Joy to the World: an offsite Christmas extravaganza at Disney, Universal & SeaWorld – Dec. 2016 TR

IB as in Internationale Baccalaureate? If so, wow! I had no idea that that was available outside of Europe. I went to an IB school in the UK 15-20 years ago, which was rare at the time (and still is). The programme was offered alongside A-levels (the more traditional qualification obtained by 18 year olds in the UK) which is what I took but a lot of my friends did the IB.
Yes. GC's school started it at some time in the last 7-8years. There are kids that come from over 100km away to attend this school. It's a pricey program too. The exams cost $1500. There is one boy that was offered an unconditional acceptance from Harvard based on his grade 11 grades. His average is over 100....no idea how that is even possible.

Playing catch up now that school is officially out :dogdance::jumping1: 10 pages to catch up so I have some good summer reading coming my way. Just wanted to say everyone is so sweet on here and can't wait to catch up on your adventures Gina.

Um, wow, wow and wow! We thought the girl who travelled from the next county over (about 15 miles) was travelling a long way. A number of my peers went on to Oxford and Cambridge (both from the IB and A-level population) but all offers were most definitely conditional on results!

I can't imagine commuting that distance every day just for school. I know quite a few adults that do it daily for work but that's different. They choose to live outside the city for the lifestyle it offers their families. They work inside the city for the large paycheck and business opportunities it provides.

I'm probably not so sweet but I'll take a compliment any way I can get it. Thanks :bitelip:

WOW! Thanks for the tour. The resort looks beautiful! I bet you won't have any qualms about staying there again if you can't get into your beloved Vistana!

It was an absolutely lovely resort, and we're so glad we tried it ::yes::. We've now stayed at a Sheraton timeshare, a Marriott timeshare, a Westgate timeshare, a Wyndham timeshare, onsite at Disney, onsite at SeaWorld, as well as having an onsite room at Universal (though we actually slept at our offsite suite.....the room was a throwaway for EP only) so we've come a long way in experiencing a good cross-section of what Orlando has to offer. The Marriott property was the one we suspected would come closest to SVR in amenities and comfort and "feeling", and we were right. I would have no hesitations in staying there on a future trip!

You know those pics of the MGV are KILLING me. The pools are calling my name right now. With this trip to Quebec coming up and the prospect of a Christmas trip a summer vacay is totally off the table. How will I survive?

There were signs there previous to last year about the gators but it was not that specific. It was something along the lines of 'don't feed the wildlife' or 'beware of the wildlife'. Can't remember exactly but they were there and plenty of them.

That pic of the lap pool almost shows the villa we had last time. We were in the last one on the ground floor at the end of the lap pool. I thought is was going to be a problem with pool noise but we never heard a thing. Which was because no one uses the lap pool. We found that late afternoon a few people would get in it just to float around. In the evening there would be the occasional kid in there but it seemed that no one liked being removed from the action in the big pool.

If you ever want to sneak in an extra budget trip, remember you have a friend who can often snag a cheap week via Interval International (that's me, just in case you were wondering exactly who I was referencing there :rotfl:). If you can find affordable flights, I am happy to check the system to see if I can find another $350 week at MGV. And that was for our two bedroom lock-off......I am sure that one bedrooms would be even less, if you didn't mind giving up a bit of space.

I would guess that approx. half the kids don't attend. A very large number of IB students go to schools outside of the country, which is partially why they take the IB program. Also, they don't get final grades until August so they won't hold the ceremony until everyone has officially graduated.

It might be a good thing that half the kids don't come for commencement because the graduating class is over 400 students.

Jake's high school was an IB school as well (has been since 2000, so almost 20 years now), but they still hold their graduations in June. I wonder how they got around the final-grades-in-August thing, then?

When I graduated High School (back in 1979) our commencement wasn't until October and that is still the case in the Toronto schools as my nephew graduated 6 years ago and his commencement was in the fall. I guess it is because some kids go to summer school to complete any missed/failed classes and they don't get their marks until after August. It also gives you a chance to meet up with your former classmates in the fall and see how they are doing now.

