Official 2017 HHN-27 Thread

I'm really looking forward to the AHS anthology. I think Asylum makes for an excellent house. Last years anthology was outstanding, really well done and faithful to the series.

All four originals have me excited. I mean they built a flipping boat as part of a set! The pictures from USA Today are stunning in their atmosphere and detail.

I am happy to see The Shinng at HHN, but I am skeptical re them being able to pull off some of the more iconic scenes. We will see.

Regardless Universal usually hits it out of the park with the houses. For every average house there are a host of "holy $#*& that was awesome" mazes.

As for the scarezones ... best lineup on paper anyway ever. So happy they have a traditional theme in CP ... Trick R Treat looks lit.

My only other wish was to see Diagon Alley at night. I always travel in October, and have always been at UOR during HHN, missing out on nighttime views of DA. How long is this area/Gringotts open? If it's the entire night, I'll visit later on in the event. If not, I'd like to make sure I get to it before park close, even if I have to sacrifice a house or two.

Thanks in advance!

It's open all night as Gringotts is one of the six open rides.

I went for a stroll last year to get out of the crowds for a bit.

Was darn near deserted.

I'm probably most excited for the AHS house. I was afraid it would be disappointing last year, but it ended being my favorite. I'm pretty excited for all the IP houses though except Saw (I was never really a fan of those movies).
As for the original houses I'm most excited for the Fallen one and the Hive one. In the preview clip I thought Dead Waters looked a bit cheesy, but I could be wrong. All the original houses sound pretty good too.
The scare zone I'm most excited for is Invasion, and least excited for is probably The Purge because I didn't really like those movies. But again other than The Purge all the scare zones sound pretty cool.

Finally watched Trick R Treat tonight after work and that was such a fun movie! It's one that I passed over on Netflix for a long time, always tempted to watch but I'd always choose something else to watch. I'm excited to see how they bring this scarezone to life now.

I've seen some people mention it, but I figured this would be the place to ask:

Does anyone know how the crowds would be on opening weekend? Saturdays are supposedly more crowded than Fri/Sun. September is less crowded than October. Does that mean Friday and Sunday of opening weekend would be great, or is opening weekend crowded just because its the start of the event?

Last year was the opposite...Friday night was slammed but Saturday night was very manageable.

We've thought the last few years opening nights have just got busier ever year.

We did see queues of over 90 minutes on selected houses last year, from memory AHS was one of them. We didn't notice that much difference from Fridays and Saturdays early on in the event. Friday was probably slightly more manic.

We always have EP and are always glad of it.

DD and me will be in the parks all day before doing a HHN. Do you know if it's possible to stay in IOA untill the begining of the event then come back for the HHN through Hogwart Express?

I don't think HE runs after 5PM when the Studios close...I didn't really pay attention last year but I'm pretty sure that plan is a no.

Heavy security/metal detectors for HHN. Doubtful they'd want to staff another entrance.

Last year we went the 1st three nights (Fri-Sun opening weekend). I agree with Shumigirl, Fri/Sat were very busy. Felt much busier than previous years when we've gone in early October or just after Halloween. However, the Sunday night of opening weekend was much lighter, though that was probably partly due to rainy weather.

Thanks for your answers Metro West and keishashadow, I didn't think about security and metal detectors.

I might be super behind because I was caught up with all this hurricane stuff. (We canceled our full trip but are still going next weekend for HHN). But did they release sign ups for the AP holding areas yet?

Nope, probably waiting to see what happens with Irma. Last year they released info on 9/6.

So this is our first year going to HHN. Other than the scare zones and houses, are there any extra things we should know about? Do they serve any specialty drinks, alcoholic or non? Special foods? Different vendors? Are all of the rides still operating?

Only 5 or 6 rides are operating during the event...not all. There are plenty of alcoholic beverages at the drink stands and the food vendors have some wonderful treats...they are usually around the NY area but your nose will guide you.

Is anybody freaking out about Irma? I don't go until 10/6, and I'M freaking about Irma. Also stressing that other hurricanes will follow her lead. )-; We missed Matthew by a hair last year.

I'm not worried about Irma as it pertains to my trip, but I am worried about this hurricane season in general. I've heard more than a few people say it's reminiscent of the 2004 hurricanes, which is scary! I'll be keeping all the locals in my prayers!
