Le Cellier - is the food really Canadian?

DH and I are planning a dinner at Le Cellier. Disney's website says the food is inspired by the Canadian provinces, but we wonder are they sourcing the food from Canada as well? For example is the Brie from Quebec or the beef from Alberta or the the seafood from the maritime? We are both Canadian and I'd hate to go in expecting Quebec Brie and Alberta beef and it's not.

I know the steak is from Canada and tasted really good. Not sure about the other items.

The steak in my opinion is meh, whether if its authentically Canadian or not. Its decent enough, but I was a bit disappointed to be honest. I had a far better steak at Artist Point, Cali Grill, for example. And the poutine isnt the typical canadian poutine at all. They put their own twist to it. Just so you know. :)

they do have Canadian beer... as for whether the food is actually from Canada, some of it may be, but certainly not all. It is probably not advisable to go in expecting exactly what you'd get in Canada.

LeCellier is one of our favorites. We love a good steak here in Iowa and find the steaks at LeCellier to be really good.

I like the Canadian beer cheese soup and of course the Beer- Labatts!!

My guess would be no. In general most of the food in all the various pavilions is Americanized in some way. With that said, I doubt that WDW is going to go to the hassle and expense of trying to get food from each specific country when it's easier and less expensive to get the same ingredients from their regular suppliers to create a pseudo-authentic meal.

Pseudo-authentic meals?

That sounds like alternative facts. LOL!

I think a number of pavilions use several imported ingredients.
Via Napoli's menu says they use imported flour and tomatoes..but a homemade mozzarella on their pizza. Although they had a more expensive, imported mozzarella available.

Some things are sourced from Canada, some not. Some recipes are close-to-Canadian, others are not. :)

We've found everything there tasty and enjoyed it. As someone from Montreal, I've decided not to re-try the poutine (too different for me!), but I do enjoy the ice wine and laugh every time at the giant bottles of "La Maudite" beer. :)

The awesome Unibroue beer and Alberta beef Filet are most definitely authentic (as in, from Canada).

Le Cellier has gotten mixed reviews for the past couple years it seems but I love it, had a fantastic meal there last month ( also the signature poutine, while not a typical Quebec style poutine with brown gravy and cheese curds, is phenomenal and they do use belgian style frites which is authentic rather than American style fries).

I don't know whether the steak is from Alberta etc.
Is the Brie in France (Epcot) French?
I, as a british person, am not even sure the recipes in the UK pavilion have all strictly come from the UK, never mind the ingredients, but it's part of the fun seeing what Disney thinks a good representation is...

Dear Canada,

I am sorry, but if that's your steak you should hang your head in shame. There's a joint near me that does a $16 Steak Special.... it's dramatically better than LeCellier!
I don't agree at all. I thought my steak was amazing, perfectly cooked and I've eaten at many fine dining experiences. My boyfriend also thought his was perfectly cooked and his is a big steak eater. Maybe you had a bad night.

I've never had a bad meal at Le Cellier. I think their steak is fantastic. I've always heard it was Canadian beef. The Steak there was better than Charlie's where you pick your own cut etc...Not a big fan of the poutine but I'm not big on french fries anyway.

To answer your original question, I don't know. I've been to Montreal, Quebec and Toronto. I don't think 1 steakhouse can accurately reflect Canadian cuisine. I've seen maple syrup being rolled in ice, real poutine, a Canadian cabin meal with ham, sausage, corn cakes drizzled in syrup, Native-Canadian food featuring vegetable soup, wild rice and a bison burger. So in the end, I don't know if it matters whether they source it from Canada because it's mainly steak and some poutine. You'll find more authentic Canadian stuff from the gift shop like those hard maple candies (delish!)

I'm nuts about sauce and I love the filet with the sauce. Both DH and I rate it as our favourite steak ever, even compared to several fine dining steakhouses we have eaten at. But we're not too fancy in food tastes so ymmv.

I too had a not-so-great steak at Le Cellier. Very disappointing. Having said that, i think if the OP is curious and wants to try out the restaurant, I think she should go for it. We all have different opinions and taste.