I wonder if its a region thing, then? I know ALL high schools in our local board have June graduations.

The lap pool is such an amazing idea! When I'm on vacation, I always find myself rushing to the pool right when it opens in the hope that I can get some laps in before it fills up with kids and floaters (people who float around with sunglasses on because they never put their heads underwater). A lap pool would totally solve that problem. Looks like a beautiful resort!

I thought it was super smart, too. For serious swimmers (those wanting to focus more on exercising than just cooling down and splashing with the kids for fun) its often hard to get a pool work-out in. This sure kept it convenient. And the pool area was so lovely!!

I also went to school in Toronto and actually forgot that we had commencement in the fall. Of my core group of friends (5 of us and we are still close to this day) not one of us attended the ceremony. We attended for another friend the year before and felt that we had been there done that when it was our turn.

Aw, you didn't go to your own graduation? That's so sad! It was the highlight of my secondary school years.....but, I was a bit of a nerd (I'm sure you're shocked :rotfl2:) and knew I would clean up where awards were concerned. I was actually awarded the Governor General's Medal for the highest academic standing in my graduating class, among a few others. School was a tough time socially for me, for the most part (I was certainly not one of the "in" crowd) but I rocked the academics. Graduation was the day for the attention to be pulled from the pretty and popular and put squarely on me, if only for a few hours :teeth:.

Gina - I can't get over how big the resort was! It looks stunning though and very peaceful.

It was a very large resort, but so is SVR, so we didn't find the size daunting at all :thumbsup2. I love the big properties, because they are so nice for long, leisurely, relaxing walks.

Hi Gina! Thanks for great pictures of the Marriott Grande Vista. They brought back some nice memories. I stayed there sometime around 2008-2009 with my family, including my parents who have since passed. We had a wonderful stay, and it was very convenient to our primary destination SeaWorld.

We had a fun visit to Universal this past weekend and will head to the Keys for a week starting next weekend. I'm not sure if it's good or bad that our vacations ended up jammed together this Summer!

I am glad you had a great time at Universal, and finally got to take your much-anticipated trip!! Does that mean you son is healing well?

How were the crowds? Did you enjoy RPR? Did you find the Express Passes were a must at this time of year?

I went to an IB school in Port Orange, Florida. :) We graduated in June, though.

So you were born and raised not far from Orlando? Now I'm super jealous ;). I can't imagine growing up only an hour from Disney!

WOW! I've been gone for a week and missed alot! Congrats on the new job, Gina!! party:

We've been in Orlando and tried out the new attractions! We did the two Pandora rides at Animal Kingdom. Flight of Passage is awesome! We spent a day at Volcano Bay in a cabana- heavenly! We were there on a cloudy, rainy day so the park was pretty empty. The rain was only persistent for about 2 hours- we stayed in the cabana, ate lunch, and relaxed. We were able to do the rides with a minimal wait. The other days we noticed signage that Volcano Bay was closed to capacity. Sometimes some clouds and rain are your friend! And we were by no means washed out by the rain, but blessed with very low crowds! If you guys have any questions about the new stuff, ask away.

Nice pictures of the Grande Vista- we've planned a few stays there, but then plans changes. So, we'll definitely have to try it there sometime!

Thanks Patty!! :goodvibes
I am SO happy to hear such a positive report on Volcano Bay!! Everything has been SO negative so far, and I really do think it will be an awesome park once they kinks are worked out (which is why I'm a tad relieved that we aren't visiting until October). I am so glad that the rainy weather didn't dampen your fun at all....what a great attitude you guys had! Do you have any pics of VB that you would be willing to share? I know I would love to see them, and I'm sure a few others would too!

