Hurricane Irma?

We're staying at the comfort inn at lake buena vista who have decided that today and tomorrow they are not going to serve food. Everywhere else is going to be closed so not sure what we are going to do for food.

First time in a hurricane situation so at a loss what to do

It's a little late, but you need to stock your room with water, non perishable food, etc. You didn't hit the grocery or convenience stores already??? I would expect that ALL of the local news outlets were full of advice on how to prepare all week... are any stores still open?

Did they not warn you to stock up? Even guests in resort hotels have been stockpiling water and food.

Where have you been while everyone has been told to prepare, prepare, prepare - or leave?? Sort of late now, to try, but you'll have to do what you can and hunker down. Tap water is safe, for now, not sure about how you'll find food.

I went out and stocked up on drink and chips, sweets ect to carry us through but it wasn't until this morning that Comfort inn decided to cancel breakfasts for the next two days when they said they weren't planning too.

I'm glad I went out and got some bits, seems most others here have nothing.

In a natural disaster, especially an unprecedented one, no one owes anyone anything and promises can be broken. Raid those vending machines and fill up your bath tub. Don't ever assume anything when it comes to life or death situations.

I think that was the opposite of the point, though. She says "he kept saying 'I never thought I'd have to say this but...'" He only finally broke down and told tourists to leave because until that point, he thought tourists would figure out on their own that they didn't need to be there.
That's a strained interpretation.

One thing for people there to keep in mind -- it's not just Disney that closes. EVERYTHING in Orlando closes. Last year, after Matthew passed, there were all sorts of people who thought restaurants, grocery stores, etc. would immediately reopen. They didn't. That's why stocking up in advance is so important.

Sending best wishes to all. We're hundreds of miles away on the coast of South Carolina and will still get wind guests, heavy rain, etc. here tomorrow.

To the poster that wanted to know when the panicking started....that would be when this beast comes through Orlando and the aftermath. If you were experiencing what the Keys were experiencing now, you would be panicking.
The squall hasn't materialized. I just got off the phone with a family member who was on one of his daily walks. He went back to the house to get his umbrella because there wasn't any wind. We talked for like 30 minutes, and the $10 umbrella (his words) was just fine. He lives 4 miles from the parks, and also remarked that someone in the neighborhood was unloading groceries, although not sure from where. I hope everyone stays safe, as of now it's only raining.
Lol, the hurricane hasn't even made landfall on the mainland yet...you'll see your "squalls" in about 8 hours or so. The 10$ umbrella will be somewhere over the coast by then....

You needed to get your own supplies, it's not up to the hotel to feed you, they're probably exceptionally short-staffed. I think the only places open right now are gas stations, go and get as much as you can, as quickly as you can - like, enough for 2-3 days. Literally everywhere else around here is closed.

Our SW flight into MCO on Tues was canceled. (traveling from DC). Considered changing my flight into ATL on Tue and renting a car and driving the 6 hours, but I'm concerned that flight will be canceled as well. I could get a flight on Frontier for Thur but that will cut our trip by 2 days unless DVC has available rooms to extend or stay which is going to be very doubtful. Not to mention our annual passes run out on the 19th. :/ Southwest is telling me they *may reinstate the Tuesday flights so it's best to not cancel my flight yet. I can't seem to get a clear idea and how badly Atlanta is getting hit.... anyone know? Also.. how bad is it driving through a tropical storm? LOL! TIA! April

It does strike me to wonder, why is it so far, only Southwest that's cancelling flights? Or does it just happen to be Southwest is the only airlines that folks here are flying and the others have cancelled and we just don't have anyone flying so no one has posted?

I'd imagine thats easier said than done for some people. We're not going this year, but are planning on going next year and were considering not hiring a car for the first time ever. Fly in from UK, magical express to WDW and Uber to get to Universal etc. I'm sure Im not the only person who thought that might be viable in these days of uber. Then this happens - how do you stock up with supplies when you've flown in and no rental car? There's probably quite a few people in that situation.

I am flying in Tuesday from NC/RDU and scheduled to arrive at 6:24 PM. I hope MCO is good by then. On a crazy note, I just got an email saying that my room is ready for check-in today at Beach CLub. My package was changed three days ago by phone, but my new dates are not showing in MDE.

Delta, American, Jetblue and United still have flights...I've heard reports that Frontier is now canceling Tue flights.

I'm so sorry your anticipated source of food has disappeared. I hope they still provide something even if it's not prepared food. I pray you get what you need.
Also sorry people yelled at you.
