Tink, but during my race without the character stops/bathroom breaks/so many walking breaks and all the first-timer stuff that I try to aim for that 2:16-ish "moving" time I managed at Tink and then see what happens from there. With Chicago who knows what Sept weather will provide us come race day or during training or if I make any gains or not. Basically just looking for a "non-disney" race half experience. With our WI 10k being 3 weeks after that I should be in real decent endurance shape to try for that sub 1 hr...how far sub 1 tbd, right? We can totally talk about all that after my July RnR races to reset and see what we are doing from there.

Chicago wise, the goal will be around 2:06 as that is what the fitness thus far has dictated. If you choose to run slower for the actual race, again that's your choice. But optimally that's where we'll have you. I can include a pace adjustment chart based on T+D and you can either choose to use it or not.

How far sub-60 on the 10k? Well, we'll see.....

Can you pick me up a grande caramel machiatto while you are out?

No rush...I've instructed my hubby that he's to tell me to go run on repeat starting at 7pm tonight. So I'll do an easy 3 miles or so no matter what. I think getting one foot out there will help.

And oh man...that grinch is up to something!

I can totally emphasize with the lack of motivation post race. This is why I instruct back to back clinics. My marathon was 2 Sundays ago and I began a 1/2 Clinic gearing up to a September race, if not for that I'm sure I would still be sitting on my butt "recouperating"!

Sometimes you just need a break! Don't feel bad about it. I understand though how you kind of feel a little lost when you're not training for some specific goal. I have found I really like having a plan, even in between my goal races, and I like having someone else tell me what to do (@DopeyBadger :thumbsup2).

Not sure about running Dopey...but if you need someone to babysit the Poly pool or Trader Sam's deck while you are running, then I can provide that service. It will probably miss you terribly.
The way I read this is, "I may not run Dopey this time but I'll come to Disney and run some of the races and take care of Poly while you run the other races." Is this correct?

Which Sept half are you running?

Haha, yeah usually in life I'm like "don't tell me what to do" but with some things I need the guidance or I literally just do nothing.

Haha, well running any Disney races in Jan. this year is 99.9998% out (too many surrounding vacations to justify another one) but in a perfect world I'd just live at the parks.
And yes I left the percentage that way for @ZellyB so that she can still live off the hope of a speck of a chance :)

Well, you know how I feel about decimal places on estimated percentages, so thank you!

I'm pretty sure that fear of the post-run slump is why I'm strongly considering running 8 races in the next 8 months.
(Don't worry, I'm going to get family approval for some of those races, so it will likely end up as (at most) 1-2 races in the next 8 months, but as long as I'm still thinking about the races, I gotta keep running!)

That's me as well. I don't have as many races planned but the ones I do (read: Dopey) are enough to keep me engaged in training.

That was how I was 100% my first year of running. It does get expensive! Yeah...keep running just in case a good race comes up and you'll already be in shape for it...I like that train of thought :)

DO IT!! I'm at one a month since the beginning of this year, and I'm only, currently, missing November between now and next February!!!

Well you gotta get a Nov race then, right? Can't let the streak go!

I'm in Canada, and it's our local Army Run.

Nice! Good luck way in advance.

She didn't say no!

Actual representation of you all for the rest of time until I run at WDW weekend again...

I noticed that too! ::yes::

I mean there's always the slight chance of going insane at some point in my life...I just don't know exactly when that will hit.

Yeah without Tink on the horizon I'm doubtful I would have kicked it into gear until closer to spring when the weather got nicer.

I don't think I've shared this before but about once a week I surprise kiddo with a fun checklist when I pick her up from school. Today's one of those days. It's usually when we've got errands I need to run (like post office, or groceries, or packet pickups, etc and it keeps her focused on not begging to go to the park)
Today it's just fun stuff :)