I'm going to get another update posted today.....thank you so much for your patience!! I have the next week off work before I start my new position at the bank, so hopefully you'll hear lots from me this week :thumbsup2.
Playing catch up now that school is officially out :dogdance::jumping1: 10 pages to catch up so I have some good summer reading coming my way. Just wanted to say everyone is so sweet on here and can't wait to catch up on your adventures Gina.

I do have the best group of readers, don't I? :goodvibes You guys make writing these reports so much fun!

I'm probably not so sweet but I'll take a compliment any way I can get it. Thanks :bitelip:

I think you have a LOT of fans here on my threads :goodvibes ::yes::. You are most definitely the 'popular' crowd while I am most certainly the nerd :rotfl:. It's like high school all over again!! :rotfl2:

I've been abysmal at keeping up with your trip report! I popped in this morning to try and catch up while the house is quiet with coffee in hand. Congrats on the new job Gina!!!!!!:teeth:

His foot is doing well. Thank you! It ached a little the first day but otherwise fine.

The crowds weren't too bad. I think we were just ahead of the Summer rush. It was still nice to have the EPs, because we went on rides we may have otherwise skipped. We liked RPR. The kids really enjoyed the pool, and the location was great! If all things were equal, we would prefer CBBR, but the EPs and location made RPR well worth it on this trip.

Hello Gina,
Loving your trip report- one of the best reads (IMHO) on the DIS and really fantastic pictures. And congratulations on the new job!!!!!:)i.

Ah the Grande Vista! The pics almost make me sad we aren't there in November, but I am excited to see Marriott Cypress Harbour. Now if we could ever snag a Lakeshore Reserve-that may be a resort only vacation :)
And I am off to see if Cypress Harbour has a lap pool-my middle may be able to keep up with her swimming that week a lot easier if it does!

Aw, that is so kind of you to say :goodvibes. Thank you for such sweet words. I know I have been super slow at updates lately, but I want to post quality entries versus 'quick' ones......I'll sacrifice speed for content if need be. I appreciate you reading along. And thank you, too, for the congratulations! I am excited and nervous: it's such a great opportunity ::yes::.

Enjoying your report!

Thank you! :goodvibes

We had all of the Marriott's to choose from for that week before Christmas.....all at the same price......but your feedback on MGV and @dancin Disney style 's positive reviews made us want to give it a try (even over our beloved SVR, as it too was available at the same cost at MGV). I will be interested to hear how you enjoy Cypress Harbour, as it was a very close second (especially considering its proximity to SeaWorld). Please take lots of pictures to share with us!

Tuesday, December 20th (continued) :santa:

By the time the hour rolled around for us to leave for the Beach Club, we were rested and refreshed after our little afternoon siesta and ready for a full evening of fun with friends :hyper:. We had been in text contact with Kerry multiple times already that day, and were saddened to hear that Robert was still feeling under the weather and wouldn’t be joining us for dinner and the Illuminations Cruise :sad1:. We had also been in contact with Carrie (@greenclan67 ) as she and her family were scheduled to join us for the cruise as well, but things weren’t looking so great on that end, either :(: one of Carrie’s girls had also fallen ill since they arrived in Orlando. Winter travel is always particularly dicey…..germs are everywhere and it’s so easy to pick up a cold or the flu. Each time we vacation during the Christmas season we pack a doctor’s kit of every cure we might need [to be ready for any ailment which might befall us], say a prayer, and hope for the best. When you combine being in close contact with literally thousands of people with a huge change in temperatures (for those of us that travel from a cold climate to the warm south) the chance of one of us coming down with something is huge.

We left a little early for the Beach Club since we hadn’t been there before. We knew it wasn’t too terribly far away and we had a GPS to help guide us there, but we’re the type of people that would rather be a little bit early than late for the fun. We didn’t want Kerry and David having to wait around for us, and if we happened to arrive before they did, we knew we’d have lots of things to check out to keep us busy. The commute turned out to be surprisingly simple and we made it there without having to do a single U-turn .

15822929_10155345119746416_8028956390872503067_n.jpg

Showing our ADR confirmation to the staff at the security gate, we were given the all-clear by the guard to park in the resort lot. The Beach Club made a great first impression…….with the light posts all wrapped in garland for the Christmas season, it was quite charming in the low light of the late afternoon. As we strolled down the walkway toward the lobby entrance, we remarked on how early it was getting dark……and then realized the shortest day of the year was just a couple of days away.

15873419_10155345135791416_7207014277222231111_n.jpg

We texted Kerry and told her we had successfully arrived, and she texted back to confirm that she and David were officially en route via taxi :drive:. We headed inside to poke around a little and check out the festive décor inside the large lobby while we waited for them to pull up.

15871564_10155345118686416_7723181087105185524_n.jpg

The shining jewel of the Beach Club holiday décor was the stunning carousel made entirely of chocolate. It was the "sweetest" Christmas display we had ever seen! :cutie:

15872019_10155345116381416_5291603485954096906_n.jpg

This thing was just simply jaw-dropping. The detail on the carousel was unbelievable: I can only imagine how much time went into crafting such an amazing piece.

15826062_10155345122586416_3025515214720106118_n.jpg

And the smell! :worship: Heavenly :cloud9:. Of course, I think chocolate should be a food group, so perhaps I’m a bit biased :p.

15780947_10155345122591416_2380370917849404089_n.jpg

The lobby also featured a small Christmas tree, but quite honestly, it paled in comparison to the carousel. I guess maybe they didn’t want a tree that overshadowed their main showpiece? :confused3

15871604_10155345116021416_5268064994054254799_n.jpg

We had just enough time to poke around, ooohhhh and aaaahhhh at the carousel, and take a whole bunch of photos before we got the text that Kerry and David were just pulling up. We hurried out to greet them, and were so happy to see David’s excitement as they hopped out of the car :Pinkbounc. He had stayed at the Beach Club several times as a youngster, as this resort had been a favourite of his grandmother’s (Kerry’s mom). She is sadly no longer healthy enough to travel with them, but it was easy to see that walking through those doors brought some happy memories back to that young man :goodvibes. He quietly repeated his grandmother’s name as we made our way into the lobby. I think it was quite emotional for Kerry…..heck, as a bystander, it was quite emotional for ME ::yes::::yes::.

We meandered around the lobby for a few more minutes, allowing David and Kerry to take in the Christmas decorations as well. Eventually, we made our way outside to begin our walk over to Beaches and Cream.

15871717_10155345135261416_7411581044587858668_n.jpg

The backside of the resort was just as elegant and lovely as the front entry. The poinsettia gardens were lovely and festive. The bright red flowers were such a huge contrast against the soft tones of the building. The blue, white and red combination made it feel both festive and nautical at the same time.

15826064_10155345125291416_7790045148721959056_n.jpg

It was cool to see the lovely beach (in person, for the first time) that ran the length of the Beach and Yacht Club resorts. I honestly had no idea just how close some of these resorts were to each other: the Boardwalk was just a short skip across the water, and the Swan and Dolphin both looked so close it almost felt we could reach out and touch them.

15873410_10155345129206416_7111712962839823419_n.jpg

Seeing the lights of the Boardwalk all coming on as darkness set in, I quietly vowed to myself that we would spend an evening there someday. It looks so charming. If I was going to ever have reason to stay onsite at Disney, I think the Poly and the Boardwalk would be my top two resort picks.

15823156_10155345115556416_7305846499173857991_n.jpg

I was also quite excited to finally see the much-talked-about Stormalong Bay: so many Disboard posters have raved about this pool over the years, I was very interested to see it for myself in person.

15894604_10155345119126416_6622313431229037111_n.jpg

I have to admit…..while it was a nice pool area (and very sprawling), I wasn’t as knocked off my feet as I had expected. I’m not sure why . Maybe I had just glamorized it in my head to be more than it was, based on the gushing reviews from the people who have stayed there. Maybe it’s more impressive in the full light of the Florida afternoon sun. Maybe it just lacked the lush, tropical feel that I enjoy most (it didn’t have nearly enough palms and trees and vegetation around it for my liking). Or, maybe it was just too geared to kids [perhaps my grownupness was showing :o]. It looked like fun, but it wasn’t my style. I did like the lighthouse and appreciated the theming, though :sail:.

15781435_10155345123686416_4914110122616931129_n.jpg

By the time we toured the pool area, we were due to check in for our dinner reservation. Poor David was starting to get super hungry by then (his poor tummy was rumbling for a burger….or two…..or three!) and quite honestly, both Steve and I were starting to feel rather peckish as well. Our breakfast at IHOP earlier that morning felt like it was a LONG time passed by then, and we were ready for our hearty meal at this cute little diner.

15826398_10155345115581416_2055425526561267163_n.jpg

Unfortunately for our hungry stomachs, we had quite a bit of a wait before they finally had a booth available that could accommodate us. Peeking into the windows, I was astounded to see just how small the restaurant is: we knew from our research here on the Disboards that Beaches and Cream was pretty little, but it was even tinier than we had envisioned . No wonder it’s so difficult to get a reservation there!!

15823257_10155345120391416_6117543144923396140_n.jpg

On the positive side, though: we had the most amazing “entertainment” as we sat at one of the small outdoor tables, waiting for our pager to buzz: with the Stormalong Bay lighthouse in the foreground against the inky black sky, we enjoyed an absolutely perfect view of the fireworks from what we were told was the Jingle Bell, Jingle Bam Holiday Party at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

15873197_10155345120551416_4340341132233421269_n.jpg

15826408_10155345119246416_5107637737905203542_n.jpg

While we sat wide-eyed watching the fireworks and marveling at superb timing, I got the text from Carrie (@greenclan67 ) confirming that her daughter was no better and that they would have to take a pass on the Illuminations Cruise . I felt terrible for them, because I knew Carrie was disappointed (as I undoubtably would have been in her shoes). Our original party of 9 (Kerry, Robert, David, Steve, myself, Carrie, Derek, Alyssa and Rheanne) had now shrunk to a teeny group of only 4. There would be lots of room for us to stretch out on the pontoon boat that seats 10!

Just a few minutes after the fireworks show had concluded, our pager finally buzzed to signal that our table was waiting: it was chow time!

More to come!

David, who was so famished he was ready to start gnawing on a palm tree, literally danced his way into the restaurant :dogdance:. He was SO ready for dinner!!

We squeezed into our booth….Steve and I on one side of the table, with Kerry and David on the other….. and I tried to peruse the menu, but it was a tough job: I wanted to gawk at the inside of the little restaurant and take in all the little fun details. It was super cute and crazy “cozy”. Very colourful and fun.

15894717_10155345138596416_7546279418490457912_n.jpg

They had the most adorable decorated wreaths along each wall that were so pretty, all lit up in tiny white lights and each adorned with a different ornament theme. Each wreath was in a non-traditional colour that fit with the beachy decor but still somehow felt so festive and Christmassy.

This is going to sound SO bad, but I can hardly remember what we all chose for our entrees :o. Can I say that we ladies were more focused on the dessert options to come while the guys had a one-track mind for burgers?

15826027_10155345122156416_8187778872038943303_n.jpg

This ^^ was Steve’s entrée……that I am sure of ::yes::. I don’t eat cheese on my burger, and I know I chose fruit over fries. I am pretty sure I opted for the chicken burger after careful consideration. I do remember that my fruit was super, super fresh even though it was the beginning of winter :thumbsup2. Steve said his burger was good; not exceptional in any way but perfectly acceptable. Kerry had a grilled cheese and tomato soup. David, of course, had hamburgers: three (maybe 4? :scratchin), by the time dinner concluded, if I remember right :rotfl:. How he keeps so slim is a mystery to this girl :confused3. Oh, how I wish I possessed even a smidgen of his metabolism.

Dessert was what Kerry and I had been SO looking forward to, and it was painful to choose what to have once our entrees were finished and our plates cleared from the table by our server. The No Way Jose looked spectacular in the menu photos (and Kerry and are both peanut butter lovers......Steve, not so much), but we were all feeling grander than just a single sundae ;). It was vacation, and if you’re gonna go, you might as well go big, right? :rolleyes1

15822867_10155345122126416_8848394578843749784_n.jpg

Yep. This happened .

Kerry had worked hard to make this special night a reality….she secured the Beaches & Cream reservation for us all (a seemingly impossible task….those ADR’s are tough to get!! :crazy2:) and she booked and paid for the Illuminations Cruise as a generous and incredible gift for us all to enjoy. Steve and I thought the least we could do, then, was pick up the tab for dinner…..and to show our appreciation for all of her kindness, we topped the meal off with the Chocolate Lovers Kitchen Sink .

http://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2015/...ate-lovers-kitchen-sink-at-beaches-and-cream/

This massive monster of a dessert featured eight scoops of ice cream (chocolate, cookies and cream, and vanilla), brownies, milky way bars, Oreo cookies, chocolate sauce, chocolate chips, chocolate sprinkles, chocolate shavings, and a whole can of whipped cream. I would like to say the photo conveys the incredible deliciousness of this beautiful creation but sadly, it doesn’t even come close……nor does it show just how heavy, rich, sweet and BIG it is . While David opted for another burger over partaking in the kitchen sink (he’s not a big lover of sweets), the remaining three of us did our best to reach the bottom but it was just SO. MUCH. FOOD :faint:. I’m not sure five hungry adults could ever manage to finish one entirely, so surely our trio of well-intentioned persons could not. I don’t think I’ve ever been closer to a sugar coma in my life.

The presentation was super fun (the lights were dimmed as it was brought out from the kitchen, and our server made a loud announcement to the restaurant), the taste was amazing (everything from the ice cream to the toppings was superb in quality), and I honestly think we would have regretted not having the experience if we had have gone with individual desserts. We didn't think that it was too crazy priced at $29.99, given that the single (?) serve No Way Jose was $9. The individual sundaes were cute, but this had a wow and fun factor worth $30 alone ::yes::.

We rolled out of the restaurant. OMG, we were so full I thought for a few fleeting moments that I might actually die of gluttony . I was so happy we had skipped a mid-day meal.

We dragged our bloated bodies over to the Yacht and Beach Club docks to check in for our Illuminations Cruise.....

15894712_10155345117896416_1461905942648186872_n.jpg

.....and was told by our captain that we had a little bit of time before boarding. She encouraged us to walk around a bit and return in 30-45 minutes. Heaven knew we could use a walk to help mitigate that ridiculously full feeling that was getting worse by the minute. It was like the ice cream was expanding in our stomachs as it settled.

The walk turned out to be exactly what we all needed :thumbsup2. David had a chance to dance off some more of his adorable, boundless energy as we strolled along under that spectacular night sky, and us adults worked ourselves in to a much more comfortable state of fullness. It was a very pleasant evening for late December…..cool, but not cold……so we were all very comfy in our sweaters: except David, who adamantly stated “No coat. No coat!”.

We made a quick stop at the rest rooms……there were no washrooms on the boat, and we’d all had a lot of soda to drink with dinner…..then headed to meet our captain. She was waiting to welcome us aboard when we returned to the dock, and we all found a spot to get comfy. Some of us got REALLY comfy :

Okay, so maybe Steve wasn’t quite recovered yet from the Kitchen Sink :lmao:.

Our amazing Illuminations Cruise :boat:, and the end of this magical day, is next.

Just catching up, I was looking forward to this bit. The kitchen sink is good fun to share, but there's way too much for 4. Ours looked a slushy mess at the end! I love the Yacht and beach club area, we were there New Years Eve and had so much fun :cool1:

Jake's high school was an IB school as well (has been since 2000, so almost 20 years now), but they still hold their graduations in June. I wonder how they got around the final-grades-in-August thing, then?
I would guess that they just go ahead without final grades. It's highly unlikely that an IB student won't graduate. They eat sleep and breath A's.

I wonder if its a region thing, then? I know ALL high schools in our local board have June graduations.

Again, just a guess but the schools in your homeland are probably much smaller than our city schools so they can get grades in sooner. Final report cards don't even get mailed out here until mid July at the earliest. GC's school has 2500 students.

Nope, no graduation for me and my besties. I still don't care that I missed it. Will have to ask my friends if anyone regrets it but I think the answer there is going to be no. I know I got some award for my grades but since I didn't go collect it I don't even remember what it was. I found school to be super boring and I skipped a lot of classes. LOL....I have one of my grade 11 report cards, I skipped 70 some classes that year and still made the honour roll. I was certainly not in the 'in crowd' but I had a huge circle of close friends and we had a GREAT time. The school was very preppy and snotty, which we were not, we were the party crew. The 'in crowd' were the alligator shirt , sock matching, sperry boat shoe wearing snobs.

My favourite nerdy word for your awards......Kudos (and then you snap two times)

There is nothing I love more than Disney at Christmas time!!! Ok..well sure there is.. but it's way up there.
Your pictures are fabulous and have me itching to go back for the holidays. Maybe in 2018. Two trips for 2017 is the limit.
Our May trip to Universal was fabulous, thanks for asking! We had a nice relaxing time and Cabana Bay was great as always. We had a great time at Aquatica once again too :). We got home weeks ago and I'm only two months away from our next trip! I've completely slacked on the planning of anything though. We added people recently .. my brother and his lovely girlfriend are coming, and my dd is bringing her boyfriend too (he was so excited to be asked to come along.. it was adorable).

We planned on renting a three bedroom unit at Reunion off SkyAuction, but the day I went to book, the date we needed had been removed from the offer. We waited too long on that one. So I've spent the last week absolutely pouring over options for our larger party.
I landed on Wyndham Cypress Palms. The price is right (two units at $350 a piece) and reviews are good. Your extensive review from your last trip report helped a lot. I used the Buy It Now option on Friday, and haven't been charged or heard back yet. So I am waiting not so patiently for that to be firmed up. If for some reason this option is also a bust, I will book one of the Windsor Hills condos or townhouses that I have short listed. We are covering accommodations for everyone, and these are the options that fit the budget.

So that's my trip planning saga.. now back to your regularly scheduled trip report:sunny:.

I was astounded to see just how small the restaurant is: we knew from our research here on the Disboards that Beaches and Cream was pretty little, but it was even tinier than we had envisioned . No wonder it’s so difficult to get a reservation there!!

It surprised me too the first time I saw it!

It does sound totally worth it! One day when we have more people with us I hope to try it.

So now you've killed me yet again. I LOVE the BC. It's the one resort that I really want to stay at very badly. The price is just stupid so it's probably never going to happen. I won't even consider a night or two that won't cut it for me. I want at least a week.

So there is Kerry, Carrie and Carey.....how can that be possible? I've only known one other in my entire life. It's a Carey convention.....Club Carey.....Careypaloozza

I think chocolate should be a food group, so perhaps I’m a bit biased :p

This massive monster of a dessert featured eight scoops of ice cream (chocolate, cookies and cream, and vanilla), brownies, milky way bars, Oreo cookies, chocolate sauce, chocolate chips, chocolate sprinkles, chocolate shavings, and a whole can of whipped cream.

I think based upon that dessert, chocolate is most definitely a food group!!!

And OMG, the Beach Club is beautiful. Some day, when I'm rich and have pockets full of money, we might be able to stay there. :sad2::sad2:
